8\/14\/2023<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That protective order stated \u200cthat President Trump and \u200chis legal team were not allowed\u2062 to disclose &#8220;sensitive\u200b materials,&#8221; including recordings,\u200b transcripts, and interview reports,\u200c to anyone who is not part of his legal defense in the case.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The proposed protective order requires\u200b that\u2063 any\u200c discussion of classified information between Trump and his attorneys take place in a sensitive compartmented information\u200c facility (&#8216;SCIF&#8217;); it does not require, as Trump maintains, that all \u200bdiscussions \u2064take place in the \u2062same SCIF where classified discovery will be housed,&#8221;\u200c prosecutors with Mr. Smith wrote \u2063in their court filing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As such, there \u2062is no need to modify the proposed protective order on that basis\u2014much \u2063less to include in the order\u200d approval to &#8216;re-establish&#8217; (Department of Justice via AP)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>&#8216;Special\u2062 Treatment&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>Prosecutors additionally claimed in their response \u2063that President\u200c Trump&#8217;s request amounted to &#8220;special treatment&#8221; because he\u2062 was &#8220;asking to be the only defendant \u200bever in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trumps-legal-and-political-jeopardy-an-interview-with-former-federal-prosecutor-andrew-mccarthy\/\" title=\"Interview with ex-Federal Prosecutor Andrew McCarthy on Trump's legal and political risks.\">case involving classified information<\/a> (at least to the Government\u2019s knowledge) who would be able to discuss classified information in a\u2064 private\u200d residence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>They also insisted that the Mar-a-Lago\u2064 location was unsuitable for such a request \u200bbecause &#8220;it is a social club&#8221;\u2064 and claimed that President \u200dTrump\u2062 had\u2062 failed\u2062 to specify what steps he would \u200btake to secure space \u200bat the residence.<\/p>\n<p>Lawyers for President\u2062 Trump had earlier \u2064this month <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/trump-wants-secure-room-restored-at-mar-a-lago-to-discuss-court-case-classified-info-5455469\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">requested the SCIF<\/a> be reestablished at a &#8220;secure area at\u200c an \u200cunidentified location&#8221; previously used to review classified documents\u2064 during\u2064 his presidency so\u2064 that they can prepare an adequate defense in \u200dthe case against him.<\/p>\n<p>Reestablishing the secure location, his lawyers argued,\u200b would allow their \u2062client\u2062 to safely and securely discuss with this legal team, &#8220;in a manner that is\u2062 consistent with government security protocols&#8221; \u2063the classified documents\u200c that prosecutors allege he\u2062 illegally stored\u200b at his Mar-a-Lago resort.<\/p>\n<p>President Trump has been charged with 38 \u200ccounts of willful retention of national defense information, obstruction,\u200c and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sidney-powell-is-an-american-legal-giant\/\" title=\"Sidney Powell Is an American Legal Giant\">making false statements<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He has pleaded not \u200bguilty in the case.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Special counsel Jack\u2062 Smith delivers remarks on\u2064 a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/feds-russian-hackers-obtained-inside-information-on-companies-electronic-filings-to-profit-on-stock-trades\/\" title=\"Feds: Russian Hackers Obtained Inside Information on Companies' Electronic Filings to Profit on Stock Trades\">recently unsealed indictment<\/a> against former President Donald Trump at the Justice Department in Washington on on June 9, 2023.
