This comes after the SEC claimed that the cryptocurrency\u2062 exchange failed to register\u200c with the agency. The filing in Seattle federal court on \u2062Thursday revealed \u200dthe details of the settlement.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>The SEC had\u2063 previously sued Bittrex Inc \u200dand its former CEO William Shihara, accusing them of operating an\u2064 unregistered national securities exchange, broker, and clearing agency. Additionally, \u200dthe\u2062 SEC\u200b claimed that Bittrex Global GmbH, the exchange&#8217;s foreign affiliate, failed to register as a national securities exchange.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the settlement, Bittrex Inc, Bittrex Global, and\u200d Shihara will pay a $5.6 million fine and hand\u2064 over $18.4 million in allegedly illicit profit \u2062within 60 \u200cdays after a liquidation plan \u2063is filed in \u2064the bankruptcy case. The\u200d settlement also includes an order barring the companies and Shihara from\u200d violating U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cruz-calls-for-scrutiny-of-platforms-that-halted-gamestop-trading\/\" title=\"Cruz Calls For Scrutiny of Platforms That Halted GameStop Trading\">securities laws<\/a>, although they did not admit to the SEC&#8217;s allegations.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Bittrex expressed their delight at \u200dreaching a settlement and mentioned that they would\u2063 provide more information once the court\u200d approves the resolution. It&#8217;s worth noting that Bittrex \u2064had\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bittrex-to-pay-24-million-to-settle-with-us-securities-regulator\/\" title=\"Bittrex to pay M in settlement with US securities regulator.\">previously denied trading securities<\/a> on its platform\u2063 and claimed to have no U.S.\u200c customers.<\/p>\n<p>The SEC&#8217;s lawsuit alleged that Shihara collaborated with crypto\u200d asset\u2063 issuers to remove public\u200c statements that could lead to regulatory investigations into those token\u2062 offerings as securities.
