According\u200b to Carlson, the interview with Sund was scheduled to air \u200don \u200dthe network April 24, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/media\/tucker-carlson-leaving-fox-news-rcna81146\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">same day<\/a> Fox News announced the anchor\u2019s termination. \u200b(Another already-taped <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/04\/27\/fox-news-silenced-my-conversation-with-tucker-carlson-on-the-topic-of-silencing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">interview<\/a>, with a Federalist senior contributor,\u2062 was also \u2062stifled). Fox News refused to release the footage of Sund\u2019s conversation with Carlson, so the pair recorded another sit-down published on \u2062Twitter Thursday.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201c[Sund] knew more about what\u200c happened than virtually \u2063anyone else \u200bin the United States,\u201d Carlson said. \u2063\u201cYet congressional investigators weren\u2019t interested in talking to him. The \u2064media, not interested in talking to him. DHS, FBI Hid Intelligence From\u200b Capitol Police<\/h3>\n<p>Sund went \u2062on to\u200d make explosive allegations of federal misconduct related to the Capitol \u200cchaos that raised more questions than answers about how and why \u200bthe complex was left vulnerable. The Capitol \u200dPolice, Sund said, were left in the\u200b dark about a cascade of intelligence gathered by the\u200d FBI and Department of Homeland Security that warned about \u2063the \u200brally turning violent.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200b intelligence that Capitol \u200cPolice gathered, Sund said, indicated a level of \u200cpolitical activity similar to \u2063previous rallies that featured \u201climited skirmishes\u201d\u2063 with counter-protesters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cComing into it,\u201d Sund said, Capitol Police received \u201cabsolutely zero\u201d of \u2064the\u2063 \u201cintelligence that we know \u2063now existed\u200b talking about attacking the Capitol, killing my\u200b police officers, attacking members of Congress,\u200b and killing members of Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNone of that was included in the intelligence coming up,\u201d Sund said. \u201cWe now know FBI, DHS was swimming in that\u2064 intelligence. We also know now that the military \u2063seemed to \u200bhave some very concerning\u2063 intelligence as well. \u201c<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNone\u2062 of the intelligence,\u201d Sund said, was shared with the Capitol Police chief.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve done many\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dems-join-gop-to-block-biden-from-selling-strategic-oil-reserves-to-china\/\" title=\"Dems Join GOP to Block Biden From Selling Strategic Oil Reserves to China\">national security events<\/a> and this was handled \u200ddifferently,\u201d Sund added. \u201cNo intelligence, no\u2063 [Joint Intelligence Bulletin], no\u200c coordination, no \u200bdiscussion in advance.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>2. Milley Wanted to Shut Down D.C. Ahead Of Jan. \u20626<\/h3>\n<p>Military\u2064 officials were so\u200d concerned \u200dabout the intelligence that\u2063 warned of an explosive riot that the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, Mark Milley, considered preemptively shutting down the city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cActing\u2062 Secretary of Defense [Christopher] Miller and\u2062 General Milley had both discussed locking down the city of Washington\u200b D.C. because they \u2063were so \u200dworried about violence at the Capitol on Jan. 6,\u201d Sund said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Sund, the \u2064two\u2064 Pentagon leaders discussed even revoking permits on Capitol\u2063 Hill out of concern for violence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou \u200bknow who issues the permits on Capitol Hill\u2062 for demonstrations?\u201d Sund said. \u201cI do. You\u2064 know who wasn\u2019t told? Me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On\u2062 Jan. 4, however, Miller signed\u2062 a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justsecurity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Jan6-Clearinghouse-Acting-Secretary-of-Defense-Christopher-Miller-Memorandum-for-Secretary-of-Army-Employment-Guidance-for-the-DC-National-Guard-Jan-4-2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">memo<\/a> \u201crestricting the\u2063 National Guard from carrying the various weapons, any weapons, any \u2063civil disobedience equipment that would be utilized for the very demonstrations or violence he sees coming.