The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mcdonalds-erases-some-mentions-of-esg-from-its-website-report\/\" title=\"McDonald's removes 'ESG' references from its website, says report.\">fast-food \u2063giant \u200cremoved<\/a> several mentions of &#8220;ESG&#8221; (environmental, social, and \u200cgovernance) at a time when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-stonewall-inn-is-no-longer-serving-some-anheuser-busch-products\/\" title=\"The Stonewall Inn Is No Longer Serving Some Anheuser-Busch Products\">corporate accountability<\/a> \u2063on \u2063these issues is under close scrutiny.<\/p>\n<p>An \u2062analysis by Bloomberg revealed\u200c that McDonald&#8217;s &#8220;Purpose \u200d&#038; Impact&#8221;\u200d website underwent some alterations. However, the company \u200baffirmed its commitment to \u2062annual reporting on its progress regarding social and environmental goals.<\/p>\n<p>This analysis comes \u2062shortly after a\u2064 study revealed that companies with high ESG scores, as reported by Moody&#8217;s, MSCI, \u2062and Refinitiv, actually pollute \u2063as much as those with low ratings.<\/p>\n<p>The study, conducted by ESG\/climate index platform provider Scientific Beta, \u200bfound that high ESG ratings have little to no\u2062 relation to carbon intensity, even \u2064when considering only the\u2064 environmental pillar of \u200cthese ratings.<\/p>\n<p>McDonald&#8217;s wording change \u200dhas been\u200c met with skepticism on Twitter.\u200d Critics argue\u2062 that altering titles doesn&#8217;t \u2064matter if the underlying policies\u2062 remain \u2062the same.<\/p>\n<p>Will Hild,\u2063 executive director of Consumers&#8217; Research and a frequent critic \u200cof ESG investing, wrote on Twitter, &#8220;Consumers aren&#8217;t going to be fooled by word games\u2014changing the\u200c titles around doesn&#8217;t matter when they&#8217;re pushing \u200bthe same woke politics.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>State Financial Officers Foundation, a \u200dpublic policy\u200d nonprofit\u200b organization, applauded the change but urged McDonald&#8217;s to go further. \u200cThey emphasized the importance of focusing on customers rather than engaging in\u200d boardroom activism.<\/p>\n<p>Patrick Bet-David, CEO of online content company Valuetainment, expressed his view\u2064 that ESG \u2064is becoming a curse word. He \u200bpointed out that\u2063 McDonald&#8217;s may have hidden their ESG reference\u2064 but \u2062maintained \u2064identical policies.<\/p>\n<p>This skepticism echoes a similar situation\u200d in\u2064 June when BlackRock CEO Larry Fink\u2062 announced that he\u200d would \u200dno\u2063 longer use the ESG term.\u200d Fink stated that the term had been\u2064 misused\u200b by both the far left and the \u200cfar right.<\/p>\n<p>While\u2063 some welcome these changes, others remain skeptical. Only time\u2062 will tell if these alterations are a sincere change of heart or merely a response\u200d to public pressure.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that S&#038;P Global recently announced\u2064 that it will no\u2063 longer include ESG scores in its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/peru-votes-to-impeach-its-fifth-president-in-6-years\/\" title=\"Peru Votes to Impeach Its Fifth President in 6 Years\">credit ratings<\/a>.
