Nevertheless, the board stated that the universities have discontinued\u200b any requests for \u2064diversity statements.<\/p>\n<p>The Goldwater Institute \u2064argued that requiring diversity statements was unconstitutional under \u200cboth the First Amendment and Arizona&#8217;s state \u200cConstitution, which prohibits any religious or political test or \u2064qualification as\u2064 a condition of admission into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kansas-governor-vetoes-bills-banning-biological-males-from-womens-sports-protecting-parental-education-rights\/\" title=\"Kansas Governor Vetoes Bills Banning Biological Males From Women\u2019s Sports, Protecting Parental Education Rights\">public educational institutions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Goldwater Institute \u2064president\u200d and CEO\u2062 Victor Riches hailed the \u2063elimination \u2062of diversity statements as a &#8220;huge victory for academic freedom and the \u200bFirst Amendment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Goldwater Institute senior \u200bfellow Jonathan \u2062Butcher added, &#8220;DEI programs and \u2062&#8217;statements&#8217; do not produce free expression \u200bnor more \u2064diversity of thought, equal opportunities,\u2063 and a culture that\u200d includes everyone in school activities because DEI&#8217;s guiding principles are rooted\u200b in the racially discriminatory worldview\u2062 known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">critical race theory<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The removal of diversity statements from job\u2064 applications is part\u2062 of a broader debate surrounding DEI and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/arizonas-public-universities-ditch-dei-hiring-statements-in-huge-free-speech-win\/\" title=\"Arizona's public universities drop DEI hiring statements, securing a significant victory for free speech.\">critical \u200crace \u200dtheory content<\/a> in university classes and K-12 public schools.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona\u2063 now joins several other states, including Texas, Florida, and Missouri, in scrapping diversity statement requirements for public university jobs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arizona&#8217;s public universities have eliminated the requirement for &#8220;diversity statements&#8221; on job applications, a victory for free speech advocates.
