What&#8217;s so special about\u200b a special counsel\u200d is that he doesn&#8217;t\u200c have to answer to the present administration, he&#8217;s independent.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On\u200b Friday, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that David\u200c Weiss, the U.S.\u200d attorney from \u200cDelaware, would head up \u2062the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/penn-biden-center-foreign-ties-fuel-lawsuit-over-higher-education-transparency\/\" title=\"Lawsuit over transparency in higher education fueled by Penn Biden Center's foreign ties.\">special\u2062 counsel investigation<\/a>. Russell Dye, a spokesperson for House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan \u200c(R-Ohio), told news \u200doutlets that \u2063Mr.\u2064 Weiss &#8220;can&#8217;t be\u2064 trusted&#8221; and that him being named as a special counsel is &#8220;just a new way to whitewash the Biden family&#8217;s corruption.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), meanwhile, wrote on X \u2063that \u200cMr. Weiss&#8217; appointment &#8220;cannot be \u200bused to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cant-be-trusted-republicans-call-hunter-biden-special-counsel-appointment-a-coverup\/\" title=\"Republicans slam Hunter Biden special counsel appointment as a 'coverup', deem him 'untrustworthy'.\">obstruct congressional investigations<\/a>&#8221; and added\u2062 that\u200b House Republicans &#8220;will\u2062 continue \u200dto pursue the facts for the American people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Weiss&#8217; Previous\u2064 Work<\/h2>\n<p>Mr.\u2063 Dershowitz on Monday appeared \u200cto agree with Republican critics of the\u2062 move, saying that Mr. \u200cWeiss allegedly\u2062 didn&#8217;t\u200c investigate key Hunter Biden allegations in his capacity as \u200dU.S. attorney for Delaware.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What I\u2063 would have liked to find out is\u2063 what David Weiss actually did, not what he was authorized to do. What did he\u2062 actually investigate? \u2064Did he look \u200dinto Burisma? President Biden has denied any wrongdoing and has said he had no \u2063knowledge of his son&#8217;s deals.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think there&#8217;s, right now, enough cause from these whistleblowers and these \u2062other allegations to\u200c have somebody outside the government look to see\u2062 whether or not President Biden had any connections to \u2063his son&#8217;s\u200d shenanigans,&#8221; Mr. Dershowitz said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Weiss has\u200d been overseeing the Hunter Biden \u200ccase since\u200d the end of \u2062the Trump administration. \u2062The\u200b U.S. attorney was nominated by former President\u2064 Donald Trump in 2017 and confirmed\u200b by \u2062the Senate in 2018, although the former president recently said he would\u200d not have\u200c named him to head the special counsel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDavid Weiss was picked by \u2064the two\u2063 Democrat Senators\u2063 from Delaware \u2064under\u2064 \u2018Blue \u200cSlip,\u2019\u201d President\u2063 Trump wrote in a post \u200bon <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/110874170534362392\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Truth Social<\/a> \u200c on Aug. 12, \u2062referring to an opinion written by a senator\u200b from \u2063a state where a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ex-harvard-professor-warns-doj-is-in-clear-violation-in-hunter-biden-case\/\" title=\"Harvard Professor: DOJ Violates Rules in Hunter Biden Case\">federal judicial nominee resides<\/a>. \u201cHe would not \u2064have \u2062been picked by me.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Appointed \u200don Request<\/h2>\n<p>In announcing the appointment, Mr. Garland said he \u200dnamed Mr.\u2062 Weiss as\u2063 special counsel in response to a request from him.
