Dalbir Bala of La Salle, Manitoba, left his Ford\u200b Lightning electric vehicle (EV) in Minnesota last month after he failed\u200b to charge its battery at two different \u200bcharging \u200dstations. He \u200balso\u200b upgraded\u2063 his home&#8217;s electrical\u200d panel and spent an \u2063additional $16,000 \u200cinstalling chargers at both his \u2064house and his trucking business.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Bala\u2019s\u2064 wife and three children joined him for the \u2062trip to \u2063Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, and Chicago, setting out with a fully-charged battery and three scheduled stops to recharge along the way.<\/p>\n<p>His first stop was in Fargo, North \u200dDakota, roughly \u2062350 kilometers south of Winnipeg. He\u200d paid $56 \u200cto\u2063 charge his vehicle&#8217;s battery from 10 percent to\u200b 90 percent \u2063capacity.<\/p>\n<p>The problems \u200dbegan at his next\u2062 stop in Albertville, Minnesota, \u200bwhen he received\u200c a \u201cfaulty connection\u201d message in his truck after he plugged \u2062in the charger. \u2064He \u200cdialed the number on the charger for assistance but \u200breceived no response.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2062 family headed to another charging station\u200b in Elk River 15 minutes \u200caway but the charger also did not work there.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By now \u2064it\u200d was \u200blate afternoon. We were \u2062really stuck, hungry, and heartbroken,&#8221; Mr.\u2064 Bala said.<\/p>\n<p>With only 15 kilometers of battery\u2062 life remaining, he decided\u2063 to \u200cditch his Lightning. \u200dHe had it towed to a Ford dealership, and the\u200d family finished\u2064 their trip to Chicago by renting a gas-powered Toyota 4Runner.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was\u2062 in [the] shop for 6 months. \u2064I can\u2019t take \u2063it to my lake cabin. I\u200d cannot take it for off-grid camping.\u2064 I cannot take\u2063 for even a road trip,&#8221; \u2062Mr. Bala said. &#8220;I\u2064 can only drive in city\u2014biggest\u200b scam\u2063 of \u200cmodern times.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It is unknown why Mr. Bala&#8217;s truck\u200d was unable to charge at Albertville.\u2064 The fast charger was operational on July 27, the\u2063 day he visited, \u2064according to Robbin Nesbit, sales manager for the Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric\u2062 Association, with usage logs indicating that customers \u2063were able to successfully \u2063charge their EVs.<\/p>\n<p>Ford gave a statement to \u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/motors\/8819130\/ford-electric-vehicle-issues-charging-general-motors-canada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The U.S. Sun<\/a>. &#8220;We are looking into this individual customer\u2019s case,&#8221;\u200b said a spokesperson \u200bfor the company.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Bala believes that more should be done by the government to guarantee that\u200d people receive the right information on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-climate-agenda-wont-replace-jobs-it-seeks-to-kill-separate-ap-wapo-fact-checks-suggest\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s Climate Agenda Won\u2019t Replace Jobs It Seeks To Kill, Separate AP, WaPo Fact-Checks Suggest\">electric vehicles<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;People have\u200d to make the right choices.
