Kennedy Jr. Walks Back on Abortion Statement<\/h2>\n<p>Democratic 2024 presidential candidate Robert \u2062F. Kennedy Jr. has walked back on a\u2063 recent statement \u200bthat he would \u2063institute\u200c a\u2064 federal ban on abortion after \u200dthree months of pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe a decision to abort a child \u200cshould be up\u200c to the women \u200cduring the first three months of \u2064life,\u201d Mr. Kennedy told NBC\u200b News\u200b during an\u200b interview \u200con Sunday. The \u2064Democrat\u200d candidate then confirmed that \u200bhe\u200c supports capping abortions\u2064 at \u200bthree months. When \u2064asked whether this\u2062 means he would sign\u2064 a federal ban on abortion after three months, Mr. Kennedy replied, \u201cYes, I would.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce the child is viable outside the womb, I think \u2063then the state\u200d has\u2063 an\u2064 interest in protecting that \u200bchild,\u201d he \u200bsaid while \u200cadding \u201cI\u2019m for\u200c medical freedom. Kennedy\u200d Jr.\u2019s stated position is a stark contrast to \u200cthe Democratic Party\u2019s radical\u2064 stance \u200cof abortion\u200b on demand,\u200d with no \u200dprotection for babies in the womb or their mothers, right up to the end of\u200d pregnancy,\u201d SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser said in an Aug. 13\u200d statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt recalls a party that most of its leaders today, including\u2064 Joe Biden before he\u2062 caved to\u200c the extreme Left, have abandoned\u2014one that believed, \u2064or \u2064at least claimed\u2062 to believe, that abortion\u200d should be \u2018rare.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>However, \u2062the\u200c Kennedy campaign soon issued a\u200b clarification \u2062in which the candidate backtracked on his earlier comment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday,\u2064 Mr. Kennedy misunderstood a \u2062question posed to\u2064 him by\u200b a NBC reporter in a crowded, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rfk-jr-backtracks-on-abortion-comments-always-the-womans-right-to-choose\/\" title=\"RFK Jr. reverses stance on abortion: 'Woman's right to choose always'\">noisy exhibit hall<\/a> \u200cat the\u200c Iowa State Fair,\u201d the \u200dAug. 13 statement\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IsaacDovere\/status\/1690889210872360960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Kennedy\u2019s position on abortion is that it is always the woman\u2019s right to choose. He does not\u2062 support \u2064legislation banning\u200d abortion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In response,\u2062 Ali Vitali, the NBC\u2063 journalist \u2064who\u2064 interviewed Mr. \u2064Kennedy on the abortion issue, posted a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/alivitali\/status\/1690890657655590913\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">transcript<\/a> of the exchange on \u200cX, \u2063stating that she had asked the question \u201cmultiple\u200d times to make\u2063 sure we\u2019re \u200bunderstanding\u2014even at\u200d one point saying I was surprised by \u200dthe stance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During a town \u2063hall event\u200c in New Hampshire\u200d in\u2062 June, Mr. Kennedy had labeled\u200c himself \u201cpro-choice\u201d while \u200cspeaking\u200c in favor of legal abortion.<\/p>\n<h2>Biden Backs Abortion<\/h2>\n<p>Abortion is a key\u2062 issue in the upcoming 2024 \u2063presidential <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/in-depth-abortion-emerges-as-a-defining-issue-for-2024-presidential-hopefuls-5275020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">election<\/a>, with leading candidates from Democrat \u2063and Republican parties at odds with each other on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>President Biden, who \u200dis running for \u2064a \u200dsecond term under the Democratic Party, \u200dhas been supportive of abortion, except during\u200d the last three months of pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to a crowd in Maryland in late June, the president \u200csaid that \u201cI \u200dhappen to be a practicing Catholic. I\u2019m \u2062not \u2064big \u200bon abortion. But guess what? Roe v. Wade got it right,\u201d according to Fox News.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHistorically, the first three months or thereabouts, in all major religions, was: That\u2019s between a woman and\u200b her doctor,\u201d he said.\u200d \u201cThe\u2063 next three months is between, \u200cI mean, just \u200ca woman and her family. That is why we must re-elect President \u200bBiden and Vice President Harris.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Republican Stance on Abortion<\/h2>\n<p>On the\u200c Republican side,\u200c former President Donald Trump,\u2062 who is \u2063leading \u200cthe GOP primaries, has taken\u200d a stance against pro-abortion \u2062laws.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I&#8217;m reelected, I will continue to fight against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-calls-indictment-a-badge-of-courage-brags-about-overturning-roe-at-conservative-meeting\/\" title=\"Trump proudly refers to his indictment as a 'badge of courage' and boasts about his success in overturning Roe v. And Joe Biden withdrew the United States from this historic declaration his \u200cvery first week\u200c in office.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former president \u200dhas not yet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/desantis-dismisses-idea-women-could-be-legally-punished-for-breaking-abortion-laws-5450961\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">committed<\/a> to instituting a\u200b 15-week federal\u2062 ban on abortion.<\/p>\n<p>The second leading candidate in the GOP, Florida\u2063 Governor\u200c Ron\u2064 DeSantis, has also refused\u2064 to commit\u2064 to such a\u200c move. In an\u200b Aug.\u2064 8 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/desantis-dismisses-idea-women-could-be-legally-punished-for-breaking-abortion-laws-5450961\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a> with \u200bNBC, Mr. DeSantis indicated that abortion is a state issue \u200drather than a federal one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do think the federal government would have an interest \u200cin, say, preventing post-birth abortions or\u2062 things\u200b that are really horrific.
