Ron DeSantis the\u2063 question\u2064 in Iowa <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/08\/07\/us\/politics\/desantis-trump-2020-election.html\">last \u2064week<\/a>. NBC News \u200bcorrespondent Dasha\u2062 Burns asked a variant of the\u2064 question, to which \u200bDeSantis \u2063gave\u2062 an \u200dextended reply \u200cabout the proper and improper way to \u200brun elections. Completely uninterested in his \u2063substantive reply, she followed it up with:\u2064 &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/08\/does-desantis-know-what-time-it-is-didnt-sound-like-it-in-that-nbc-interview\/\">Yes or no, \u2062did Trump\u200b lose\u2062 the 2020 election<\/a>?&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The question is never asked in good faith, and\u200d you can know that with \u2064certainty because none of these reporters even \u2063came close to asking it from 2016-2020 \u2064when \u200cthe entirety of the Democrat \u200cParty refused\u200b to accept the legitimacy of Donald Trump\u2019s election.\u2064 In fact,\u2063 they eagerly and actively participated in \u2063the Russia-collusion information operation designed to overturn \u200bthe results of that election. Hillary Clinton was \u200dclaiming the \u20642016 election was stolen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/opinion\/2020-election-investigated-discussed-mollie-hemingway\">throughout 2019<\/a>, \u200band the media generally cheered\u200d her on.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>The Controversial 1972 Olympic Basketball Game<\/h3>\n<p>But if \u200dyou need help understanding why the question is never asked \u200din\u2062 good faith, let\u2019s step out of the realm of politics for \u2063a\u200d minute and consider the\u200c men\u2019s gold medal basketball game of \u2064the \u20621972\u2063 Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>The game is one of\u200d the most controversial events in \u200bOlympic history, with the American men\u2019s team refusing to concede they\u200b lost to the\u200d Soviet Union.\u200d In fact, it\u2019s been more than 50\u200c years and the men \u2063on that team have never accepted their silver\u2064 medals because they\u200d still do not believe\u200d the game was conducted in a fair fashion. Just \u200clast \u2063year, the men wanted to\u2064 have the\u2062 silver \u200cmedals donated to\u2062 the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame,\u200b but the International Olympic Committee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/olympics\/news\/1972-olympic-basketball-final-ussr-usa-soviet-union-medals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">demanded the men officially accept them first<\/a> before they could\u200b be donated. On principle,\u200d the men will not take the medals \u200cor recognize the legitimacy \u200dof the outcome,\u2064 so the\u2062 medals remain in limbo.<\/p>\n<p>The team, which is the only team in Olympic\u2062 history \u200bto contest \u200can outcome, has an excellent\u2064 case \u200cthat the game was rigged. The Americans had dominated the Olympic sport\u2063 since it first appeared in the 1936 \u2062Olympics. They had won seven gold \u2063medals and were \u2064the presumptive favorites in 1972.\u2064 Their \u200drecord\u200d before the final game was an astounding 63-0.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>However, the Soviets\u2063 were very good that year and their older and experienced team was winning the game until the final seconds, when the U.S. player \u200bDoug Collins was fouled and sank two free throws, putting the team ahead by \u200cone point with one second left \u2064on the\u200c clock.<\/p>\n<p>An official demanded that an additional two seconds be put back on the clock. When that time expired, \u2064the\u2063 U.S. team\u2063 began to celebrate and their fans swarmed onto the court.\u2064 But officials said the\u2062 clock reset had \u2064not been done \u200dproperly so they put three seconds back \u200con the clock and gave the Soviets another chance. The Soviet team also managed to make an illegal substitution\u200c of a player who, with the\u2063 help of a Soviet Bloc referee interfering in the play, passed to another \u2064player who scored\u2062 the winning point.<\/p>\n<p>The Americans were outraged at how \u200dthe\u200d game was conducted and \u200cappealed to a basketball court \u200bmade up of five judges. However, they lost that \u200dappeal 3-2. It \u2063is perhaps worth\u200d noting that all three judges who \u200dvoted against the Americans happened to be \u200cfrom communist countries.