He emphasized SoCalGas&#8217; commitment to delivering increasingly renewable natural gas and other clean fuels to customers, as part of their goal to achieve net zero <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">greenhouse gas emissions<\/a> by 2045.<\/p>\n<p>The attorney general&#8217;s office conducted an investigation and \u2063found that SoCalGas made these misleading claims through various mediums, including print, electronic media, informative displays, backdrops, and promotional items.<\/p>\n<p>Attorney General Bonta \u200dstated,\u2063 &#8220;While we appreciate its cooperation in our investigation, SoCalGas should \u2063have known better than to\u2062 broadcast unqualified claims suggesting\u200b that all natural gas is &#8216;renewable.&#8217; \u200cTruth in marketing matters, and it&#8217;s required under state law.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The settlement not only includes the $175,000 penalty\u2063 but also prohibits SoCalGas\u200c from making similar unqualified statements in\u2064 the \u2062future. Additionally, 50 percent of the penalty, amounting to $87,500, will be directed to the California Environmental Protection Agency&#8217;s\u2062 Environmental Justice Small Grants Program to fund a Supplemental Environmental Project focused \u2063on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/university-of-wisconsin-campus-asks-students-to-take-21-week-equity-challenge\/\" title=\"University Of Wisconsin Campus Asks Students To Take 21-Week \u2018Equity Challenge\u2019\">environmental justice<\/a>.
