Another former teammate, Hope Solo, <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/hope-solo-megan-rapinoe-bullied-soccer-teammates-to-protest-anthem\/\">said<\/a> \u2063in 2021 that Rapinoe would &#8220;bully&#8221; \u2064members of the \u2063team into kneeling during the national anthem.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve seen Megan Rapinoe almost bully players into kneeling,&#8221; \u2064Solo said at the time. &#8220;It&#8217;s our right as Americans to\u200b do\u2063 it whatever way we&#8217;re comfortable with and I think that&#8217;s really\u200b hard being on the main stage right now with so many political issues for\u2064 athletes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Lloyd said during \u200cthis week&#8217;s podcast that\u2062 the team has a problem with\u200b &#8220;not being respectful of others.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think when \u200dI first got onto the team, there was\u2063 just\u200c a level of respect for everybody there,&#8221; Lloyd\u200c said. &#8220;For coaches, for other players, for support staff. You know, massages, trainers, doctors. And as the years\u2062 have \u2062kind of gone by\u2014it\u2019s little stuff, \u200dbut it kind of amounts to big things\u2014and ultimately affects on the field.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rapinoe has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-passes-768-billion-defense-spending-bill\/\" title=\"House Passes 8 Billion Defense Spending Bill\">received widespread criticism<\/a>,\u200b especially from conservatives,\u200c for bringing politics and division to the game.<\/p>\n<p>Solo said in 2021 that Rapinoe&#8217;s fight for &#8220;equal&#8221; pay backfired.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We\u2064 were so\u200d close to \u2064achieving equal pay in 2016; it\u2063 was offered to us, we were about to sign the contract,&#8221; Solo said. &#8220;But Megan Rapinoe \u200cand the leaders of that team signed a less-than-equal [collective bargaining agreement], which is concerning\u2064 for the overall class-action \u200dsuit and the \u200doverall \u200dfight.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A former U.S. women&#8217;s soccer player blamed the team&#8217;s World Cup elimination on a sense of entitlement within the team culture.
