By \u20622020,\u2064 right before the presidential election, this tactic had expanded to flatly refusing to cover evidence of shady international deals involving Hunter and the\u2062 \u201cBig \u2062Guy,\u201d sourced from a laptop Hunter had \u2062evidently abandoned\u200d at\u2063 a repair shop, by branding it \u201cRussian disinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-337630316\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1bb2caac2f9d28e7ac7c9a13b9fab67a fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1bb2caac2f9d28e7ac7c9a13b9fab67a\"><\/div>\n<p>As more documents and testimony built the case \u200dof\u200d Biden\u200c family corruption, the narrative forayed\u200b into, \u201cThis is actually just about Joe Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/04\/the-loving-father-excuse-for-joe-bidens-role-in-pay-for-play-biz-is-gross\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">love for his son<\/a>,\u201d and, \u201cDid we \u200csay Joe Biden wasn\u2019t in contact with Hunter\u2019s \u2063business \u2064partners? Actually, he was\u200b a lot but that was <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/02\/joe-biden-wasnt-involved-in-hunters-business-and-its-normal-that-he-was\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">totally normal<\/a> \u2014 and they just talked about the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/02\/how-about-that-weather-narrative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">weather<\/a>!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As the Biden family business becomes indefensible, more media outlets and other Democrats are reallocating their resources to defending only one Biden \u2014 the Big Guy \u200din the White House. If they can show their love for defending democracy by \u200bsaying a few mildly reproachful things about \u2064Hunter, then \u2064use \u200dtheir shiny new credibility to self-righteously shut down questions about Joe, what\u2019s the\u2063 downside?\u2063 Hunter knows the bagman always ends\u2064 up thrown under the bus anyway, right?<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Washington Post editorial board, after initially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2023\/06\/20\/hunter-biden-plea-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">praising<\/a> the sweetheart plea deal brokered between Hunter Biden and \u200dhis father\u2019s \u2064Justice Department \u2014 which\u2064 fell apart under scrutiny from the judge \u2014 has since\u200b changed its \u200dtune and\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2023\/08\/12\/hunter-biden-special-counsel-appointment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admitted<\/a> Saturday that the younger Biden \u201cshouldn\u2019t get special treatment,\u201d which is\u200d an understatement for what the plea deal \u2064was.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201c[C]ritics might have been justified\u201d in calling out the \u2064kid gloves with which the president\u2019s son has been treated, the editorial board admitted. In the next breath, they lauded the appointment of U.S.\u200d Attorney David Weiss as a special counsel to\u200c investigate\u200c Hunter.  (Other \u201cspecial \u2063treatment\u201d the Biden family received, such as the alleged efforts by Weiss himself to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/07\/16\/federal-prosecutor-deliberately-delayed-hunter-biden-probe-to-shield-2020-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">slow-walk<\/a> investigations into the family\u2019s potential <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/19\/irs-whistleblower-says-weiss-allowed-statute-of-limitations-to-expire-in-hunter-biden-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">crimes<\/a>, and free PR work from every <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/3-democrats-the-media-are-thirsty-to-have-back-in-politics\/\" title=\"3 Democrats The Media Are Thirsty To Have Back In Politics\">legacy news outlet<\/a> in America,\u200d went unmentioned by the Post.) <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0350093f8ae2ba2e99cd1f41909f6819 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0350093f8ae2ba2e99cd1f41909f6819\"><\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s a tactical move for Democrats to \u2062praise the appointment of the special counsel. They can leave the same guy running \u200bthe show but now use his new status as\u2064 an <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/11\/garland-appoints-corrupt-special-counsel-to-stonewall-congress-protect-joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">excuse<\/a> \u2064to shoo away pesky congressional\u200b Republican investigators, all the while \u200cloudly proclaiming that \u201cno one is above\u2062 the law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Best of all, they get to keep Hunter and only Hunter in the\u2063 hot\u2062 seat. \u201cOne \u2063temptation in the Hunter\u200c Biden case might be \u200cto investigate\u2063 the \u200bpresident himself, as many of his critics wish,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/washington-post-bidens-student-loan-bailout-is-a-mistake-but-scotus-should-uphold-it-anyway\/\" title=\"Washington Post: Biden\u2019s Student-Loan Bailout Is A Mistake, But SCOTUS Should Uphold It Anyway\">editorial board continued<\/a>, before dutifully lecturing readers to remember that <em>Joe<\/em> Biden\u2019s \u2063behavior \u201cso far\u201d is \u201cnot criminal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democrat Rep. \u2064Jamie Raskin evidently prepped similar talking \u2063points for a Sunday appearance on ABC\u2019s \u201cThis Week.\u201d \u201cThey haven\u2019t been able to show any criminal corruption on [Joe Biden\u2019s] part,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PoliticusSarah\/status\/1690741030578995200\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">insisted<\/a>. \u201cWhat they\u2019ve got is Hunter Biden, and we \u2063all seem clear\u2063 that \u200bthis guy was addicted to drugs and did a\u2062 lot of \u2064really unlawful \u2062and wrong things and we\u2019ve said, let the justice system run its course.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The problem with this new narrative \u200dis\u2062 that it\u2019s completely bogus. Does anyone think\u200d Joe Biden had <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/25\/joe-biden-allegedly-interacted-with-sons-clients-more-than-200-times\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">200-plus conversations<\/a> \u200bwith Hunter\u2019s business partners\u2062 about the weather? Does anyone believe foreign oligarchs were\u2064 happily \u200dforking over\u200d cash to a washed-up \u2063druggie for empty promises? Are we to just ignore\u2062 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grassley.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/fd_1023_obtained_by_senator_grassley_-_biden.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">evidence<\/a> that <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/10\/19\/the-biden-corruption-scandal-isnt-about-hunter-its-about-joe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">millions<\/a> of those foreign\u200b dollars \u2063went into\u2064 not \u2064just Hunter\u200b Biden\u2019s pockets but Joe\u2019s?<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4d6b7831625c7af0bbdfdf94d4d3f217 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4d6b7831625c7af0bbdfdf94d4d3f217\"><\/div>\n<p>There\u2019s a scandal here, but it\u2019s not chiefly about Hunter, any more than the \u201claptop\u201d scandal was chiefly about the dirty footage of Hunter\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/media-fixers-pretend-hunter-biden-is-under-the-law-so-joe-biden-can-stay-above-it\/\" title=\"Media manipulators shield Hunter Biden from legal consequences to protect Joe Biden's reputation.\">drug-fueled sexual escapades stored<\/a> on the hard drive. The laptop story was about \u2062evidence\u2063 of\u200b the Biden family\u2019s influence-for-cash racket, and the scandal\u200b is about Joe\u2019s role in it. <\/p>\n<p>When Democrats promise you the \u2062justice\u2064 system is \u201crunning its course\u201d\u200b on Hunter, the demonstrable falsehood of such\u2062 a statement isn\u2019t even\u200c the worst part.
