Kennedy Jr. said that he would support a national ban on \u200dabortion \u2064after the first three months of pregnancy if elected.<\/p>\n<p>The next morning, a \u2064campaign spokesperson said, \u201cMr.\u200c Kennedy misunderstood a question posed to him \u2062by\u2062 an NBC reporter in a crowded, noisy exhibit \u2063hall at the Iowa State Fair.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Kennedy\u2019s position on abortion is that it is \u2064always the woman\u2019s right to \u200bchoose. Individuals are able to make their own \u2063choices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Mr. Kennedy delivered his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cnn-spox-slammed-for-mocking-standard-journalism-as-network-cuts-reporting-staff\/\" title=\"CNN Spox Slammed for Mocking \u2018Standard\u2019 Journalism as Network Cuts Reporting Staff\">original comments<\/a> about abortion on Aug. 12, the Susan B. Anthony List, \u2062a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rfk-jr-continues-to-draw-attention-controversy-for-his-stances\/\" title=\"RFK Jr. remains a focal point of attention and controversy due to his positions.\">leading conservative anti-abortion organization<\/a>, praised his position, describing it in a statement as \u201ca stark contrast to the \u2064Democratic Party\u2019s radical stance of \u200dabortion on demand. Kennedy \u200bis one of the few prominent Democrats aligned with the consensus of the people today. Every candidate should be asked, \u2018Where do you draw the line?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Abortion a Hot-Button Issue<\/h2>\n<p>Abortion \u2064is expected to be a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/10-ways-to-save-the-modern-awards-show\/\" title=\"10 Ways To Save The Modern Awards Show\">hot-button issue<\/a> in the 2024 presidential election and in 2024 U.S.\u2063 Senate and House races.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned <em>Roe\u2064 v. Wade,<\/em> which\u200b gave the\u200b constitutional right for women to have \u200cabortions around \u200b50 years ago. Since then, several Republican-led states have introduced \u2063or enacted abortion bans or restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>Some states have rejected initiatives to ban or restrict abortions. Last week, Ohio voters rejected\u200c a measure that would have required 60 percent support to pass \u2064a \u200cconstitutional amendment \u2063instead of the\u2064 current 50 percent plus one format. In November, Ohioans\u200d will \u2062head to the polls to determine\u2062 if a \u2063ballot measure will enshrine abortion \u200drights into the state\u2019s constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. \u2062Kennedy\u2019s\u200c stance on abortion could have an impact on his\u200d support from conservatives in the 2024 Democratic primary.<\/p>\n<p>Since announcing his candidacy\u2063 to challenge President Joe Biden in the 2024 Democratic primary, Mr. Kennedy\u200b has gained support from conservatives, moderates, independents, and liberals. \u200bHe\u2062 has also generated criticism from people\u2064 from\u2064 each group for certain stances.<\/p>\n<p>Some conservative voters in \u200bstates with open primaries have told The Epoch Times that they will cast their ballot\u2063 for Mr. Kennedy.<\/p>\n<h2>RFK Jr. Has High Favorability<\/h2>\n<p>Days \u2064after a House hearing on censorship last month that saw Democrats attempt to \u2063prevent Mr. Kennedy from testifying, a Harvard-Harris poll showed that \u2064he has a higher favorability \u2064rating than any other presidential candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Kennedy saw a favorable rating of 47 percent and a unfavorable mark of 26 \u2062percent, according to the survey, which was released on July 23 \u200band conducted July 19\u201320\u2063 among 2,068 registered voters.<\/p>\n<p>Former president Donald Trump carried a favorability rating of 45 percent compared with an unfavorability number of 49 percent. \u2064Florida governor Ron DeSantis had \u200da \u200d40 percent favorable rating and 37 percent unfavorable, and President\u2063 Joe Biden has 39 percent\u2063 favorable and 53 percent unfavorable ratings.<\/p>\n<p>Dismissed as a longshot candidate by many political pundits, Mr. Kennedy also had the highest net \u2063favorability of \u2063all 2024 presidential candidates in a June poll from The Economist\/YouGov.<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u200c Kennedy is\u2062 the son of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and the nephew of both President John F. Kennedy \u200band Sen. Ted Kennedy.<\/p>\n<p>An environmental attorney and the founder of Children\u2019s Health Defense, Mr. Kennedy is widely known for his vocal stance on the dangers\u2063 of the COVID-19 vaccines and of vaccines in \u2063general.<\/p>\n<p>Backing from those who are not left-leaning is also mounting because Mr. Kennedy differs from Mr. Biden and progressive Democrats on multiple issues.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Kennedy has for example, called for de-escalating the\u2063 war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>He also has\u200b said that, initially, \u200dhe was not in favor of Mr. Trump\u2019s border wall. But after seeing the border firsthand \u2062in Arizona in July, Mr. Kennedy changed \u2063his mind. He said there is a \u200dneed for increased infrastructure and technology at the border, \u200bincluding more segments\u200c of \u2064a physical wall, and sensors in areas where a wall isn\u2019t feasible.<\/p>\n<p>About gun control, Mr. Kennedy said, \u201cI do not believe that, within that Second\u2064 Amendment, there is \u200canything we can meaningfully do to reduce the trade and the ownership \u200bof guns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnybody who tells\u200d you \u2064that they\u2019re going to reduce gun violence through gun control at this point, I don\u2019t think is \u200bbeing realistic,\u201d he \u200csaid.\u200b \u201cI think we\u2063 have to think about other ways to reduce that violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. \u200dKennedy did note that he would\u2064 sign an assault weapons ban if he were president and the legislation was placed on his desk. He also said at a town hall\u2064 in July that \u00a0\u201cthere will be nobody in the Oval Office \u2063who is more supportive \u200dof LGBTQ rights than \u200cI am,\u201d and that he would legalize marijuana and psychedelic drugs\u2014all \u2062points that many Democrats favor.<\/p>\n<p>While speaking at the Des Moines Register\u2019s Political Soapbox at \u2064the Iowa State Fair, Mr. Kennedy also said that he would not\u2063 serve as Mr. Trump\u2019s running\u2062 mate if asked.<\/p>\n<p>He added that he is seeking the presidency \u201cto end the corrupt merger of state and corporate power.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Opposition to Proposed Pipelines<\/h2>\n<p>Mr. Kennedy drew loud applause when he noted \u200bhis opposition to proposed carbon-capture pipelines that \u200bcould cross around Iowa and other\u200d Midwestern states.<\/p>\n<p>He also expressed concern about the loss\u200b of family farms to sprawling stretches of land owned\u200d by\u2062 big corporations.<\/p>\n<p>Several companies have proposed the construction of pipelines that would carry liquefied carbon dioxide from ethanol plants to other facilities for\u200b underground burial.