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Soviet \u200cUnion men,\u200d for\u200d their part, are absolutely defiant that they\u200b won \u2063a free and fair game. Just a few years ago, Russians put out a very popular \u200bmovie called &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2018\/jan\/18\/going-vertical-film-about-us-v-ussr-olympic-basketball-final-breaks-russian-record\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Going\u200c Vertical<\/a>&#8221; \u2014 also known as &#8220;Three Seconds&#8221;\u200d \u2014 \u2062about their surprise victory over the Americans. \u200bIt became\u2063 &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/general-news\/international-box-office-surprises-2018-1170734\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the\u2063 most-successful Russian film of all time<\/a>,&#8221; according to\u2063 the \u200dHollywood Reporter.<\/p>\n<h3>Double Standards in Media Coverage<\/h3>\n<p>When the American press covers the Olympics issue \u2014 including a raft of \u2062coverage last year on the 50th\u2062 anniversary of the game \u2014 they never hector the players\u2063 to concede that they lost. They do\u2063 not refer to\u2064 them\u2064 as &#8220;Olympics deniers.&#8221; Heck, the Olympics.com news site \u200ditself has\u200b a story headlined, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/olympics.com\/en\/news\/americans-refuse-silver-as-ussr-steal-controversial-basketball-final\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Americans refuse silver as USSR steal controversial basketball final<\/a>.&#8221; The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/sports\/olympics\/2022\/09\/08\/us-ussr-basketball-1972-munich-olympics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">covered the dispute generously<\/a>. So did <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/olympics\/news\/1972-olympic-basketball-final-ussr-usa-soviet-union-medals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NBC<\/a>. In 2012, \u200dThe New York Times favorably reviewed \u2062a \u2064book that alleged <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2012\/07\/29\/sports\/olympics\/three-seconds-of-the-munich-olympics-that-never-seem-to-run-out.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the game was stolen<\/a> by the \u200dSoviets. When power forward Dwight\u200b Jones died in\u200c 2016, The New \u2064York Times gave\u200c him an obituary that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/07\/29\/sports\/basketball\/dwight-jones-us-olympian-dies.html?_r=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">featured the disputed game<\/a>. ESPN has\u200c <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rorykarpf.com\/rorydirector\/folio\/silver.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filmed round \u2062table discussions<\/a> about the unfair loss. Just last year,\u2062 The New York Times supported \u200dthe\u200c effort to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/09\/09\/sports\/olympics\/usa-soviet-union-olympics-basketball.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">have the outcome of the game\u200d overturned<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Can you imagine if reporters cornered the players or their fans and said, &#8220;Yes or\u2062 no, did you \u200blose the 1972 game?&#8221; Can you imagine\u200b if they badgered each \u2062player \u200bto utter an \u2062affirmation that \u200bthe Soviets won fair and \u2063square or be \u200bcalled &#8220;basketball \u2063deniers&#8221;? Can you\u200c imagine how juvenile\u200b and idiotic that would sound? Real journalists wouldn\u2019t do\u2064 any of\u200c these things, \u200dparticularly if they genuinely wanted to understand or accurately\u2063 convey \u200dwhy the game was so \u2063controversial.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, there is something downright pathological in the media \u200cand other Democrat activists\u2019 attempts to \u2062silence\u2063 any and all genuine \u200bdiscussion \u200babout \u200dthe weirdest election of our lifetimes. I researched and reported a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Rigged-Media-Democrats-Seized-Elections\/dp\/168451259X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/whats-michael-knowles-reading-these-days\/\" title=\"What\u2019s Michael Knowles Reading These Days?\">full-length book<\/a><\/a> \u200c about \u200dall of\u2064 the verifiable problems with the\u200d election. These problems include \u2064the effort by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2021\/10\/15\/hemingway_marc_elias_pushed_the_russian_collusion_lie_in_201617_and_mail-in_ballots_scheme_in_2020.