A total of 40 charges \u200dwere filed\u200d in the case.<\/p>\n<p>Those 13 counts against President Trump correspond precisely with the charges listed in a \u200bdocument\u2062 that \u2063Reuters news service reported\u200c earlier in the day. The outlet reported\u2064 that a \u2064document listing those charges was briefly posted on the Georgia court&#8217;s website on Aug. 14.<\/p>\n<p>However, later\u200c in \u200cthe day, Reuters also reported: &#8220;The [clerk of courts&#8217;] office described \u2063what it\u2064 called &#8216;a fictitious document \u200bthat has been circulated online&#8217; without specifying whether\u2063 it was the one listing \u200dcriminal charges against Trump. \u2062A spokesperson for the clerk did not respond to a request for further detail.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/georgia-posts-then-removes-racketeering-other-charges-against-trump-5464291?utm_source=ref_share&#038;utm_campaign=copy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Epoch Times<\/a> sought clarification from the court spokesman \u2064but received no response.<\/p>\n<p>President Trump&#8217;s campaign, in a\u200b statement issued at\u2064 around 10 p.m. ET, decried the case as another attempt to interfere with the former president&#8217;s third run for the Oval Office.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Like Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, Deranged Jack Smith, and New\u200b York AG Letitia James, Fulton County,\u200c GA&#8217;s radical Democrat District Attorney Fani\u2064 Willis is a rabid partisan who is \u200bcampaigning\u200c and fundraising on a platform of prosecuting President\u200d Trump through these bogus indictments,&#8221; the statement\u200d read, referring to the three other indictments targeting the former president brought\u200d by Special Counsel Smith and Manhattan District Attorney Bragg.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Willis\u2062 launched a new fundraising website for her political endeavors late last week, \u200cjust before \u2063the grand jury&#8217;s decision \u200cwas expected.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump campaign questioned\u200c the timing\u2064 of the indictment stemming from incidents that occurred nearly three years ago.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ripping a\u200b page from Crooked Joe Biden\u2019s \u2064playbook, Willis has strategically stalled her investigation to try and maximally interfere with the \u200c2024\u200d presidential race and damage the dominant Trump campaign. All of these corrupt Democrat attempts will\u200b fail,&#8221; the Trump campaign said.<\/p>\n<p>Three \u2062of the four indictments occurred in overwhelmingly Democrat cities: Washington, New York,\u2062 and, now, Atlanta. One case is proceeding in Palm\u2063 Beach County, Florida,\u200b but a Washington grand jury \u200cwas involved in that investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They are\u2063 taking away \u2064President Trump\u2019s First Amendment right to free speech, and the right to challenge a \u2064rigged and stolen election that the Democrats do all the \u200ctime,&#8221; the campaign added.<\/p>\n<p>Alina \u2063Habba, an attorney who serves as a legal spokeswoman for President Trump, \u200ctold Newsmax that she expects multiple defendants\u200b to be \u200bindicted in this case. However, she says that knowledge is based \u2063on &#8220;leaks coming out of Georgia.&#8221; But, she said she had \u200bno \u200bspecific information. &#8220;I&#8221;m on standby \u200b&#8230; \u200cit doesn&#8217;t\u2063 matter\u200b if you\u200c represent \u200dthe president, or if you&#8217;re a journalist, you won&#8217;t get anything until they&#8217;re ready to\u200b leak it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She also said\u2064 she had spoken with President Trump recently and wants people to know: &#8220;He is resilient. He is\u200c strong. And he really loves this country. So I&#8217;m \u2063sorry\u2062 that you are trying to break \u2063him down &#8230; But he is not the \u200bright guy \u2064to try and \u200cdo \u200cthat\u2062 to. He is really unbreakable. When it\u2064 comes to\u200d his love for \u200bthis country, he&#8217;s \u2063not going to stop fighting.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In \u2064the weeks and \u2062months leading to his indictments, the former president has railed against the investigations and \u2064resulting \u200bcharges. He has denounced the \u200daccusations\u2063 as an unethical and\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-grand-jury-returns-indictment-in-trump-2020-election-case\/\" title=\"Georgia Grand Jury Indicts in Trump 2020 Election Case\">possibly illegal \u201celection interference\u201d attempt<\/a> to bolster his Democratic opponent, President Joe Biden, in his bid to retain the presidency.