Supported by the Honest Elections Project (HEP), these letters address concerns that certain localities in both states are violating\u200b provisions of the \u200cNational Voter Registration Act (NVRA).<\/p>\n<p>The NVRA, passed in 1993, requires states to make a reasonable effort to remove \u2064the\u2063 names\u2064 of ineligible voters, such as those\u2063 who have passed away or \u2064moved, from their\u2063 voter \u2063rolls.<\/p>\n<h3>Concerns in Arizona<\/h3>\n<p>In Arizona, the signatories of the letter claim that a comparison between the U.S. Census Bureau&#8217;s\u2062 2017-2021 American Community Survey and publicly available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-arizona-virginia-voters-demand-election-officials-correct-their-states-erroneous-voter-rolls\/\" title=\"Arizona and Virginia voters demand officials fix inaccurate voter rolls.\">voter roll data reveals troubling discrepancies<\/a>. They\u200c allege\u200c that at \u2063least four counties have more registered voters than adult\u2063 citizens over the age of 18, and nine counties have voter registration\u200c rates exceeding 90% \u2063of adult\u2063 citizens over 18. These figures far surpass the national voter registration \u200drate in recent elections. The letter also highlights one county with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lawsuit-forces-los-angeles-county-to-remove-1-2-million-ineligible-voters-from-rolls\/\" title=\"Lawsuit Forces Los Angeles County To Remove 1.2 Million Ineligible Voters From Rolls\">voter registration rate<\/a> \u2064over \u206280%.<\/p>\n<p>The letter states, &#8220;In other words, there are more registered\u200b voters than\u200d eligible voters&#8221; in Apache, La Paz, \u200bNavajo, and Santa Cruz Counties, where voter registration rates exceed 100%.<\/p>\n<p>According to the\u2064 U.S. Census\u2064 Bureau, 72.7% of the \u2064country&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/its-always-about-the-long-game-conservative-group-tries-to-avoid-re-hashing-2020-while-training-activists-to-change-election-process\/\" title=\"\u2018It\u2019s Always About The Long Game\u2019: Conservative Group Tries To Avoid Re-Hashing 2020 While Training Activists To Change Election Process\">citizen voting-age population<\/a> was registered to vote during the 2020 election. The abnormally high registration rates in counties like Cochise and Maricopa, which exceed 90%, raise\u2062 concerns about the \u200cproper maintenance of Arizona&#8217;s voter \u2064rolls.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200bsignatories allege that 14 out of Arizona&#8217;s 15 counties have \u2064inflated voter rolls.<\/p>\n<h3>Concerns in Virginia<\/h3>\n<p>In Virginia, several \u2063voters are making similar claims of inaccurate voter rolls. Using the same methodology\u200b as the Arizona letter, these citizens assert that 101 localities in Virginia have erroneous voter rolls. They\u200c claim that 43 counties and cities have more registered voters\u200b than adult citizens over 18, and 58 have voter registration rates exceeding 90% of adult\u200c citizens over 18.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, the Virginia Department of Elections discovered nearly 19,000 deceased voters on \u200dthe state&#8217;s voter rolls. This finding prompted Virginia Commissioner of Elections Susan Beals \u200bto announce \u2063the state&#8217;s withdrawal from the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC), a voter roll maintenance group that has been\u200d accused \u200bof \u2063inflating \u2063voter rolls.<\/p>\n<p>HEP Executive \u200bDirector Jason Snead\u2063 emphasized the importance of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-plans-to-cut-100000-names-off-state-voter-rolls-in-major-list-maintenance-effort\/\" title=\"Georgia Plans To Cut 100,000 Names Off State Voter Rolls In \u2018Major List Maintenance Effort\u2019\">maintaining accurate voter rolls<\/a>, stating, &#8220;Failing to maintain\u2064 the voter rolls puts public confidence in the \u200celection process at risk and creates \u2063an\u200d unnecessary potential for fraud.