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">same top Democrat lawyer<\/a> who ran the Russia-collusion hoax to \u2062push for the coordinated change of \u200dhundreds of election laws and processes, supposedly due to Covid. \u200cThe vast majority of\u200c the significant changes were done\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/constitution.congress.gov\/browse\/essay\/artI-S4-C1-2\/ALDE_00013577\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in violation\u2062 of the Constitution\u2019s\u2062 requirement<\/a> that state legislatures handle such rules. The changes led to \u2064tens of millions \u200bof\u2064 unsupervised ballots \u200cflooding into the\u200c system \u200dat the same time \u200dthat scrutiny of said ballots \u200cwas diminished. Mark\u2063 Zuckerberg, one of the world\u2019s wealthiest and \u200bmost\u2064 powerful men, spent more than $400\u200c million to orchestrate the\u200d takeover of government election offices by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kamala-harris-condemns-d-c-demonstrators-despite-past-encouragement-of-violent-blm-mobs\/\" title=\"Kamala Harris condemns D.C. demonstrators despite past encouragement of violent BLM mobs\">left-wing activists<\/a>. This \u200bget-out-the-vote effort was <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/10\/12\/the-2020-election-wasnt-stolen-it-was-bought-by-mark-zuckerberg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">overwhelmingly focused on the Democrat areas<\/a> \u2064of \u200dswing states.<\/p>\n<p>There is \u200dalso the\u200b issue\u2062 that corporate media\u200d moved from\u200c pervasive bias into\u200d overt propaganda on behalf of \u200cDemocrats and against Republicans. They invented fake news that was \u2062inserted into national debates, such \u2064as <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/27\/corporate-media-dont-care-how-much-money-they-lose-so-long-as-they-control-the-narrative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the false Aisne-Marne story<\/a> claiming Trump secretly didn\u2019t like American soldiers and the false claim that Russia was paying bounties for dead American\u200c soldiers and that <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/04\/16\/liz-cheney-was-a-primary-culprit-of-spreading-fake-news-on-russian-bounties-to-undermine-trump\/\">Trump didn\u2019t care<\/a>. They also \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/10\/22\/heres-everything-you-need-to-know-about-joe-bidens-latest-scandals\/\">suppressed completely true stories<\/a> \u2062about the Biden \u2063family \u200bbusiness of paying for access to\u2062 Joe Biden. In \u2063fact,\u2064 a cabal of powerful figures conspired to falsely blame as Russian disinformation a laptop\u2063 belonging to \u200da key member of\u200c the \u200cBiden family pay-for-play business.<\/p>\n<p>And that doesn\u2019t\u2064 even\u200d mention the fact that the U.S. government \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/30\/zuckerbergs-admission-of-fbi-meddling-in-2020-election-is-even-bigger-than-it-seems\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">conspired \u2063with Big Tech companies<\/a> to\u2064 run a massive\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-trump-derangement-gave-birth-to-the-censorship-industrial-complex\/\" title=\"How Trump Derangement Gave Birth To The\u00a0Censorship-Industrial\u00a0Complex\">censorship-industrial complex<\/a> to suppress news and information advantageous to conservative politicians and issues. This censorship-industrial complex also worked \u200band continues to\u200b work to elevate left-wing \u200bmedia with a\u2063 track \u200brecord of \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-won-in-2020-the-same-way-soviet-basketball-won-gold-in-1972\/\" title=\"Biden's 2020 victory, like Soviet basketball's 1972 gold, was triumphant.\">running false information operations<\/a>,\u200d such as the\u2062 debunked Russia-collusion hoax \u200dand \u2064the\u2063 Kavanaugh rape smear.<\/p>\n<p>But let\u2019s \u200dget back to the basketball \u2062game.<\/p>\n<p>Did the \u200bmen\u2019s \u2064basketball team of the Soviet\u200d Union score more points than the\u200c United States\u200c in \u20631972?\u2062 They\u2062 did.\u2062 Did\u2063 they\u2062 receive \u2062the gold medal? They did. Did Joe Biden receive more Electoral College votes than Donald\u2062 Trump? He did. \u2063Was he inaugurated as the 45th president of the United States? He was.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>All of those\u200b things are true. It is also \u2063true that reasonable\u2063 people on the losing side of both contests believe \u2014 \u2064for very good \u2063reasons \u2014 they were not fair. It is sheer \u200dgaslighting to use the immense power\u200d of the \u2062Democrat \u200cmedia and corrupted\u200b Department of Justice to say that people are\u200d not allowed\u200c to oppose the way election contests were conducted\u200c or\u2064 discuss how the manner\u2063 in\u200c which the contests have been conducted \u2062affected the outcome.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Fans of the\u2062 1972 Soviet men\u2019s basketball team and \u2063the 2020 Joe Biden campaign have every \u200bright to say they won a free\u2064 and fair contest. They should not be jailed \u2062or \u2064persecuted\u2064 for that view.
