Version: 4.0.47--><h2>To a reporter for a \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/questions-mount-after-biden-sets-modern-record-with-no-solo-press-conferences\/\" title=\"Questions Mount After Biden Sets \u2018Modern Record\u2019 With No Solo Press Conferences\">left-wing publication<\/a>, being interviewed by a\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cnns-ratings-tanked-44-the-week-after-trump-left-the-white-house\/\" title=\"CNN\u2019s Ratings Tanked 44% The Week After Trump Left The White House\">left-wing network<\/a>, it \u200cprobably sounded like good news.<\/h2>\n<p>But for any conservative American \u2014 or even\u200d a liberal who cares about integrity in the judicial system \u2014 an\u200d MSNBC interview Saturday about the judge\u2019s conduct during a hearing on Friday carried a disturbing message:<\/p>\n<p>In former President Donald Trump\u2019s criminal trial in D.C., justice isn\u2019t going to be \u200dblind \u2014 but the judge\u2063 is going to pretend she can\u2019t see the facts in front of her.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday Katie Phang, a \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/democratic-rep-eric-swalwell-suggests-banning-us-troops-watching-fox-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">notorious liberal<\/a> even by MSNBC\u2019s\u2062 notoriously liberal \u2062standards, interviewed Hugo Lowell, an investigations reporter for The Guardian, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/reporter-reveals-shocking-body-language-of-trump-judge-during-latest-hearing\/\" title=\"Reporter exposes Trump judge's alarming body language in recent hearing.\">left-wing newspaper \u200dbased<\/a> in the U.K. (It\u2019s roughly the British equivalent of the\u200c New York \u2062Times \u2014 just\u2064 as biased, but maybe better written.)<\/p>\n<p>Lowell described the behavior of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/judge-overseeing-trump-case-already-issued-ruling-matters-not-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Judge Tanya Chutkan<\/a>, who is presiding over Trump\u2019s trial \u200brelated \u200cto the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol incursion.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Judge Chutkan \u200crolled her\u2062 eyes and put her face in her hands\u2062 yesterday when Trump\u2019s lawyers pointed out the political nature of\u200c the case and the fact the sitting president\u2019s DOJ is criminally charging his presumptive 2024 opponent: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/NEj1L40GUU\">pic.twitter.com\/NEj1L40GUU<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Julie\u2063 Kelly (@julie_kelly2) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/julie_kelly2\/status\/1690398231312715777?\">August 12,\u2062 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And Chutkan, Lowell\u2063 said, made a point of\u200d pretending politics wasn\u2019t involved in the \u200bcase at all.<\/p>\n<p>If\u2063 her words didn\u2019t make that clear, her body language did.<\/p>\n<p>While \u200cshe\u200b appeared to sympathize with some of Trump attorney John Lauro\u2019s arguments at times, Lowell said, \u201cother times she grew exasperated by all the discussion about politics. At one point, she \u200ckind of put her face in her hands. She kind of rolled her eyes when there was another discussion about the \u2064Biden administration coming\u2064 after Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That doesn\u2019t bode well for either the former president, the interests\u200b of justice, or the reputation of the American legal system.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump case isn\u2019t taking place in a vacuum \u2014 Judge \u2062Chutkan knows that, the \u200bprosecution and defense lawyers know it, everyone in the United States who follows\u2063 politics knows it.<\/p>\n<p>As a man who has been repeatedly targeted by a \u201cJustice Department\u201d headed by a vindictive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/parents-group-speaks-reportedly-targeted-fbi-merrick-garland-terrorist-threats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Attorney General Merrick \u200cGarland<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jack-smith-went-republican-case-got-overturned-scotus-unanimously\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">partisan attack \u200ddog<\/a> Jack Smith \u2064\u2014 not to mention <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/attorney-general-merrick-garland-breaks-silence-mar-lago-raid-moves-unseal-search-warrant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an FBI raid<\/a> on his\u200b own home \u2014 Trump is in a unique position in American politics and\u200b history.<\/p>\n<p>As the current front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination by a country mile \u2014 a spread of almost 40 percent, according to the most recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/epolls\/2024\/president\/us\/2024_republican_presidential_nomination-7548.html#!