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>3. Congressional Leadership Denied National\u2063 Guard \u200cRequests \u200bBefore and During Riot<\/h3>\n<p>Despite federal intelligence warning of mass upheaval amid the joint session of Congress,\u2063 Sund explained how he was denied preemptive \u200bdeployment of the National Guard twice in\u200c the days leading up to the riot. On Jan. 3, \u200c2021, Sund sought approval from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pro-trump-religious-groups-begin-turning-up-heat-on-gop-to-take-action-on-marjorie-taylor-greene\/\" title=\"Pro-Trump, Religious Groups Begin Turning Up Heat On GOP To Take Action On Marjorie Taylor Greene\">congressional leadership<\/a> for\u200b guard deployment as was\u200d still required by law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was denied twice\u200b because\u2063 of optics and because the intelligence\u200c didn\u2019t support\u200d us,\u201d Sund said. \u201cI \u200bwas denied by Paul\u200c Irving, House sergeant-at-arms, and \u200calso Mike \u200dStenger, Senate sergeant-at-arms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Irving served under the direction of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Stenger reported to GOP Senate\u2063 Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2062former Capitol Police\u200b chief said he was forced to beg for National Guard assistance as the turmoil escalated. While the riot grew, Sund said he called House Sergeant-at-Arms Irving to demand reinforcements from the nearby Guard troops.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m told by Paul Irving, \u2018I\u2019m gonna run it up the chain, I\u2019ll get back to you,&#8217;\u201d Sund said. \u201cHis \u2064chain would be up to Nancy Pelosi. He \u200bdidn\u2019t have to do that \u200bbut he wouldn\u2019t give me authorization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Irving \u2064was allowed to authorize the deployment without Pelosi\u2019s approval in the event of an emergency,\u200b Sund said. The former speaker\u2019s office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/02\/21\/us\/politics\/capitol-riot-security-delays.html\">co<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/02\/21\/us\/politics\/capitol-riot-security-delays.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nfirmed<\/a> to The New York Times that Pelosi herself was asked to dispatch the National \u2064Guard.<\/p>\n<p>Sund said Stenger was called next, who \u2063in turn said, \u201cLet\u2019s wait to hear \u200cwhat we\u2063 hear from Paul [Irving].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the next 71\u2062 minutes I\u2064 make 32 \u200ccalls,\u201d Sund \u200dsaid, with no help from congressional leadership.<\/p>\n<h3>4. Secret Service \u200bTurned \u2062Over One Text \u200cto J6 Committee<\/h3>\n<p>While Sund made \u2064dozens of\u200d calls from the Capitol command center, the first agency to come\u2064 to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/arrest-my-entire-staff-we-are-not-wearing-masks-rep-massie-heckles-pelosi-over-mask-mandate\/\" title=\"\u2018Arrest My Entire Staff. We Are Not Wearing Masks\u2019: Rep. Massie Heckles Pelosi Over Mask Mandate\">police chief\u2019<\/a>s assistance was\u2062 the Secret Service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the\u200d first people to offer assistance was United States Secret Service,\u201d Sund said. \u201cBy law, \u200dI shouldn\u2019t have requested their assistance \u2026 until I had approval. But I\u2019m\u200d looking at my men and women having their \u200casses handed to them and my first thought was\u2064 \u2018f-ck it, I will take \u2062whatever discipline there is. Send me whatever you got.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was the one text Secret Service turned over,\u201d Sund added.<\/p>\n<p>The agency had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/7-revelations-from-ex-capitol-police-chief-that-explode-democrats-jan-6-narrative\/\" title=\"7 Explosive Revelations from Former Capitol Police Chief That Shatter Democrats' Jan. 6 Narrative\">apparently deleted text messages<\/a> from Jan. 5-6, 2021, that were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/national-archives-asks-secret-service-probe-possible-deletion-jan-6-te-rcna38941\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">subpoenaed<\/a> by the House \u200cselect committee probing the riot last\u2063 summer.\u2062 The only message turned over\u200d was Sund\u2019s \u2063out-of-order request for support.