<\/p>\n<p>President\u2062 Trump contends that President Biden\u2019s Department\u2063 of Justice \u200d(DOJ), and other Democrat foes including Fulton County District Attorney Fani \u2063Willis have timed the \u2062charges to\u200d wound his candidacy in the thick of his campaign\u2014accusations they \u2063deny. But despite\u200d this, the former\u2064 president \u200chas\u200c enjoyed a \u2063boost in popularity. He attributes this to a backlash against prosecutions that he has maintained are\u2062 politically motivated.<\/p>\n<h2>2020 Election<\/h2>\n<p>The\u2062 Georgia charges come \u200dmore than 2 1\/2 years after Ms. Willis launched an investigation\u200b of\u2064 accusations that \u200bPresident Trump and his allies may have criminally interfered with the state\u2019s election results.<\/p>\n<p>President Trump \u200bhas continually disputed the election \u2063results\u2062 in Georgia and other states ever since the election. \u200cConcerns about election integrity have dogged the Peach State in the past, particularly in Fulton County.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2020, a \u2063month after the election, he had asked Georgia Gov. Kemp rebuffed that\u2062 request and also\u2062 said \u2063he lacked the authority to order an audit of absentee ballots, as the \u200bpresident had \u2062requested.<\/p>\n<p>Interest in investigating President Trump&#8217;s dispute over the Georgia election results peaked after \u2063reports revealed the contents of a phone call between President Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad\u2062 Raffensperger on Jan. 2, 2021. During\u2064 the call, President Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/7340548-Trump-Transcript-A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said:<\/a> &#8220;I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more\u2063 that we have because we won the state.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Much\u2064 debate has swirled around the intent and meaning of President Trump\u2019s statements during that call.<\/p>\n<p>Mainstream media outlets often characterize the\u2064 conversation as one in which the president \u201cdemanded\u201d\u200b or\u200d \u201cpressured\u201d \u200bofficials to concoct a revised vote\u2063 tally to benefit him.<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u2064 Raffensperger told CBS News that he felt that the president and his team were attempting to intimidate him into taking certain actions.<\/p>\n<p>But President Trump\u2019s spokespersons suggested that Mr. \u2063Raffensperger was\u200c getting defensive over the president\u2019s criticisms of\u2064 his \u2062work\u200d as\u2063 Georgia\u2019s\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-the-media-pushed-the-now-debunked-find-the-fraud-story-in-their-bid-to-attack-trump\/\" title=\"How The Media Pushed The Now Debunked \u2018Find The Fraud\u2019 Story In Their Bid To Attack Trump\">top elections official<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During the \u200dcall, President Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/article\/trump-attorney-condemns-georgia-secretary-of-state-for-releasing-confidential-call-with-the-president-3642973\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">made specific allegations<\/a> of problems that he believed warranted further investigation, and which\u200d would have\u2064 exceeded the small number of ballots he needed to\u200c win the election.<\/p>\n<p>The president said he believed that up to 300,000 ballots &#8220;were dropped mysteriously into the rolls,&#8221; and he thought \u200dthat fraudulent signatures\u2062 may have been placed on the\u200c ballots.<\/p>\n<p>There also\u2064 were 4,502 &#8220;voters\u2062 who voted \u2063but who weren\u2019t on \u200cthe voter registration \u2062list,&#8221; plus &#8220;18,325 vacant-address voters,&#8221; the president said. He also alleged that there were 4,925 out-of-staters who \u200dvoted improperly, along with 2,326 votes tied to absentee ballots that were sent\u2063 to vacant addresses.<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 6, 2021, a &#8220;Stop the Steal&#8221; protest of the election results \u200dculminated in the breach of \u2064the \u200cU.S. Capitol, intensifying criticism of President Trump and his insistence that\u200b the election was stolen or &#8220;rigged.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Democrats in Congress proceeded to impeach him, attempting to hold\u2064 him \u200dresponsible for the violence \u200cthat broke\u2064 out. He was acquitted.<\/p>\n<h2>Trump&#8217;s Concerns\u2064 Regarding \u2063Georgia<\/h2>\n<p>Later that year, on Sept. 17, 2021, President Trump sent <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realLizUSA\/status\/1438886054380154884?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a letter<\/a> to Mr. Raffensperger, telling him that\u2064 large-scale voter\u2063 fraud\u2063 was still being reported in Georgia.
