The \u200cdecision aims to change\u200b tariff rules for\u200d properties with multiple meters.<\/p>\n<p>If confirmed with a vote by\u200b the \u200ccommission scheduled for Sept. 21, properties with multiple meters would \u2063be\u200b required to \u2062sell energy to\u200b utility companies at discounted \u2063rates and then repurchase the power at retail prices.<\/p>\n<p>Solar panels are connected in a series, forming a\u2062 solar array. (Mario Tama\/Getty \u200dImages)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The council urged \u2062the governor and utilities commission to reject the proposal and any other measures that hinder \u2062the \u200dability of multifamily\u200c tenants \u2063and schools to \u200dbenefit from local, renewable, and affordable energy through rooftop solar and battery storage.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed rule changes relate\u200d to a 2008 decision that established affordable solar \u2063power for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/newsom-signs-bills-to-limit-single-family-zoning-in-california\/\" title=\"Newsom Signs Bills to Limit Single-Family Zoning in California\">multi-family housing<\/a>.