\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RealClearPolitics<\/a> polling average \u2014 Trump is the top political challenger to President Joe Biden\u2019s re-election.<\/p>\n<p>The criminal case against him related to Jan. 6 \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/harvard-law-professor-declares-jan-6-trump-indictment-not-likely-survive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shockingly weak<\/a> by constitutional standards \u2014 is unique in American law.<\/p>\n<p>But Chutkan is going to pretend that \u2062none of that is true \u2014 rolling her eyes when Trump\u2019s attorney mentions the Biden administration targeting his client, putting her face in her hands to signify her displeasure.<\/p>\n<p>The antics\u200d Lowell described are appalling \u2014 and Trump supporters on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/adele-faces-backlash-for-saying-she-loves-being-a-woman-at-gender-neutral-awards-show\/\" title=\"Adele Faces Backlash For Saying She Loves \u2018Being A Woman\u2019 At Gender-Neutral Awards Show\">social media weren\u2019<\/a>t\u200b shy about calling it out:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">She\u2019s so blatantly\u2064 biased even a blind man can see it.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 TXGal (@LisaWasHere7713) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LisaWasHere7713\/status\/1690421855939661825?\">August 12, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Of course because\u2062 she \u2064is a partisan hack!\u2063 Everyone see is\u2063 political!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 boricua12\u2062 (@rican1214) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rican1214\/status\/1690713558873518080?\">August 13, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">it is so clear that none of these charges would be happening if Trump was not running for president<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Judith Lynn (@LynnLynzal) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LynnLynzal\/status\/1690399137039364098?\">August 12,\u2062 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Chutkan\u2019s work history is \u2062not encouraging \u2014 she worked as an attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/judge-trumps-jan-6-case-worked-law-firm-hunter-biden-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at the same \u200cfirm<\/a>, at the same time, as the president\u2019s son Hunter Biden. (It was the Democratic powerhouse Boies, Schiller, &#038; Flexner LLP, where the chairman, David Boies, represented\u2062 Democratic nominee \u2064Al Gore in the Supreme Court during the \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oyez.org\/cases\/2000\/00-949\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2000 election fight<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Her attitude toward Jan. \u200d6 defendants has what can only be called\u2063 vengeful, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/obama-apointed-judge-ignores-doj-jails-jan-6-defendants-consequences\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">imposing punishments<\/a> that go \u2064beyond what even prosecutors have recommended.<\/p>\n<p>Her rulings so far\u200b might\u200b have a patina of legal logic, but could easily turn into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/free-speech-not-absolute-obama-judge-admonishes-trump-limiting-access-sensitive-evidence-jan-6-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">weapons against Trump<\/a> at \u2064a moment\u2019s notice.<\/p>\n<p>And, if Lowell\u2019s description is accurate, she\u2019s determined to pretend she is\u2062 administering justice as though nothing outside the courtroom is actually happening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe kind of repeatedly said, \u2018Trump\u2019s decision\u2064 to wage a political campaign to run for president comes second to the fact that \u2062he is\u200d now a criminal defendant, going to criminal trial, and he\u2019s going to be \u2063treated\u2062 like any other\u2063 criminal defendant,&#8217;\u201d Lowell \u2063told Phang.<\/p>\n<p>But Trump is not\u200c any other criminal defendant. \u200dThe prosecution against him would not have been brought against any other criminal defendant. And its ramifications are going to be \u2063beyond any\u200b other criminal defendant\u2019s case \u2014 at least in\u200d the political realm.<\/p>\n<p>Chutkan\u2019s apparent determination to pretend reality\u200d doesn\u2019t exist \u2014 and \u200bher teenage melodrama methods\u2064 of demonstrating that determination \u2014 look likely to tarnish not only \u200dTrump\u2019s case with her contempt but the reputation of the American legal \u200dsystem as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>Tanya Chutkan can pretend justice in her courtroom\u2062 is blind \u2014 she can roll her eyes and put her head\u2064 in her hands and do engage \u2063in every other form of teenager melodrama that will thrill her liberal fans.<\/p>\n<p>But the rest of the \u2064country\u2062 isn\u2019t blind to what\u2019s happening here.
