She said she \u200cintends to \u2064try all 19 defendants together.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;This one<a title=\"Trump faces 41 criminal charges in Georgia.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-charged-in-georgia-with-41-criminal-counts\/\">-sided grand jury presentation relied<\/a> on witnesses who harbor their own personal \u200band political\u200c interests,&#8221; Trump lawyers Drew Findling, Jennifer Little and Marissa Goldberg said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We\u2062 look forward to a detailed review of this indictment, which is undoubtedly just as flawed and unconstitutional as this entire process has been,&#8221; Trump \u2062lawyers added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump, in \u200da social\u200d media post \u200covernight, repeated\u2062 his verbal attacks \u200dagainst \u200dWillis\u200c and\u2064 called\u2063 the indictment\u200c a &#8220;witch hunt&#8221; as \u2062he\u2064 seeks the White House a\u200c third\u200c time: &#8220;Why \u2064didn\u2019t they\u200d Indict 2.5 years ago?\u2062 Because they \u200dwanted to do it right in the middle \u2063of my political campaign.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 13 felony charges against Trump matched those listed on a document that was briefly posted\u2063 on the court website earlier \u200cin the day and reported by Reuters \u200cbefore it \u200cdisappeared.<\/p>\n<p>Lawyers for \u200bthose \u2063named either declined\u200b to comment \u2064or did not\u200c immediately respond to a\u2063 request for\u2064 comment.<\/p>\n<p>In a Jan. 2, \u20622021, phone call, Trump \u2062urged Georgia&#8217;s top election official, \u2062Brad Raffensperger, to\u2062 &#8220;find&#8221; enough \u200dvotes to reverse his narrow loss in the state. Raffensperger declined to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&#8217;s supporters stormed\u2063 the U.S. Capitol \u200bfour days later in an unsuccessful \u200battempt to \u200cprevent lawmakers from certifying Biden&#8217;s \u2062victory.<\/p>\n<p>The indictment cites \u200ba\u2064 number of crimes\u2063 that \u200dTrump or his associates\u2062 allegedly committed from\u200d before the \u2063Nov.\u2063 3,\u2062 2020, election until September 2022, including falsely testifying to \u200clawmakers that election fraud \u200dhad occurred and urging \u2064state \u200cofficials to alter the results.<\/p>\n<p>It says the defendants tried to subvert the U.S.\u200d electoral process by\u200b submitting \u200bfalse slates of electors, people who \u2063make up the Electoral College that elects the president and vice president.<\/p>\n<h3>Breaching voting machines, harassing election workers<\/h3>\n<p>It alleges that defendants breached voting equipment in a rural Georgia county, including personal voter information and images\u2064 of ballots.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors also said the defendants harassed \u2063an \u200belection worker who \u2063became the focus of conspiracy theories.<\/p>\n<p>The indictment reaches across state lines, saying that Giuliani, Meadows, and others called officials in Arizona, Pennsylvania,\u200d and \u2062elsewhere \u2064to urge them to change the outcome in those states.<\/p>\n<p>The indictment mentions 30 other co-conspirators, though they were not named or charged.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has denied any wrongdoing,\u2062 and has pleaded not guilty in\u200b three other criminal\u2062 cases.<\/p>\n<p>He faces a New York\u200d state\u200d trial in March\u2063 2024 involving a \u2064<a title=\"Supreme Court Rejects Trump Bid To Shield Financial Records\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-rejects-trump-bid-to-shield-financial-records\/\">hush money payment<\/a> to\u2063 a porn star, and a federal\u200c trial \u200bbeginning\u2064 in May \u200cin Florida for <a title=\"Trump and 18 others face 41 criminal charges in Georgia.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-and-18-others-charged-in-georgia-with-41-criminal-counts\/\">allegedly \u200dmishandling federal classified documents<\/a>. In both cases \u2063Trump pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n<p>A third indictment, in Washington\u2064 federal court, \u2063accuses \u200chim of illegally seeking to overturn his\u2062 2020 election \u200cdefeat. Trump denies wrongdoing\u2064 in this case \u2064as well, and a trial date has yet to be set.<\/p>\n<p>Georgia, once reliably \u2063Republican, has emerged as one \u200bof a\u200b handful of politically competitive states that can\u200c determine the outcome of presidential elections.<\/p>\n<p>Trump persists in\u200c falsely claiming he\u200c won the November 2020 election although dozens\u2064 of\u200d court cases and state probes have found no evidence \u200bto support his claim.<\/p>\n<h3>Not hurting his \u2064campaign<\/h3>\n<p>Strategists said that while\u2062 the \u200dindictments could bolster Republican support \u2063for \u2063Trump,\u2064 they may hurt him in the November 2024 general election, when he will \u200dhave to win over more \u200d<a title=\"Elon Musk Endorses Republicans in Midterms\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/elon-musk-endorses-republicans-in-midterms\/\">independent-minded voters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In \u200da July\u200b Reuters\/Ipsos\u2063 poll, 37% of independents said \u2062the criminal cases made them less likely to vote for him.<\/p>\n<p>Willis&#8217;s investigation drew \u200con testimony \u200dfrom Trump advisers including Giuliani, who urged\u200d state lawmakers in December \u200d2020 not to certify the election, and Republican state officials like Raffensperger and Governor Brian Kemp, who refused to echo Trump&#8217;s false \u2063election claims.<\/p>\n<p>While many Republican officials have\u200c echoed Trump&#8217;s false election claims, Kemp\u200b and Raffensperger have refused to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Raffensperger\u200c has said there was no factual basis for \u2063Trump&#8217;s objections, while Kemp certified the election results despite pressure from \u200dwithin his party.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has been mired in\u2064 legal trouble since leaving office.<\/p>\n<p>Apart\u200b from the criminal cases,\u200b a New York jury in May found him liable for sexually abusing and defaming the writer E. \u200dJean Carroll and awarded her $5 million in a civil case. A\u200b second\u200d defamation\u200c lawsuit scheduled for January seeks $10 million\u2063 in damages.
