Wade<\/em>, effectively removing constitutional protection for abortion rights in the\u200b United States. Tia stated that it was prepared to provide abortion access not only in California\u200d and New York, where it\u200d had been operating prior to\u200d partnering with CommonSpirit, but also in Arizona, with the support of the Catholic \u200borganization.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re ready to do our part to support our patients with access to medication abortion via our virtual care team in California and New York, where it remains legal, and via a local\u2062 care partner on-the-ground in Arizona, \u200dwhere we\u2019ll continue to monitor local laws closely,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Michael \u2063Hichborn, President of the Lepanto Institute, believes \u200cthat Tia is on its\u2062 way to becoming &#8220;Planned Parenthood 2.0&#8221; thanks to\u2064 its partnership, and he\u200b advocates \u200cfor consequences for the Catholic healthcare \u200dnetwork.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona was the \u2062first state Tia expanded to after partnering with CommonSpirit, which already had a \u200bsignificant presence in the state. According to \u200cthe\u200b Catholic organization&#8217;s most recent <a href=\"https:\/\/pdf.guidestar.org\/PDF_Images\/2021\/470\/617\/2021-470617373-20205487-9.pdf?_gl=1*13lsc4s*_ga*MzgzNDc0NDk4LjE2ODMzMDYzMTc.*_ga_5W8PXYYGBX*MTY4OTEwMjk4My4xMS4xLjE2ODkxMDMwMTcuMjYuMC4w\">tax forms<\/a>, it holds a 65% ownership stake in <a href=\"https:\/\/asktia.com\/locations\/tia-scottsdale\">Tia\u2019s Scottsdale, Arizona, clinic<\/a>. The launch of the Arizona site was a\u200d top priority when the partnership was established \u2062in 2021.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe deal\u200d enables the two healthcare leaders to launch Tia-branded women\u2019s \u2063health clinics together that will provide comprehensive, blended virtual and in-person care \u2014 with plans for the\u2062 first clinic in Phoenix where\u200d CommonSpirit\u2062 operates multiple Dignity Health medical centers,\u201d said a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commonspirit.org\/news-and-perspectives\/news\/tia-and-commonspirit-health-team-to-deliver-integrated--person-b\">press release<\/a> from the two companies at the \u2064time of the deal.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Currently,\u200b Tia\u2019s website mentions\u200c providing \u200c&#8221;medication abortion via a virtual visit\u2062 in New York and California,&#8221; but does not disclose its operations in Arizona. Neither Tia nor\u200d CommonSpirit have responded to requests for comment.<\/p>\n<h3>Tia&#8217;s Evolution \u2063and Controversial Views<\/h3>\n<p>Tia began as a mobile app in\u200d 2017, aiming to provide information about birth control and \u200csexual health in a \u2063body-positive, sex-positive, \u200djudgment-free space. It later expanded to include physical \u2064clinics, and\u200b its stance on abortion became apparent from its early days.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200b Lepanto Institute&#8217;s report highlights \u200dTia&#8217;s social media posts from 2019, expressing support for Roe v. Wade and stating their intention to provide abortion services in the future.
