Pritzker\u2064 (D-IL)<\/span><\/footer>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The court&#8217;s narrow 4-3 ruling allows Illinois to prohibit the sale of certain handguns, rifles like\u200c AR-15s, magazines for long\u2064 guns holding more \u2063than 10 rounds, and magazines for\u2063 handguns holding more than 15 rounds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Democratic Judge \u200dElizabeth\u2062 Rochford, \u200cin\u2063 her majority\u200d decision, \u200ddismissed the plaintiffs&#8217; attempt to combine a Second Amendment claim with an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/calif-high-school-athletes-sue-for-right-to-play-indoor-sports\/\" title=\"Calif. high school athletes sue for right to play indoor sports\">equal protection argument<\/a>. She emphasized that the law&#8217;s constitutionality had already \u2063been established\u2062 through previous arguments.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Protecting\u200c Illinois Communities<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Governor J.B. Pritzker, \u2064who signed \u200dthe\u200d ban into law, praised\u200d the court&#8217;s decision, stating that it is a crucial step towards ensuring the safety of\u2064 Illinoisans in all corners of the state. He referred to a tragic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/shooting-sends-4th-of-july-parade-into-chaos-multiple-feared-injured-or-dead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shooting<\/a> \u2062 in Highland Park on July 4, 2022, which \u2064claimed seven lives and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ga-officials-say-investigation-into-deadly-nitrogen-leak-at-poultry-plant-could-take-years\/\" title=\"Ga. officials say investigation into deadly nitrogen leak at poultry plant could take years\">left dozens injured<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY \u200bWIRE APP<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>A Dissenting Opinion<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In \u2062her\u200d dissent, Judge Lisa Holder White highlighted the importance of citizens&#8217; rights to own guns for self-defense, drawing \u200cupon the principles on\u2062 which the\u200d United States was founded.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;This great nation was founded on the premise that the\u200d right of law-abiding citizens to bear arms\u2062 is essential to what it means to be a free people. The right \u200dof law-abiding citizens to possess firearms and to arm \u2063themselves \u2063to \u200bprotect \u200dtheir families, their\u200c homes, and themselves must not be infringed,&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<footer><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8211; Judge Lisa Holder White<\/span><\/footer>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Judge White argued that \u2062the law should be struck down as it did not\u200b meet the necessary constitutional requirements when it\u2062 was\u2063 passed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The U.S.\u200b Supreme Court has previously declined to\u2062 hear a challenge to\u2062 the case, opting to await an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jury-selection-for-chauvin-trial-delayed\/\" title=\"Jury selection for Chauvin trial delayed\">appeals court ruling<\/a> on the\u2062 matter.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Illinois Supreme Court upheld a ban on AR-15s and similar firearms, despite Republican objections of unconstitutionality.