<\/p>\n<h3>5. New Jersey State Police Arrived to Help Before National Guard<\/h3>\n<p>While Sund \u200bwas begging congressional leaders to greenlight assistance from the\u2062 National Guard, New Jersey State Police were on their \u2064way to reinforce Capitol Police.<\/p>\n<p>The 150 to\u2062 180 National Guard troops who were \u201cwithin eyesight\u201d of\u200c the Capitol, Sund told Carlson, were put in vehicles and driven around the complex\u200c back to the D.C. Armory. Instead, Sund received the evening troops, who\u2064 didn\u2019t arrive on\u200b the scene until 6 \u200cp.m. By that point, according to Sund, the Capitol was under control.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I\u2019m begging for\u2064 assistance,\u201d Sund said, \u200d\u201cthe Pentagon sent in resources to generals\u2019 houses \u200cto \u200bprotect their\u2062 homes but not me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By the time \u200bthe National Guard finally showed up, Sund noted, \u201cNew Jersey State Police [had] beat them to the Capitol.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>National Guardsmen were then positioned in front of \u200cthe Capitol \u2063to take \u201cpictures for\u2062 military magazines\u201d as \u201cheroes\u201d of Jan. 6.<\/p>\n<h3>6. Sund Wasn\u2019t Told About Federal Informants Present at the Capitol<\/h3>\n<p>In the fall of 2021, The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/09\/25\/us\/politics\/capitol-riot-fbi-informant.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">confirmed<\/a> the\u200b presence of at least \u200done federal informant at the Jan. 6 Capitol riot after the paper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/06\/18\/technology\/misinformation-unindicted-co-conspirators-capitol-riot.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dismissed<\/a> such claims as a conspiracy theory. The former Capitol police chief, however, was\u2063 kept in the dark on undercover operations with \u201cno idea\u201d how many were in the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department had even deployed special commandos with \u201cshoot to kill authority\u201d at the Capitol, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/exclusive-secret-commandos-shoot-kill-authority-were-capitol-1661330\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a> to Newsweek.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot to share that in the intelligence,\u201d Sund said, \u201cthat\u2019s concerning.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>7. Lawmakers Didn\u2019t Want Sund to Testify<\/h3>\n<p>In the aftermath of the Capitol riot, lawmakers began to schedule hearings \u2064on the\u200d security failures while the fever grew to launch a snap\u200b impeachment of the outgoing president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI fought to testify,\u201d Sund \u2062said, but \u201cthey didn\u2019t want me to testify in the Senate hearing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u200chearing in the upper chamber was \u2062initially limited to current Capitol employees. Sund was excluded from the lineup because he was\u2064 immediately dismissed from his job as chief of police \u2062after the\u2062 riot. Irving and Stenger would have also\u2062 initially\u2064 been excluded. The \u200dtrio of security officers eventually \u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gL_5GOidFzA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">testified<\/a> in\u200c the upper chamber after Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/02\/13\/senate-acquits-trump-for-second-time-one-year-after-first-pointless-impeachment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">acquittal<\/a> in February 2021, with Sund the only one to appear in person.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile \u200cPelosi, who was in charge of\u200d the Capitol as speaker of \u200dthe\u200b House,\u200b was \u201coff limits\u201d to investigation \u2014\u2062 leaving \u200bopen questions such as whether the speaker was briefed on the potential for violence from other agencies. \u200cThe House \u200cspeaker\u2064 even <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/01\/04\/pelosi-is-blocking-access-to-house-january-6-records-what-is-she-hiding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">blocked<\/a> \u2062Republican\u200c access to relevant documents ignored by the Democrats\u2019 Jan. 6 Committee.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund is resolute in revealing the truth about the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
