This revelation \u200draises concerns about inconsistencies\u2062 in Wray&#8217;s previous testimony before the committee.<\/p>\n<p>The letter cites an FBI \u2062document dated January 23, 2023, titled &#8220;Interest \u200dof Racially \u2062or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists in Radical-Traditionalist Catholic Ideology Almost Certainly Presents New Mitigation Opportunities.&#8221; This document, which can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/republicans-judiciary.house.gov\/files\/evo-media-document\/fbi-anti-catholic-memo.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>, further \u2063supports the\u200c committee&#8217;s claims.<\/p>\n<p>After threats of\u200d contempt proceedings, the FBI provided \u2064a less redacted version of the document, now referred to as &#8220;the Richmond document.&#8221; This version clearly shows that the \u2063FBI&#8217;s actions were not limited to a \u2063single field office, as Wray had previously testified.<\/p>\n<p>The letter concludes by demanding additional FBI documents and communications related\u2063 to the case, to be provided\u200b to the committee by\u2064 August 25.<\/p>\n<p>In a critical opinion piece, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/the-fbi-and-radical-catholics-a2021275\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wall Street Journal<\/a> expressed its disapproval of the FBI&#8217;s \u2062actions. The editorial board accused\u200d the FBI of relying on unreliable sources to justify their \u2064investigation into traditional Catholics.
