Even that apparent\u2062 victory did not satisfy the most conservative House Republicans, who \u200dfought the McCarthy-Biden agreement believing\u2062 that it did \u2063not\u200c do enough to reduce deficit spending.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The request includes $13.1\u200d billion in \u2064military aid for Ukraine and $8.5 billion in economic and humanitarian relief.\u2064 Aid for Ukraine has increasingly been\u2062 questioned by some in Congress\u200d as that country\u2019s war to repel \u2064the Russian invasion nears\u2063 the end of \u200da second summer with\u2062 no U.S. exit strategy in place.<\/p>\n<p>The president also requested $12 billion \u2064to replenish the federal Disaster Relief \u2064Fund, $3.3 billion to counter China\u2019s influence in developing countries, $4 million for border security, \u200dservices for illegal immigrants, \u200band to combat the flow of\u200c fentanyl into \u2064the country.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure style=\"width:640px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) \u200cled the charge of criticism, accusing\u2063 President Biden of political manipulation by \u200dcombining the request \u2064for\u2064 additional aid to Ukraine with \u2064approval of domestic disaster\u2063 relief funds. Florida\u2063 lawmakers on both sides \u2063of the aisle had already requested adding $11.5 billion to the DRF.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden \u200bowes \u200cAmericans an explanation of his \u200cstrategy, something he\u2019s refused \u2064to do since Putin invaded Ukraine.\u2062 We\u2019ve seen incredible\u200c bravery\u2064 by the Ukrainians \u2062over the last\u2064 18 months, but we\u2019ve \u200balso seen U.S. stockpiles\u2064 dwindle, European countries \u200dslow-walk critical\u200b supplies, \u200cand China grow\u200d more aggressive towards the\u2064 U.S. and our national\u2063 interests. \u200bWe cannot give a blank check to continue the status quo,\u201d Mr. Rubio said in a statement released on Aug. 10.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Mike Braun \u200c(R-Ind.) has been a critic of the administration\u2019s\u200d focus on Ukraine and \u200dthe\u2062 seeming lack\u200b of attention to\u200d inflation and other matters\u200b directly affecting Americans. In response to President Biden\u2019s funding request, a Braun staffer pointed to \u200dthe senator&#8217;s July 14 op-ed published in The Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Braun wrote that the real \u2064question to ask is, \u201cWhat is \u2063the endgame here? Our $100 billion\u200d contribution has already\u2063 eclipsed Russia\u2019s entire\u2064 military budget. When\u2064 that\u2064 number\u200c hits $200 \u2063billion, $300 billion, or a trillion \u2063dollars, will we \u2062just keep paying?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A number of House Republicans were also skeptical of \u200bsending more aid to Ukraine without\u2064 an end\u2064 in sight.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Americans are struggling to pay for basic necessities, and our national credit rating just got downgraded for the second time in U.S. history.\u200c Yet this\u2063 president wants \u200cto send $24 billion of our\u2063 taxpayers\u2019 money to\u2064 Ukraine, a country\u200d we\u2019ve already granted over $113 billion in unchecked assistance? I \u200bdon\u2019t think so,&#8221; Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) told The Epoch Times.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), who led opposition to the \u2062spending compromise\u200c negotiated\u2063 with President Biden,\u200c was even more direct.\u2062 \u201cNo. This should be a \u200dnon-starter for the @HouseGOP. It\u2019s time to\u2064 stand \u200cup for Americans and against the uniparty. #NoSecurityNoFunding,\u201d\u200b he wrote in an\u200b Aug. 10 \u200dpost on X, formerly known as Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>Eleven other House Republicans, led by Rep. Warren Davidson\u2064 (R-Ohio), wrote\u200d to \u2062President Biden on Aug. 11, stating their opposition to the\u2062 additional spending \u200cand \u2064demanding that he clarify his intention for \u2064the Ukraine conflict.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure style=\"width:640px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Rep.
