But the charges against him are unsurprising \u2014 given\u200b that his\u200c presidency began with the FBI <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/crossfire-hurricane-lawyer-gets-slap-wrist-doctoring-evidence-obtain-fisa-warrant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spying on his campaign<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Allegations his campaign colluded with\u2064 Russia to rig \u200dthe 2016 election were unsubstantiated, but the probe set the tone for his current legal persecution.<\/p>\n<h3>How Trump Found Himself A Target Of Government Weaponization<\/h3>\n<p>Throughout\u200c the last seven years, \u200bTrump has been\u200b the target of the \u200cDOJ, House \u200cDemocrats and a \u2062legacy media that\u2062 loathes him. As the ultimate outsider, Trump \u200dwon\u200d an election that caught the political world by surprise.<\/p>\n<p>What \u2064followed his victory was \u200cfour years of obstruction.\u200c He was \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/priceless-rare-interview-trump-reveals-really-thinks-impeached-2-times\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">impeached<\/a> by House Democrats twice by \u200dthe\u200c end of his term in office.<\/p>\n<p>During the COVID\u200c pandemic, the outbreak of the virus was also used by Democrats in numerous battleground\u2063 states to alter the way \u200delections \u2062were to be administered\u2064 in \u200b2020.<\/p>\n<p>Trump railed \u200bagainst \u200btheir use \u2062of mass, unsolicited\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/twitter-plays-thought-police-censors-another-trump-tweet-mail-voting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mail-in ballots<\/a> before the voting began, and when what appeared to\u2063 be\u200d a sure election \u2063night victory in 2020 was turned upside down by ballot dumps \u2064overnight in places\u2064 such as Michigan and Pennsylvania, he fought the reported results.<\/p>\n<p>Trump \u2063spent his final months in office challenging the results in a crusade that was branded \u201cun-American\u201d by many people who had themselves <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-says-maga-republicans-election-deniers-rnc-assembles-video-dems-questioning-2016-2004-2000\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">denied<\/a> he had legitimately won the election \u200bfour years prior.<\/p>\n<p>So-called \u201celection \u200bdenying\u201d was suddenly a <em>danger to democracy<\/em>, \u2063according to Democrats \u200band the media\u2062 apparatus that is designed to carry their water.<\/p>\n<p>In\u200d the aftermath of \u200bthe Jan. 6 protest and incursion at the U.S. Capitol, Trump found himself\u2063 \u2014 for\u200d a\u2062 time \u2014 isolated to\u2064 his private\u200d residence in Florida, \u200ddeplatformed by Big\u200d Tech and blacklisted by major TV networks. Last \u2064fall, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ivanka-trump-makes-political-announcement-dad-launches-2024-run\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> \u200ca comeback.<\/p>\n<h3>Trump\u2019s Third\u2062 Presidential Bid And The Threat It Poses To \u2062The \u200bStatus Quo<\/h3>\n<p>In the\u200b aftermath of his presidency,\u2063 Trump was treated as\u200d a political leper while Biden \u2063at first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/all-you-need-to-know-about-the-three-indictments-trump-is-facing\/\" title=\"Trump is facing three indictments. Here's what you need to know.\">enjoyed positive \u200dapproval ratings<\/a>. By November 2022, Biden had \u2062sunk into negative \u200bterritory with voters whose \u200dlives had been negatively impacted by his policies.<\/p>\n<p>Trump declared\u200d his intent to \u2062mount another White House bid after the midterms. But Biden\u2019s leadership problems coupled with \u2063credible allegations his family \u2062is\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/no-dignity-video-hunter-biden-plea-deal-shows-just-corrupt-wh-really\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">corrupt<\/a> \u200cled\u200d to \u2062Trump \u2014 and not Biden \u2014\u200b in court.<\/p>\n<p>If elected next year, Trump would have no\u2063 more\u200c campaigning to do, \u200cand he would be free to radically shake\u2062 up\u2064 the \u200dfederal government, which he has\u200b promised to do. Polling has purported to\u200d show his chances for re-election \u2064are \u2062strong.<\/p>\n<p>With that in mind, he\u200c poses an existential threat to \u2062many of \u2063the institutions that are\u2064 currently\u2064 working against \u2063him. The groundwork for disqualifying\u2062 him from another\u200c term began before Election Day in 2020 and ramped\u200d up \u2063shortly after he\u2062 left office.<\/p>\n<h3>The First Indictment: \u201cHush\u2064 Money\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>Trump is\u200b charged with 34 felony counts of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/are-the-charges-brought-against-the-trump-organizations-cfo-part-of-a-witch-hunt-experts-weigh-in\/\" title=\"Are The Charges Brought Against The Trump Organization\u2019s CFO Part Of A Witch Hunt? Experts Weigh In\">falsifying business records<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2023, Trump faced his first set \u200bof charges in New York City after\u2063 a grand jury <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/braggs-prosecution-trump-hits-big-potential-snag-judge-actually-last-person-selected\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">indicted<\/a> \u200d him for\u200d allegedly \u200dviolating a state record-keeping \u2062law.<\/p>\n<p>The charges stemmed from\u2063 allegations that Trump\u2062 fraudulently\u200d disguised \u2063reimbursed money to his then-personal attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-michael-cohen-heads-to-prison-in-trump-hush-money-scheme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael Cohen<\/a> for payments to former adult \u2064film star Stormy Daniels.<\/p>\n<p>Daniels insisted she was paid by\u2062 Cohen prior to the\u200d 2016 election\u2064 to \u200dkeep \u2063her allegations of an affair \u2064with Trump quiet. Trump denied the affair \u2064occurred.<\/p>\n<p>Manhattan\u200d District Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/alvin-braggs-office-suffers-big-loss-case-donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alvin Bragg\u2019s<\/a> office has accused Trump of fraud \u2014 \u2063which he has denied.