I can\u2019t care any less than I do.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>She\u200b has found that &#8220;talking about how global warming \u200caffects our lives, however casually, becomes a sort of \u200dcanary in the coal \u2063mine for learning about people\u2019s broader beliefs and \u200cbehaviors,&#8221; such as &#8220;how\u200d they engage with science and systemic inequality.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sounds like fun!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Crucial context<\/strong>: Berry cites <a href=\"https:\/\/theblog.okcupid.com\/climate-change-is-the-1-issue-to-daters-in-2022-2a54fadc2a10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">data<\/a> from the online dating app OkCupid claiming \u2062to show \u200ca dramatic increase in\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-survey-shows-what-nearly-1-3-of-gen-z-wants-the-govt-to-put-in-private-homes\/\" title=\"1\/3 of Gen Z wants the government to add something to private homes, according to a new survey.\">users expressing concern<\/a> about climate change in their \u2064profiles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The data do show that\u200d young singles are writing &#8220;climate\u200d change&#8221; and other related terms in their profiles with \u2062increasing\u200c frequency. Berry, however, suggests\u200c what these online daters really want is &#8220;someone willing to grapple with [climate change], \u200bto do \u200cthe inconvenient work of reimagining our own\u2063 lives in\u200b the face of \u200cit,&#8221; including discussions about \u200d&#8221;whether to have a baby.&#8221; Yeah, uh, maybe.<\/li>\n<li>Liberals are weird. \u2062 <em>New \u2064York Times<\/em> columnist Ezra Klein <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/06\/05\/opinion\/climate-change-should-you-have-kids.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a> that the \u200dquestion he is asked &#8220;more than any other&#8221; is \u200cwhether it&#8217;s okay to have children &#8220;given\u200c the climate crisis&#8221; and &#8220;knowing they will\u200c contribute \u200cto the\u2063 climate crisis.&#8221; \u200b(People who ask Ezra Klein for \u200cadvice on having kids are not a representative sample of the American population.)<\/li>\n<li>Liberal activist David Hogg <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/politics\/david-hogg-porsche-children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> last year that he is &#8220;never having kids&#8221; and \u2063&#8221;would much rather \u2062own a Porsche&#8221; because it&#8217;s \u2064&#8221;better for the \u200benvironment.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Be smart<\/strong>: Most \u200bpeople who claim to &#8220;care about climate change&#8221; are just trying to \u2062achieve a \u2062feeling of moral superiority over the people who don&#8217;t even \u200cpretend to care about climate change.
