This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/elite-san-francisco-school-nixes-merit-based-admission\/\" title=\"Elite San Francisco School Nixes Merit-Based Admission\">law prohibits<\/a> the \u200cunion from \u200ddeducting association fees from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/betsy-mccaughey-teachers-union-thuggery\/\" title=\"Betsy McCaughey: Teachers Union Thuggery\">teachers&#8217; paychecks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Tennessee \u200bEducation Association, \u2064representing over 45,000 teachers, chose to\u2062 dismiss the lawsuit after a three-judge panel denied their motion to temporarily\u200b block\u200c the law.<\/p>\n<p>Following the union&#8217;s voluntary offer to\u2062 dismiss the \u2062suit, the court <a href=\"https:\/\/tennesseestar.com\/justice\/tennessee-education-association-files-to-dismiss-its-suit-against-law-banning-dues-deduction-from-paychecks\/sberry\/2023\/08\/10\/\">ordered<\/a> its dismissal without prejudice.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2063law not only\u2062 prohibits \u200bpaycheck deductions but also <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/tennessee-teacher-lawsuit-8fa4e2a6c42215d825064bc72fcfca36\">raises<\/a> the minimum salary for\u2064 teachers to $50,000 by the 2026-2027 school year.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the union withdrawing its \u200csuit, the court \u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/tennesseestar.com\/education\/court-denies-tennessee-teachers-union-request-to-block-law-banning-dues-deduction-from-paychecks\/sberry\/2023\/08\/03\/\">stated<\/a> \u200d that the union&#8217;s\u2064 arguments were \u200bunlikely to succeed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We hold that the Plaintiffs are unlikely to succeed on the merits of either claim,&#8221; \u2063the court <a href=\"https:\/\/tennesseestar.com\/education\/court-denies-tennessee-teachers-union-request-to-block-law-banning-dues-deduction-from-paychecks\/sberry\/2023\/08\/03\/\">said<\/a>. &#8220;Plaintiffs have failed to show that the Act substantially impairs\u200b either \u2064set of contracts implicated by the change in the payroll deduction process.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the union argued that the law was unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sliding a\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tennessee-teachers-union-drops-lawsuit-demanding-right-to-deduct-fees-from-paychecks\/\" title=\"TN Teachers' Union Abandons Lawsuit for Paycheck Fee Deductions\">payroll \u200cdues deduction ban<\/a> in a bill \u2062to raise the minimum pay was a \u200ccynical\u200d attack on Tennessee teachers,&#8221; expressed Tennessee Education Association \u2063president Tanya \u2064Coats\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/tennessee-teacher-lawsuit-8fa4e2a6c42215d825064bc72fcfca36\">in \u2062June<\/a>. &#8220;The ban\u200d was \u200dmean-spirited, and the \u2063way it\u200d passed was unconstitutional.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The union has invested \u2064millions of dollars in\u200b political lobbying. J.C. Bowman, the executive \u2063director\u2064 of a non-partisan\u2062 teachers&#8217; association called Professional Educators of Tennessee, <a href=\"https:\/\/tennesseestar.com\/education\/tennessee-education-association-spent-millions-on-political-lobbying-over-past-decade\/sberry\/2023\/07\/28\/\">stated<\/a> that the majority of the funds go towards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/iowa-republicans-push-to-halt-woke-agenda-in-state-universities\/\" title=\"Iowa Republicans push to halt \u2018woke agenda\u2019 in state universities\">supporting left-leaning<\/a> causes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Teachers&#8217; unions consistently rank among the top spenders on \u200bpolitics,&#8221; Bowman <a href=\"https:\/\/tennesseestar.com\/education\/tennessee-education-association-spent-millions-on-political-lobbying-over-past-decade\/sberry\/2023\/07\/28\/\">told<\/a> \u2062 the <em>Tennessee Star<\/em>. &#8220;Their goal is not improved public education,\u2062 but rather power, money, and\u2064 influence. Most of\u200c those dollars go to candidates on the left.
