The request came only two days after it\u200d was \u200cannounced that he would be replaced in the next two races due to his suspension.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the team announced that Mike Rockenfeller would drive the No.\u2062 42 car at Indianapolis on Sunday and at Watkins\u200c Glen on Aug 20<sup>th<\/sup>. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cI \u2063have asked LEGACY\u2062 MOTOR \u200dCLUB to release me from my contract \u200cso that I can take \u200btime to\u2064 work through \u2064the NASCAR reinstatement\u2063 process,\u201d Gragson said. \u201cI\u200b love racing, and I am looking forward to a \u2063second chance \u200dto\u200c compete for wins at the \u200bhighest level of NASCAR \u200b\u2013 and most importantly, make my family, my\u200d team and\u2062 the fans proud of me once\u2063 again.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Last weekend, Gragson \u200cwas suspended\u2064 when it was discovered that he \u201cliked\u201d a meme of George Floyd. Screenshots were \u200calso\u200d circulating on social media. \u2063 <\/p>\n<p>In a response, the Legacy Motor Club\u200c stated that the driver\u2019s actions did not \u201crepresent the values of [their] team.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Before\u2063 he was officially suspended for his\u200b \u201clack of\u2062 attention and actions on\u200d social media\u201d, the racer issued an apology and\u2064 said that &#8220;[he tries] \u200d to treat everyone equally no matter who they are \u2062 [and that he] messed up \u200cplain and simple.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The \u200b25-year-old spent four\u200d complete \u2064seasons in \u200cthe\u200d Xfinity Series prior to his \u2062debut year at\u200b Legacy Motor Club and his first full \u2063Cup\u200b Series \u2064season.  <\/p>\n<p>The suspension \u2062had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nascar-driver-released-from-contract-after-suspension-for-liking-george-floyd-meme\/\" title=\"NASCAR driver fired for endorsing George Floyd meme.\">social \u200cmedia users arguing<\/a> \u2063if the repercussions were fair. <\/p>\n<p>One user from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-new-acting-attorney-general-jeff-rosen-recently-wrote-an-essay-on-foreign-influence-in-us-elections-this-tells-us-a-little-about-his-knowledge-of-whats-going-on-today\/\" title=\"The New Acting Attorney General Jeff Rosen Recently Wrote an Essay on Foreign Influence in US Elections \u2013 This Tells Us A Little About His Knowledge of What\u2019s Going On Today\">social media platform<\/a> X, formerly known as Twitter, \u2063defended the \u2063suspension of Gragson,\u200c saying &#8220;People saying &#8216;boycott \u200dNASCAR&#8217; \u200das if they watched to begin with.
