In a case before the Badger State\u2019s highest \u2062court last year, the then-Republican majority <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/08\/wisconsin-supreme-court-drops-hammer-on-2020-election-shenanigans-ballot-drop-boxes-are-illegal-under-wisconsin-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ruled<\/a> \u2063the Wisconsin Elections \u200bCommission\u2019s authorization of drop boxes in the 2020 election violated state law and that the devices could not be used for future contests.<\/p>\n<p>In \u200dtheir July lawsuit \u2014 which was filed weeks before\u2062 Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/politics\/wisconsins-high-court-which-almost-overturned-bidens-win-in-the-state-flips-to-liberal-control\/ar-AA1eDxeH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">took control<\/a> of the Wisconsin Supreme Court \u2014 the\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republican-groups-intervene-to-stop-democrats-lawfare-against-wisconsin-elections\/\" title=\"GOP Groups Step In to Halt Dems' Legal Attacks on Wisconsin Elections\">aforementioned left-wing groups opined<\/a> that the court\u2019s previous ruling should be overturned, baselessly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.democracydocket.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/2023-07-20-complaint.pdf\">claiming<\/a> the \u2062prohibition on ballot\u2064 drop boxes\u2064 \u201cseverely burdens \u200bthe right to vote.\u201d The suit additionally \u201cseeks to undo\u200d a\u200c requirement\u200d that a witness sign\u2063 absentee ballots and that any problems with absentee\u200c ballots be corrected by the voter no\u2062 later than 8 p.m. on Election Day,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/democrats-sue-reinstate-absentee-drop-boxes-wisconsin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fox \u200cNews<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In their <a href=\"https:\/\/prod-media-assets.protectthevote.com\/media\/document\/news\/23.08.08_Priorities_Brief_ISO_motion_to_intervene_v.5_jvdgh4w7.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">motion<\/a> filed on Tuesday, the RNC and affiliated groups argued they have \u201cinterests in \u200cthe \u200brules\u200d and procedures governing Wisconsin\u2019s elections\u201d\u200b and requested the state\u2019s highest court \u201callow them to intervene in this case so they may protect those interests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The leftist groups who filed the lawsuit last month \u201cdemand that \u200bthis Court \u2064nullify these election safeguards that Wisconsin has effectively employed [and] claim these requirements unconstitutionally burden the\u2064 right to vote. They are wrong,\u201d the \u2064RNC\u2019s motion reads. \u201cMovants seek to \u2063intervene to defend the constitutionality of the\u2063 Commission\u2019s election guidance.
