Version: 4.0.47--><h2>Op-Ed: Don&#8217;t Be Surprised\u2062 if Some\u2064 Republicans Help Jack Smith Put Trump\u2063 in Prison<\/h2>\n<p>Many conservative patriots are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/op-ed-dont-be-surprised-if-some-republicans-help-jack-smith-put-trump-in-prison\/\" title=\"Op-Ed: GOP Support for Jack Smith's Efforts to Prosecute Trump Shouldn't Shock You\">gleeful\u2063 today based<\/a> on\u2064 their belief that Jack Smith\u2019s most \u2062recent indictment of President\u200d Donald Trump is going to afford the MAGA movement \u2063its first real opportunity to litigate all the irregularities of the 2020 election and the events\u200c of Jan. 6 in a court of law.<\/p>\n<p>This is the evidence they think will be needed for the president to rebut Smith\u2019s allegations that he is \u2062a fraudster \u2062because \u200dhe knew all the time\u2064 that the 2020 elections were legitimate.<\/p>\n<p>But, before Trump\u2019s supporters pop the proverbial champagne bottle to celebrate, they\u2063 probably would do \u2064well to consider the implications of the following language extracted directly from the \u2063first count of Smith\u2019s\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/storage\/US_v_Trump_23_cr_257.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">indictment<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cDonald J.\u2064 Trump did <em>knowingly<\/em> \u2026 conspire\u200b \u2026 and agree with co-conspirators \u2026 to defraud the United States by using\u200b dishonesty, fraud and deceit to impair, \u200bobstruct and defeat\u2063 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/6-ways-jack-smiths-latest-indictment-is-legally-flawed-and-politically-shady\/\" title=\"6 Problems with Jack Smith's Recent Indictment: Legal and Political Concerns\">lawful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cnn-insider-claims-former-network-president-ordered-staffers-to-dismiss-covid-lab-leak-theory-as-trump-talking-point\/\" title=\"CNN Insider Claims Former Network President Ordered Staffers To Dismiss COVID Lab Leak Theory As \u2018Trump Talking Point\u2019\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/better-than-expected-u-s-economy-added-638000-jobs-in-october-unemployment-dropped-to-6-9\/\" title=\"Better Than Expected: U.S. Economy Added 638,000 Jobs in October, Unemployment Dropped to 6.9%\">federal government<\/a> function<\/a><\/a> by which the results\u2064 of the presidential\u2063 election are collected, counted \u200cand certified by the federal government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe purpose\u200c of the conspiracy was to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 \u2063presidential\u200b election\u200c by \u200cusing <em>knowingly<\/em> false claims of\u2063 election fraud to obstruct\u2063 the federal government function \u200cby which those results are\u2064 collected, \u200ccounted and certified.\u201d (Emphasis added.)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Boiled down to the basics, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jack-smith-went-republican-case-got-overturned-scotus-unanimously\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Smith<\/a> has alleged that Trump <em>knew<\/em> his claims of election fraud were false and used them\u2064 to \u2063try to\u200b defraud the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Some have asked how Smith even hopes to carry his burden of having to \u2063prove such\u200b knowledge ever existed \u200cin the president\u2019s mind beyond a reasonable doubt.<\/p>\n<p>But the better\u200b question may\u200b be: Would Smith have used that specific language if he \u2064did not have the evidence he will need to establish that state of mind? Not\u2064 likely.<\/p>\n<p>More\u2063 likely is the probability that he is \u200bkeeping that evidence close to the \u200dvest \u200buntil he\u200c thinks the time \u200bis right\u200d for it to be revealed to the \u2064defendant\u2026 and to the world.<\/p>\n<p>To determine whether such evidence might actually \u2064exist, first consider whether it is possible that \u2062a Democrat might be\u200c willing to \u200dlie.<\/p>\n<p>No\u2062 doubt,\u200c the answer to \u2063that is yes.<\/p>\n<p>Which takes us to another\u2063 universal truth that frequently\u200c appears to be counted \u2063on by people \u2064like Smith: In this\u200c broken world, \u200dthat which is true\u2063 often does not prevail\u200d in either \u2062a court of law or in the court of public opinion.<\/p>\n<p>Which brings \u200cus to people like Bill Barr or\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/swamp-creature-pence-doubles-opposition-trump-crackpot-lawyers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mike Pence<\/a> \u2014 or, for that matter, anyone else\u200c who once held a high rank within Trump\u2019s administration and who has,\u200d since leaving office, revealed their\u200c contempt for their former boss \u2062in one way or another.<\/p>\n<p>First off, such disloyal former staffers are fully\u200c capable of creating out of thin air various lies about private conversations they can claim to have had with Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Next, imagine that,\u200b for any number of reasons, they could be \u2064made willing to tell\u2064 a jury that \u200cTrump not\u200b only admitted to them that he knew the \u200c2020\u200d election was entirely legitimate, but that he\u2063 also attempted\u2064 to persuade\u200b them to join forces with \u2062him to thwart the inauguration of President Joe Biden by falsely proclaiming\u200c otherwise to the public.<\/p>\n<p>By way of example, is it beyond anyone\u2019s imagination that Pence\u2062 could be deluded enough to think that if \u200bsuch\u2062 a\u2063 lie helps get Trump\u200d convicted, it \u2063just \u200bmight enhance his\u200b chances of overcoming his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/drop-pence-fire-4-words-said-tucker-become-center-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shameful interview<\/a> \u200dwith Tucker Carlson and going on to become\u200b our \u2062next president?<\/p>\n<p>As \u200cfor Barr,\u200c who knows?\u2062 Conceivably, he \u2063might think telling such a lie would be well worth it if it makes \u200dthe Bush \u200cfamily \u2064like\u2063 him more, \u200cgets him better pay for appearing as a contributor on\u2062 CNN and MSNBC \u2064or, if nothing else, helps him\u200b avoid having to fulfill his promise to the American people that he \u2062will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-12353759\/Bill-Barr-says-hell-jump-BRIDGE-Donald-Trump-wins-GOP-2024-nomination.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">jump off a bridge<\/a> if Trump is\u2063 elected.<\/p>\n<p>And as for Smith, is there any doubt he would \u200bjump at \u2064the chance to get \u2064such \u2064lies before a jury? Indeed, he \u2062would likely be ecstatic. At a\u2062 minimum, such lies from the witness stand would enable him \u2063to satisfy his burden \u200cof proof as to Trump\u2019s\u2063 criminal\u200d state of mind.<\/p>\n<p>They would also\u2062 very likely enable a \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/judge-overseeing-trump-case-already-issued-ruling-matters-not-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">friendly \u2062judge<\/a> to rule that such \u2063\u201ccredible\u201d firsthand accounts of Trump\u2019s crooked\u2063 state of mind \u2014 especially from such \u201cesteemed\u201d former members of the president\u2019s\u200c own staff \u2014 must, for purposes \u200bof judicial economy, negate any\u200c need for the\u200d court to allow Trump\u2019s attorneys\u2063 to try to litigate the legitimacy of the\u200c 2020 election outcome.<\/p>\n<p>If this scenario plays out, not \u2062only can MAGA conservatives \u2063say\u200c goodbye to any hope of getting to revisit the integrity of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fried-jack-smith-ignore-damning-facts-undermine-trump-indictment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2020 election<\/a>.
