Jordan<\/a><br \/>\n    <br \/>\n    <span>8\/7\/2023<\/span>\n  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mr. Weiss, \u200dthe\u200b U.S. attorney for the District of Delaware, was asked to lead the \u2062department&#8217;s investigation of Mr. Biden in February 2021. That \u2064investigation \u2062led\u200d to charges being filed against\u200c the first son \u200cin June, including two violations of failure to \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/no-aoc-mcdonalds-employees-in-denmark-arent-better-off\/\" title=\"No, AOC, McDonald\u2019s Employees in Denmark Aren\u2019t Better Off\">pay income tax<\/a> and one violation of unlawful possession of a firearm.<\/p>\n<p>In announcing \u2063those charges, however, Mr. Weiss also revealed that \u2064Mr. Biden had agreed to plead guilty to the\u2062 two tax offenses and enter a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-prosecutor-forced-to-make-confession-in-court-judge-orders-him-to-sit-down\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden's prosecutor compelled to confess in court, judge commands him to be seated.\">pretrial diversion\u2062 agreement<\/a> to avoid conviction on the firearms offense. The bargain, which was likely to result in no prison time, was immediately slammed by Republicans as a &#8220;sweetheart\u200c deal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But that \u2064deal fell \u2063apart \u2062in court\u2064 on July 26, when U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika expressed &#8220;concerns&#8221; \u200cthat the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/garland-appoints-special-counsel-in-hunter-biden-probe\/\" title=\"Garland assigns special counsel for Hunter Biden investigation.\">diversion agreement linked\u200d tax crimes<\/a>\u200c to resolving \u2063felony gun charges, describing this\u2064 as &#8220;atypical&#8221; and &#8220;unprecedented.&#8221; As a result, the deal was put on hold and Mr. Biden pleaded not\u200b guilty.<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u2063 Weiss has claimed in communications \u200dwith Congress that he has complete\u200c authority over the case, yet according to the testimony of \u2064two IRS whistleblowers, he was previously denied the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-ag-bill-barr-to-merrick-garland-appoint-a-special-counsel-already\/\" title=\"Former AG Bill Barr To Merrick Garland: Appoint A Special Counsel Already\">special counsel status<\/a> he requested. Mr. Weiss, however, has denied\u200c those claims.
