Jerry Nadler (D., N.Y.).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am interested and there&#8217;s\u2063 a multitude of\u2064 folks encouraging me to run,&#8221; Cohen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.semafor.com\/article\/08\/10\/2023\/michael-cohen-congress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> <i>Semafor<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Cohen, who \u2062received a three<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ex-minneapolis-cop-thomas-lane-sentenced-to-3-years-for-manslaughter-in-george-floyd-death\/\" title=\"Ex-Minneapolis Cop Thomas Lane Sentenced to 3 Years for Manslaughter in George Floyd Death\">-year federal sentence<\/a> in 2018 after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-president-trump-gives-pardons-to-73-individuals-and-commutes-another-70-sentences-steve-bannon-is-included\/\" title=\"BREAKING: President Trump Gives Pardons to 73 Individuals and Commutes Another 70 Sentences \u2013 Steve Bannon Is Included\">pleading guilty<\/a> to fraud and perjury,\u200b among other crimes, spent just 13 months behind \u200dbars.<\/p>\n<p>The longtime Trump lawyer,\u2062 known for arranging payouts from \u2062Trump to porn star Stormy \u200cDaniels and model Karen McDougal, has since turned against his former boss. Following \u2062his release from prison, Cohen testified in Manhattan district \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-this-average-american-is-voting-for-donald-trump\/\" title=\"Why This Average American Is Voting for Donald Trump\">attorney<\/a> Alvin Bragg&#8217;s \u2063(D.) probe into Trump&#8217;s payouts.<\/p>\n<p>Cohen&#8217;s attorney, Democratic operative Lanny Davis, even claimed that &#8220;he sparked the investigation thanks\u200b in \u2063part \u2062to his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/virginia-candidate-will-forgo-salary-if-elected-governor\/\" title=\"Virginia Candidate Will Forgo Salary if Elected Governor\">political connections<\/a>&#8221; to Bragg&#8217;s predecessor, as the <i>Washington Free Beacon<\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/democratic-operative-takes-credit-for-sparking-trump-hush-money-probe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. Republicans have long argued that \u2062the Bragg probe is politically motivated.<\/p>\n<p>Cohen is not the only lawyer with a criminal record attempting to leverage their ties to Trump \u200bfor a political career.
