This funding will support\u200d 54 EV charging station projects across 35 counties in the state.<\/p>\n<p>These projects \u2063will provide a\u2064 total of 216 charging ports, with an average cost of $156,000 per port. The earliest\u200d start date for some projects is expected to be late\u2063 2023.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our team \u2063has worked diligently to meet the federal NEVI requirements while ensuring a fair distribution of \u200bopportunities among \u200bdifferent\u200d companies and communities,&#8221; said PennDOT \u200dSecretary Mike\u200b Carroll.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Thanks to Governor \u2063 [Josh] Shapiro&#8217;s \u2063leadership \u200cand commitment to\u2064 the people \u2063of Pennsylvania, we are one of the \u2062first states to distribute these funds, which\u200b will provide travelers with more\u200d options and\u200d confidence while also \u2062benefiting our environment. These investments\u2064 will create well-paying jobs \u2062and enable residents, businesses, and visitors to \u200dtravel \u2064across\u200b the state \u200dfaster, cleaner,\u2062 and more reliably.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Alternative Fuel Corridors<\/h2>\n<p>A key objective of the NEVI funds is\u2064 to achieve a &#8220;full build-out&#8221; of the existing Alternative Fuel\u2062 Corridors (AFCs) in Pennsylvania, as stated in a report by \u200dPennDOT. All \u200bof the state&#8217;s interstates\u200d are designated as AFCs and \u2062will be the primary focus for new infrastructure development in the initial years of the NEVI program.<\/p>\n<p>PennDOT \u200cis also beginning to assess\u2062 the charging needs for \u200bDirect-current fast chargers (DCFCs) beyond the\u2064 interstate\u200b system, with a particular emphasis on non-interstate corridors. The \u200caim is to stimulate EV ownership in smaller urban and\u200b rural areas\u200b across the state.<\/p>\n<p>Out of the 54 projects, 22\u200d will be located in or\u2064 within half a mile of \u2063state or federally \u200ddesignated disadvantaged communities.<\/p>\n<p>Pennsylvania currently has over 1,800 miles of \u2062AFCs. Full build-out requires charging \u2063stations\u2064 to be \u2063no more than \u200b50 miles \u200dapart and within 1 mile of an AFC-marked interstate exit.<\/p>\n<p>Among the grant recipients\u2064 are seven Pennsylvania-based companies, including Wawa, Sheetz, Francis\u2062 Energy\u2062 PA, Alnajukchahat Store, LLC, Mirabito Holdings, Inc, 6406 Truck Plaza LLC, and\u200b Applegreen Electric \u2062PA LLC. National\u200b companies such as Tesla, Pilot \u2062Travel \u200bCenters, BP Products North America, Inc., \u200cand Love&#8217;s Travel Stops and\u200c Country \u200bStores have also received funding.<\/p>\n<p>PennDOT received a \u2062total of 271 funding applications and\u200b prioritized \u200cprojects that offer a\u2062 range of amenities to\u2064 enhance the\u200d customer experience, while also considering factors\u2064 such as accessibility and payment\u200c options.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Thanks to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, we \u200bcan strengthen and expand our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-dems-vote-to-categorize-art-as-infrastructure\/\" title=\"House Dems Vote to Categorize Art as Infrastructure\">electric vehicle charging infrastructure<\/a>,&#8221; said U.S. \u2062Senator Bob Casey, a Democrat running for reelection. \u200d&#8221;This funding will allow us to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pennsylvania-planning-54-locations-for-ev-charging-stations\/\" title=\"Pennsylvania plans 54 EV charging stations.\">deploy \u2064electric\u2062 vehicle charging stations<\/a> \u2062across our Commonwealth, from cities to suburbs \u2063to rural areas, promoting \u2063energy security, creating jobs,\u2062 and reducing\u2064 our carbon footprint.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The \u2064grant awards were announced\u200c on\u2064 Monday, Aug. 14,\u2064 at the Scranton Electricians Apprenticeship Committee Training Center.<\/p>\n<p>In Pennsylvania, all\u200d electricians \u2062involved in the installation, operation, or \u200cmaintenance of EV supply equipment\u200b must have certification\u2064 from the Electric\u200b Vehicle \u200dInfrastructure Training Program or a graduation or \u2062continuing education\u200b certificate from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/julio-rivera-no-boys-allowed-new-cyberstart-canada-program-will-cater-only-to-girls-and-non-binary-students\/\" title=\"Julio Rivera: No Boys Allowed?
