pleaded not \u200cguilty on Thursday to \u2064several felony charges over their alleged role \u200cin a scheme to overturn the 2020 presidential election results, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-york-sues-amazon-over-alleged-worker-exploitation-amid-pandemic\/\" title=\"New York Sues Amazon Over Alleged Worker \u2018Exploitation\u2019 Amid Pandemic\">state attorney general\u2019<\/a>s\u2063 office announced.<\/p>\n<p>Nine of the defendants were arraigned \u2062on \u2064state charges during a\u2063 virtual court hearing in\u2064 Lansing, while the other seven pleaded not guilty in recent weeks, according to reports.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Each \u2062was\u200b given a personal \u2064recognizance bond which \u2062stipulates defendants must not travel out of state without permission of the Court, must not possess or purchase firearms, ammunition, or dangerous weapons,\u200b must not\u200b commit any illegal acts, and\u200b must not miss any court dates at the \u200brisk of jeopardizing their bond,&#8221; Michigan Attorney\u200d General Dana Nessel\u2019s office said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/ag\/news\/press-releases\/2023\/08\/10\/all-16-arraignments-held-in-false-elector-prosecution-future-court-dates-set\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news\u2064 release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Nessel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/16-pro-trump-false-electors-charged-with-felonies-in-michigan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> felony charges against the defendants in July for allegedly signing \u200dtheir names to multiple official documents in \u200cthe \u2064basement of the Michigan GOP headquarters \u200con December 14, 2020, that claimed that\u200d Donald \u200dTrump won Michigan\u2019s Presidential election in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The attorney general said the defendants then transmitted the documents to the U.S Senate and National Archives \u200bin an \u2062alleged coordinated effort to award Michigan\u2019s electoral votes &#8220;to the \u2062candidate of\u200b their choosing, in place of the candidates actually\u200b elected by the\u2062 people of \u200dMichigan.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/grassroots-conservatives-party-leadership-defend-indicted-michigan-gop-electors\/\" title=\"Michigan GOP electors indicted, defended by grassroots conservatives and party leadership.\">false electors\u2019 actions undermined<\/a> the public\u2019s\u200d faith in the integrity of our elections and, we believe, also \u200cplainly violated the laws\u2063 by which we administer our elections in Michigan,&#8221;\u2062 Nessel said in a news release last month.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My department has\u200d prosecuted numerous cases of election\u2063 law violations throughout my\u2063 tenure, and it would be malfeasance of the greatest magnitude if my department failed to act\u200d here in the face of overwhelming evidence of an organized effort \u200cto circumvent the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/16-pro-trump-false-electors-charged-with-felonies-in-michigan\/\" title=\"16 individuals who falsely claimed to be electors for Donald Trump have been charged with felonies in Michigan.\">lawfully \u200ccast ballots<\/a> of millions of\u2062 Michigan voters in\u200b a presidential election,&#8221; she\u2063 added.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE APP<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nessel charged each defendant with \u200beight criminal counts, including conspiracy to commit forgery, conspiracy to commit uttering and publishing, and election law forgery.<\/p>\n<p>CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/08\/10\/politics\/michigan-fake-elector-arraignments\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> the defendants include Republican \u200dNational Committee\u2019s\u2064 Kathy Berden, current Michigan GOP\u200b vice chair Marian Sheridan, and former Michigan GOP co-chair \u2062Meshawn Maddock.<\/p>\n<p>Other defendants include Mayor Kent Vanderwood of the City of Wyoming, Michigan, Shelby Township clerk Stanley Grot, Grand Blanc school board member Amy Facchinello, and local GOP officials \u200dRose Rook and Mari-Ann Henry. Also named in\u200d the case are pro-Trump lawsuit plaintiffs John Haggard and Timothy King; \u2063former GOP candidates\u2064 Clifford Frost and Michele Lundgren; and Hank Choate, James Renner, Mayra\u200c Rodriguez, and Ken Thompson.<\/p>\n<p>Haggard\u2019s \u2063attorney Kurt Krause reportedly said \u2063the probability of conviction for his client was low because of &#8220;the dubiousness of the factual basis asserted by the government.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He is eager and looks forward to fighting these charges,&#8221; Krause said, according to\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detroitnews.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2023\/08\/10\/9-michigan-false-electors-arraigned-not-guilty-pleas-entered\/70565472007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Detroit News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All defendants \u2062are set to appear \u2062in \u2063court for a probable cause\u2064 conference on August 18.<\/p>\n<p>The case was named in special counsel Jack Smith\u2019s recent indictment against\u2062 former President Donald Trump, who alleged that Trump\u2019s team wanted \u2063to &#8220;subvert the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/twitter-deletes-president-trumps-tweets-threatens-permanent-suspension\/\" title=\"Twitter deletes President Trump\u2019s tweets, threatens permanent suspension\">legitimate election results<\/a> and change electoral votes&#8221; with the so-called scheme on January 6, 2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All 16 Republican defendants in the Michigan &#8220;false elector prosecution&#8221; pleaded not guilty to felony charges.
