This decision seems to have originated\u2064 from Weiss himself.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOn Tuesday of \u2064this week, Mr. Weiss advised me that, in his \u200djudgment, his investigation had reached a stage at which he should continue his work as a\u200d special counsel, and he asked to be\u200b so\u2063 appointed,\u201d Garland\u200d said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon considering his request, as well as the <a title=\"David Weiss has been appointed as special counsel for the Hunter Biden investigation by Garland.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-investigation-garland-appoints-david-weiss-as-special-counsel\/\">extraordinary circumstances relating<\/a> to this matter, \u200bI have concluded that it is in the \u200bpublic interest to appoint him as special counsel.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Weiss, who was appointed \u2063by\u2062 former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-court-bombshell-federal-judge-agreed-jack-smith-former-president-flee-prosecution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a>, now possesses the authority to conduct the\u200c Hunter Biden investigation independently and as he sees fit.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis appointment confirms my commitment to provide Mr. Weiss \u200c [with] all the resources he requests,\u201d Garland said Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt also reaffirms that Mr. Weiss has\u2064 the authority he needs to conduct a thorough investigation and to continue to take the steps he deems appropriate independently, based only on the facts and the law.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Garland emphasized that Weiss will have the power to \u200boversee the investigation, make decisions regarding charges, and will not\u200d be subject to day-to-day supervision from any department official. However, Weiss&#8217; final assessment will be reviewed by Garland himself.<\/p>\n<p>In April, an\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bombshell-irs-supervisor-steps-forward-blow-whistle-troubling-details-hunter-biden-investigation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IRS\u200b whistleblower<\/a> claimed that Weiss had <a title=\"Merrick Garland reveals Special Counsel appointed for Hunter Biden investigation.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/merrick-garland-announces-special-counsel-has-been-appointed-in-hunter-biden-probe\/\">previously sought special counsel status<\/a> in the Hunter Biden case but \u2062was denied. Hunter ultimately withdrew from the deal and pleaded not guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n<p>Both Hunter and Joe Biden are currently\u200d facing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fbi-report-claim-burisma-cfo-literally-said-hired-hunter-protect-us-dad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">allegations<\/a> of selling access to Joe Biden during his time\u2062 as vice president \u2063under the Obama administration. Additionally, they have been accused of accepting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bombshell-fbi-doc-source-said-burisma-leaders-claimed-pay-10-million-joe-hunter-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$5 million bribes<\/a> from the Ukrainian energy company Burisma.<\/p>\n<p>Rep.
