While speaking at a meeting Monday, the chief justice of the Supreme Court of China asserted that the nation will \u201cseverely\u201d punish crimes undermining the state\u2019s power or provoking secession.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Justice Zhou Qiang added, they are taking these steps to defend the country\u2019s judicial sovereignty and national dignity. This comes as China\u2019s National\u2019s People\u2019s Congress meets to approve policies backed by the Communist Party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should severely crack down on the infiltration, sabotage, subversion and separatist activities of hostile forces at home and abroad,\u201d Qiang stated.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Chief Justice Zhou Qiang :<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must firmly resist the western idea of constitutional democracy, separation of powers and judicial independence.