<\/p>\n<p>He has pleaded not \u200bguilty, and \u200dhis trial \u200cin \u2063the case is scheduled for March \u206425, 2024.<\/p>\n<h3>The Second Indictment: Possessing Classified Documents<\/h3>\n<p>Trump is charged with \u206232 counts \u200dof willful retention of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-rips-trump-for-doing-the-same-thing-the-obama-administration-did\/\" title=\"Joe Biden Rips Trump For Doing The Same Thing The Obama Administration Did\">national defense information<\/a>, six counts of obstruction and two\u200d counts of uttering false\u2063 statements.<\/p>\n<p>The federal \u200bprosecution of Trump began in early 2022 when the Justice Department initiated an investigation into \u200chis retention \u200dof classified documents after his presidency.\u200d In August 2022, the FBI <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fbi-reissues-trump-raid-inventory-something-changed-since-last-release\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">conducted a raid<\/a> at Mar-a-Lago, seizing documents with classified \u2064markings.<\/p>\n<p>Jack Smith \u200cwas appointed as the special counsel in November 2022 to\u200d lead the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>A\u200c federal grand jury\u2063 in Washington, D.C. reviewed evidence and heard testimony, including from Trump\u2019s legal \u200cteam. The \u200binvestigation culminated in a grand\u200b jury indictment on June 9.<\/p>\n<p>Trump \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-trump-indicted-deep-state-tries-taking-45th-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was charged<\/a> with 37 felony counts, many of them \u200cunder the Espionage Act, related to \u2063the alleged mishandling of classified documents. \u200bHe is also charged\u200b with obstruction of justice\u200c and allegedly\u2062 making \u2062false statements.<\/p>\n<p>Trump pleaded \u200bnot guilty\u2063 at an\u200b arraignment\u200c on June 13, and his\u2063 trial is scheduled for \u200dMay 20, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Trump was later\u200b charged \u2014 along with an \u2062aide named \u2063Walt\u2064 Nauta and a Mar-a-Lago employee\u2062 named Carlos De Oliveira \u2014 for the alleged destruction of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-responds-special-counsel-jack-smith-hits-new-charges-says-way-general-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/attackers-throw-molotov-cocktails-at-jewish-home-in-israel\/\" title=\"Attackers Throw Molotov Cocktails at Jewish Home in Israel\">security camera footage<\/a><\/a> at the resort.<\/p>\n<h3>The Third Indictment:\u200d Jan. 6 And Challenging The 2020 Election Results<\/h3>\n<p>Trump is charged with one \u2063count of conspiracy to defraud\u200b the U.S. government, one\u200d count of conspiracy against civil rights and two counts of obstruction.<\/p>\n<p>Between Election Day in 2020 and Jan. 6, 2021, Trump and his \u2064advisers explored every legal avenue available to them to challenge the results of the \u200dvote \u2014 which \u200dTrump argued had been rigged.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c campaign to challenge the election essentially ended after Jan. 6 when a number of Trump\u2019s supporters\u2064 entered \u200dthe U.S. Capitol during the certification \u2062of the results.<\/p>\n<p>A peaceful transition of power occurred, \u2063but Democrats with a\u2064 House majority weaponized their power and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/elon-musk-destroys-jan-6-committee-tucker-carlson-shares-narrative-shattering-new-footage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">targeted<\/a> \u2062 Trump\u2019s use of his First\u2062 Amendment rights\u200c to cast doubt on the integrity of the voting.<\/p>\n<p>A House select\u2064 committee convened\u2062 to investigate the Capitol incursion and Trump\u2019s alleged\u2062 role in it weeks after he left office. He was ultimately referred to the DOJ for prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>On Aug. 2, \u2063a Washington, D.C., grand jury \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-scores-major-win-following-third-indictment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">indicted him<\/a>. No trial date has been \u2062set,\u200c but a\u2062 court \u200bwill\u200b likely\u2062 bog Trump down during the Republican Party\u2063 primary voting \u2014 as the\u200b other two cases will.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jumbo-calendar-shows-suspicious-timing-trump-indictments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The timing<\/a> of \u2064Trump\u2019s indictments are questionable, and\u200b their respective trials are expected to interfere with his campaign.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/08\/02\/trump-indictment-hunter-biden-fitch-credit-rating\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Axios\u2019<\/a> Stef \u2063Kight pointed out,\u2064 the Aug. 2 indictment \u201cblocks\u2064 out Biden\u2019s bad news.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kight\u2062 continued, \u201cAs his most-likely 2024 challenger \u200bfaces a growing list of serious, criminal \u200ccharges, Biden faces his own \u200dpolitical battles over \u2063his son\u2019s\u2064 business dealings, the border and the U.S. economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump is facing legal \u2064challenges from\u200d almost\u2064 every\u2062 direction \u200bas he is perhaps months away from a\u2062 rematch with Biden.<\/p>\n<h3>More \u200bTrouble Might Be On\u2062 The Horizon In Georgia<\/h3>\n<p>While Trump faces two federal indictments and one state indictment in New\u2062 York, \u200cWillis \u200ccould announce charges against Trump\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/streets-around-courthouse-shut-rumors-another-trump-indictment-grow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at any \u200dtime<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A Fulton\u200c County grand jury has targeted Trump associates, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/prosecutor-appears-moving-trump-letter-reveals-plan-begins-sending-staff-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rudy Giuliani<\/a>,\u2062 Mark Meadows and Republican Sen.
