Version: 4.0.47--><h2>A Call \u200cfor Review: Endocrine Society&#8217;s Support for Transgender \u2062Medical Interventions<\/h2>\n<blockquote>\n<p>A \u200dmedical watchdog organization has\u2064 called on the Endocrine Society to perform \u200da \u201csystematic review\u201d of its support for \u200dmedical interventions \u200dthat seek to change the sex of minors, a letter obtained exclusively by The Daily Wire reveals.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/donoharmmedicine.org\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Do No Harm<\/a>, an organization \u2062that \u2063seeks to \u201cProtect\u200d healthcare from a radical, divisive, \u2063and discriminatory ideology,\u201d highlighted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/europe-pumps-brakes-transgender-care-minors-uproar-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">growing skepticism<\/a> of transgender medical interventions across Europe in\u2062 a letter to\u200c the\u2064 Endocrine \u2062Society. \u2062The organization has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.endocrine.org\/news-and-advocacy\/news-room\/2023\/ama-gender-affirming-care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">maintained<\/a> its\u200b support for what it \u200drefers to as \u201cgender-affirming care,\u201d which includes the\u200d use of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormone \u2062therapy, and surgical interventions like double \u200cmastectomies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are\u2062 confounded by the Society\u2019s avowed certainty of a \u2064favorable benefit-to-risk ratio when it comes \u2063to\u200c the medical gender transition of children,\u201d the July\u2062 24th \u2064letter from Do No\u2064 Harm\u200d reads.<\/p>\n<p>The letter, \u2063signed by\u200c Do No Harm\u2019s Chairman Stanley Goldfarb \u2064and Senior Fellow \u200bRoy Eappen, went on to state: \u201cThere\u200b is a steadily \u2063growing international \u200bconsensus \u2062that the approach\u200b endorsed by \u2062the Endocrine Society is misguided and potentially dangerous to children and \u200badolescents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It called \u200dfor the Endocrine Society to update\u200d its guidelines \u2062on \u200btransgender medical interventions in light of changing policies in the wider Western\u2062 world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo date \u2063and to our knowledge, the Endocrine Society\u200c has not publicly acknowledged the changes happening in Europe,\u201d the\u2064 letter adds. \u201cIf some \u200cof the\u2064 most \u200bsocially liberal countries in the world are wrong about the shaky empirical foundations of pediatric \u200bgender medicine, the \u2062Endocrine Society\u200d should \u2063say why.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c letter comes\u200c after Eappen\u2063 and Do No\u200d Harm Research Director Ian Kingsbury attended the\u2064 Endocrine Society\u2019s annual meeting and co-authored an \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/the-endocrine-societys-dangerous-politicization-endocrinologists-gender-affirming-care-arkansas-dac768bd?mod=article_inline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article<\/a> \u200cin \u200bthe Wall \u2063Street Journal\u200d which said many\u200d of the society\u2019s members were displeased with the organization\u2019s stance on\u2062 transgender medical interventions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe found \u2063that endocrinologists are aware of the society\u2019s failings and rue its elevation of transgender activism over medical\u200b expertise and patient needs,\u201d the \u200carticle reads. \u201cWithout exception, they acknowledged that the society\u2019s evidence base for pediatric gender transition is weak, at best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2064 went\u200b on to\u2063 claim\u200c that \u200c\u201cMedical professionals\u200b are \u200cbeing \u200ccowed\u200d into\u200b silence and coerced into\u200b providing treatments they know are dangerous to children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Endocrine Society President Stephen R. Hammes shot \u2063back\u2062 in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/trans-gender-affirming-care-endocrine-society-evidence-fdb8562c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a letter<\/a> also published in the Wall Street Journal. The \u2062brief piece claims that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-medical-watchdog-calls-for-endocrine-society-to-reconsider-support-of-trans-medicine-on-minors\/\" title=\"Medical watchdog urges Endocrine Society to reconsider support for trans medicine on minors.\">initial article \u201cignores\u200d scientific evidence<\/a> and\u200c the conclusions reached by the \u200dAmerican\u200d Medical Association, the American Academy \u2063of Pediatrics and other reputable medical organizations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p>While \u2062the Endocrine Society responded to the op-ed in the\u200d Wall\u2064 Street Journal, it \u200bhas not responded to the \u200bletter from Do No Harm.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2064Endocrine Society has received funding from at least one\u2064 business that profits from\u200b medical transitions. The organization received <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/health\/2022\/08\/05\/puberty-blocker-manufacturer-gave-nearly-100k-to-endocrine-society\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nearly\u2063 $100,000<\/a> from pharmaceutical company Abbvie from 2019 to 2021.\u2062 Abbvie creates Lupron Depot, a drug that has been used to <a href=\"https:\/\/classic.clinicaltrials.gov\/ct2\/show\/NCT00220350\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-trailer-released-for-matt-walshs-what-is-a-woman-documentary\/\" title=\"New Trailer Released for Matt Walsh\u2019s \u201cWhat Is a Woman\u201d Documentary\">chemically castrate sex offenders<\/a><\/a> \u200band\u200c is commonly used off-label\u2062 to\u200b block puberty \u2062in adolescents who \u200didentify \u200das transgender.<\/p>\n<p>Abbvie also produced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androderm.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Androderm<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pfizer-sponsored-group-pushing-child-transgenderism-profits-from-puberty-blockers-hormone-therapy\/\" title=\"Pfizer supports organization promoting child transgenderism, profits from puberty blockers and hormone therapy.\">trans-dermal testosterone patch<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/fenwayhealth.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/13e.-Gender-Affirming-Hormone-Therapy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">used<\/a> for cross-sex hormone therapy by women attempting \u200dto become \u200cmen that has since been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ashp.org\/drug-shortages\/current-shortages\/drug-shortage-detail.aspx?id=925&#038;loginreturnUrl=SSOCheckOnly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">discontinued<\/a> due to a supposed shortage.<\/p>\n<p>Although the \u2063Endocrine Society did not respond to the letter from Do No Harm\u2064 and has made no indication that \u200dit would reconsider its\u200b stance on \u200ctransgender medical\u2062 interventions, the\u200c American Academy of Pediatrics recently \u2063announced\u2062 that\u2063 it would be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/american-academy-of-pediatrics-announces-review-of-gender-affirming-care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">conducting\u2062 a review<\/a> of the\u2064 evidence surrounding \u201cgender-affirming care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Endocrine\u200d Society did not respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A medical watchdog group has urged the Endocrine Society to conduct a &#8220;systematic review&#8221; of its endorsement for medical interventions altering the gender of minors.
