Nine months \u2063later, however, \u2062Republicans in charge of\u2062 investigating\u2064 the committee\u2019s work say the probe \u200bfailed \u200dto comply with House rules.<\/p>\n<p>GOP \u200bGeorgia Rep. Barry Loudermilk, who became the target of\u2064 the since-disbanded committee\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/politics\/watch-jan-6-panel-releases-video-of-rep-loudermilk-leading-a-capitol-tour-day-before-attack\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">salacious \u200dattacks<\/a> last summer, is leading the Republican probe\u2064 into the Jan. 6 Committee as\u200c chairman of the Subcommittee \u200con Oversight for the Committee on House Administration. Loudermilk <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/j6-committee-failed-to-preserve-records-has-no-data-on-capitol-hill-security-failures-gop-charges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> Fox News on \u2063Tuesday his team\u200b has struggled to locate\u2064 the \u2062leftover material required to review the Select Committee\u2019s work under Chairman Rep. Bennie \u2063Thompson, D-Miss.\u2063 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-investigating-j6-committee-suggest-dems-destroyed-evidence-in-apparent-cover-up\/\" title=\"GOP J6 Committee suspects Dems concealed evidence in alleged cover-up.\">partisan \u2063probe \u2064spent 18 months prosecuting political opponents<\/a> and was complete with <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/10\/the-j6-inquisition-is-an-obvious-soviet-style-show-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Soviet-style show trials<\/a> presented with <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/12\/21\/jan-6-committee-cooks-up-another-misleading-text-to-demonize-gop-colleagues\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fabricated evidence<\/a> while lawmakers sought\u2063 to portray\u2062 the\u200b Capitol riot as a \u201cdeadly\u200b insurrection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing was \u2064indexed. \u2064There was no table of contents \u200cindex. \u200cUsually when \u200cyou conduct \u2064this level of investigation, \u2063you use a database system and everything is digitized, \u200cindexed. We got \u2062nothing like\u200d that,\u201d \u2063Loudermilk \u200bsaid.\u2063 \u201cSo it took us a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-knows-he-messed-up-on-fracking-at-debate-and-is-now-doing-damage-control-the-daily-wire\/\" title=\"Joe Biden Knows He Messed Up On Fracking At Debate And Is Now Doing Damage Control | The Daily Wire\">long time<\/a> going through it and one\u2062 thing I started realizing \u2062is\u200b we don\u2019t have\u200b anything much \u2062at all from the Blue Team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cBlue \u200bTeam\u201d refers to the investigative staff \u2063on the committee in charge of probing the Capitol security failures, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/12\/21\/house-republicans-expose-pelosis-culpability-in-jan-6-riot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">all of which<\/a> point to\u2062 former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. After then-Fox News prime-time host Tucker Carlson <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/13\/everything-you-need-to-know-about-tucker-carlsons-j6-tapes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">aired<\/a> footage undermining\u200c central narratives of the Jan. 6 Committee in March, Chairman Thompson <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/09\/top-democrat-on-j6-committee-we-actually-didnt-review-any-of-the-surveillance-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admitted<\/a> the Select Committee didn\u2019t actually review Capitol surveillance video.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[READ:[READ:<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/13\/everything-you-need-to-know-about-tucker-carlsons-j6-tapes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Everything You Need To Know\u200d About\u200d Tucker Carlson\u2019s\u2062 J6 Tapes<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got \u200clots of depositions, \u2063we\u2019ve got lots of subpoenas, we\u2019ve got video and other documents provided through subpoenas by individuals,\u201d Loudermilk told Fox. \u201cBut we\u2019re not seeing anything from the Blue Team as\u200d far as reports on the\u2064 investigation\u2062 they \u200ddid looking into the actual breach itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we\u200b also\u200c realized\u2063 we didn\u2019t have \u200cwas the\u200b videos of all the depositions,\u201d said the congressman.<\/p>\n<p>Fox News reported on\u2062 a \u2062series of\u2064 exchanges between Thompson and Loudermilk, the latter of whom was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/politics\/watch-jan-6-panel-releases-video-of-rep-loudermilk-leading-a-capitol-tour-day-before-attack\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">defamed<\/a> by the committee as giving \u201creconnaissance\u201d tours of\u2063 the Capitol on the eve of the riot. The Jan.\u200c 6\u2063 tapes aired by Carlson, however, show the \u200cGeorgia Republican was giving \u2062a routine tour of the \u2064complex to constituents.<\/p>\n<p>Loudermilk told Fox News his committee was only given \u200c2.5 terabytes of data, \u2063contrary to Thompson\u2019s initial claim the Select Committee handed \u200cover 4. A letter \u200dfrom the former chairman of the Democrats\u2019 probe \u2063this summer conceded the Select Committee \u200cfailed\u2063 to maintain records that the probe was required to preserve.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsistent with guidance \u200bfrom\u2063 the Office of the\u2062 Clerk and other authorities, the Select Committee did not \u2062archive\u2064 temporary committee records that\u2063 were not elevated by the Committee\u2019s actions,\u200b such as use\u200b in hearings or\u200b official \u200cpublications, or those that did not further \u200cits investigative activities,\u201d Thompson wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s\u2063 saying they decided\u2063 they \u2062didn\u2019t have to,\u201d Loudermilk told Fox News. \u201cThe more we go in the more we\u2019re realizing that there\u2019s things that\u2062 we don\u2019t have. We don\u2019t \u200bhave anything about security failures\u2062 at the\u200b Capitol,\u2063 we don\u2019t have the \u200dvideos of the depositions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy sent the letter demanding\u200c records preservation after\u2062 reporting from The \u200dWashington \u200cPost raised concerns \u200dthat the \u2062Select Committee was prepared \u200cto \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/two-years-in-black-lives-matter-has-prompted-more-americans-to-reject-white-guilt\/\" title=\"Two Years In, Black Lives Matter Has Prompted More Americans To Reject White Guilt\">omit key details<\/a> of \u200dthe investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt \u200dis imperative that\u2063 all information collected be preserved not just for institutional prerogatives but for transparency to the American people,\u201d\u200d McCarthy wrote\u200c last fall.\u200c \u201cThe American people have a right to\u2062 know that \u2063the allegations you have made are\u200c supported by the \u2062facts and to be \u2064able to view the transcripts\u2062 with an eye towards encouraged enforcement of 18 USC \u20631001.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>California Republican Congressman Darrell Issa <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/video\/6332756169112\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">threatened<\/a> \u2063 members\u2063 who served on the Jan. 6 Committee\u200b with censure over the destruction of \u200brecords.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ones that \u200bare still in\u2063 Congress might very well face a \u200bcensure \u2064for what they\u200d participated in,\u201d Issa said.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Tristan Justice is the western correspondent for The Federalist and the author of Social Justice Redux, \u2064a conservative newsletter on culture, health, and wellness.
