The lawsuit, filed earlier \u2064this month, claims that Mischa Smith, who worked in various positions at No Labels, was fired after reporting\u200c racial discrimination to the\u200c organization&#8217;s leaders.\u200d Smith, who identifies \u2064as \u200cblack, also alleges that she \u2062was treated differently from her peers because of her race.<\/p>\n<h3>Allegations of Discrimination and \u200cRetaliation<\/h3>\n<p>According to court filings, Smith \u2063was given the task of\u2063 finding diverse candidates for the organization, specifically &#8220;explicitly Black people,&#8221; a directive allegedly given\u200c by No Labels CEO Nancy Jacobson. Smith claims that \u200dno \u200bother employee was given a \u2064similar\u2062 task. After several months, Smith expressed concerns about being treated \u200bdifferently from her non-black coworkers \u200dand described\u2062 instances of being assigned menial tasks and facing\u2064 unrealistic expectations.<\/p>\n<p>Smith also mentioned being &#8220;chastised&#8221; \u2063by organizational leaders for \u200dher\u200d work performance, including \u200done incident where she \u2062was reprimanded for missing metrics due to attending a family funeral. Despite explaining her situation, Smith claims she was \u2063still criticized.<\/p>\n<h3>No \u200dLabels Responds\u200c to \u2063Lawsuit<\/h3>\n<p>No Labels responded to the lawsuit, dismissing \u2063the\u2063 allegations as unfounded \u200band politically motivated. Co-Executive\u2063 Director Liz Morrison stated that the legal\u2064 action was without merit and that the organization would vigorously defend itself. No Labels \u2062also pointed to a video in \u200bwhich a Democratic political operative threatened the organization and its \u2063staff with\u200b intimidation and\u2063 harassment.<\/p>\n<h3>Compensation\u2063 and Future Plans<\/h3>\n<p>Smith is seeking compensation for lost\u2064 wages, pain and suffering, and loss of health insurance,\u200c totaling \u2062more than $10,000. She is\u2064 also requesting punitive \u200ddamages and reimbursement of\u2064 legal fees. \u200cMeanwhile, No Labels \u200chas been working to expand ballot access for a \u2063third-party \u200bpresidential candidate in the 2024 elections. The organization has already gained access in \u200c10 states and plans \u200cto appear in as \u200bmany states as \u200bpossible next year.<\/p>\n<p>Despite \u2064facing pushback from outside Democratic groups, No Labels argues that introducing a third-party candidate could disrupt the interests of both Democrats and Republicans. They <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ex-employee-sues-no-labels-over-alleged-racial-discrimination\/\" title=\"Former employee files lawsuit against No Labels for alleged racial discrimination.\">cite polling data showing<\/a> that\u200c when a third-party candidate is introduced in battleground states\u200d like Arizona and\u2063 Georgia, support for both President Joe Biden and \u200dTrump diminishes.<\/p>\n<p>While it remains\u2063 unclear who No \u2063Labels would nominate as its candidates, the organization\u200b plans to hold a nominating convention in \u2064April \u200dif it moves forward with its third-party ticket plans.
