Newsom for not stopping release of convicted killer\">bipartisan group<\/a> of U.S.\u2062 lawmakers has sent \u200ba letter to FIFA, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fifa-reverses-course-bans-russian-national-team-from-world-cup\/\" title=\"FIFA Reverses Course, Bans Russian National Team from World Cup\">international governing body<\/a> of soccer, calling for the recognition of the exiled \u200dAfghanistan women&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/us-womens-soccer-team-kneels-for-anthem-wears-black-lives-matter\/\" title=\"US Women's Soccer Team Kneels for Anthem, Wears 'Black Lives Matter'\">soccer team<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>The team has been playing in exile in Australia since \u2062the Taliban took \u200dcontrol of the Afghan government in August\u200d 2021, causing\u200c many prominent \u200cwomen to flee\u2062 the country for fear of persecution.<\/p>\n<p>The Taliban went on to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/us-lawmakers-call-on-fifa-to-recognize-exiled-afghanistan-womens-soccer-team\/\" title=\"US lawmakers urge FIFA to acknowledge exiled Afghan women's soccer team.\">drastically limit women&#8217;<\/a>s freedoms \u2063and \u200crights, including banning women and girls from\u200b the\u200d country&#8217;s education system, in\u200b what the \u200dU.N. has said could amount to\u2063 a crime against humanity.<\/p>\n<p>Led by the co-chairs of the Congressional Soccer Caucus \u2013 \u2064Republican Representatives Don \u200cBacon \u200cand Darin LaHood, and Representatives\u200d Kathy Castor and Rick Larsen, both Democrats \u2013 the group called\u200c on FIFA to &#8220;allow the AWT (Afghanistan women&#8217;s \u200dteam) to represent every woman and girl trapped under Taliban rule\u2026 if not for the future of the\u200b beautiful \u2062game, then\u2062 for\u2062 the important\u200b message it sends to women and \u200bgirls around the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Afghan women&#8217;s team launched a petition \u2062at the end of July, calling on FIFA to recognize them as representatives of\u2062 their country.
