They \u200care discussing the possibility of an interview as part\u2064 of an investigation \u2062into the president\u2019s handling\u2062 of classified documents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>NBC News <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/joe-biden\/biden-attorneys-negotiating-special-counsel-interview-terms-rcna99360\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>reports<\/span><\/a><span>  that Hur\u2019s \u2064team has been in contact with Biden&#8217;s lawyers to determine the timing, location, and topics that would be covered in the \u200cpotential interview. The negotiations are ongoing, and no\u2064 agreement has been reached yet on whether Biden will sit down for an interview. Biden is being represented in the investigation \u2064by Bob Bauer, a seasoned Democratic attorney who is married to Biden adviser Anita Dunn.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Hur as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sidney-powell-is-an-american-legal-giant\/\" title=\"Sidney Powell Is an American Legal Giant\">special counsel<\/a> on Jan. 12\u2062 to\u2063 investigate the handling of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/garland-appoints-special-prosecutor-to-investigate-classified-biden-docs\/\" title=\"Garland Appoints Special Prosecutor to Investigate Classified Biden Docs\">classified records found<\/a> at Biden\u2019s home in Delaware and his office \u2064at the Penn Biden \u2062Center in Washington, D.C. A batch of \u2064documents was discovered by\u200b an attorney for Biden at the Penn Biden Center on Nov.\u200c 2, just days before the midterm elections. However, the discovery was not disclosed until late \u200cDecember. The documents are said to\u2064 be from Biden\u2019s time as vice president and\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-negotiates-with-special-counsel-over-interview-in-classified-documents-probe-report\/\" title=\"Biden in Talks with Special Counsel for Classified Documents Probe: Report\">involve intelligence related<\/a> to the United Kingdom, Ukraine, and Iran. Biden <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/biden-stored-classified-docs-alongside-to-his-corvette-in-delaware-garage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>stored<\/span><\/a><span>  some of the records in his garage, right next to his classic Corvette Stingray convertible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The pace of Hur\u2019s investigation stands in stark contrast to Special Counsel \u2064Jack Smith\u2019s probe into former \u2064president \u200dDonald Trump\u2019s handling of classified documents. Smith, who was \u200bappointed as special counsel on Nov. 18, \u200bcharged Trump on June 8 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fbi-director-calls-legit-criticism-of-corrupt-fbi-violence-but-we-werent-born-yesterday-2\/\" title=\"FBI Director Calls Legit Criticism Of Corrupt FBI \u2018Violence,\u2019 But We Weren\u2019t Born Yesterday\">mishandling classified documents<\/a> after leaving office, and issued additional charges against the Republican on July 27.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>While Garland has praised Hur as an \u2064&#8221;even-handed&#8221; prosecutor, \u2063some Republicans have\u200b raised concerns about his impartiality due to his past work at the Justice Department. In 2018,\u200d Hur was part \u200dof a Justice Department team that attempted to block the release \u200cof a Republican memo exposing flaws \u200bin \u200cthe government\u2019s investigation of \u2063the Trump campaign\u2019s \u200bties to Russia, as reported by the <\/span><i><span>Washington Free Beacon<\/span><\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/like-a-fixer-for-the-democrats-nunes-worries-biden-special-counsel-may-be-biased\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Washington Free Beacon<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;Hur looks like a\u200d fixer for\u200b the Democrats and the Deep State,&#8221; said \u200dformer representative Devin Nunes\u200c (R., \u200dCalif.),\u2063 the author of \u200bthe memo, \u200din an interview with the \u2062 <\/span><i><span>Free Beacon<\/span><\/i><span>  earlier this\u2064 year.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Biden&#8217;s lawyers have been in talks with Special Counsel Hur for a month about a possible interview regarding the president&#8217;s handling of classified documents.
