Surprisingly, \u2064four times as many \u2064Democratic legislators\u200c have switched to the Republican Party compared to\u2063 the other way around.<\/p>\n<p>According to a recent report by <em>Politico<\/em>, 83 Democratic \u200dlawmakers have joined\u200c the GOP since 1994, while \u200donly 23 Republicans have become Democrats. \u200cThis year alone,\u2064 five\u200d legislators have made the switch from blue to red.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most notable party switchers\u2064 is Georgia state representative Mesha Mainor. In an interview with the <em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em>, Mainor revealed that\u200d she felt &#8220;crucified&#8221; and &#8220;abandoned&#8221; by the Democrats\u2064 after\u2063 supporting a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kentucky-gov-vetoes-school-choice-bill-despite-sending-kids-to-private-school\/\" title=\"Kentucky Gov. West Virginia lawmaker Elliott\u200b Pritt also made \u200cthe decision to switch parties.<\/p>\n<p>There are \u2063even rumors of another West Virginia Democrat planning to\u200b switch. House Minority Leader \u2063Doug Skaff recently resigned his leadership position,\u200b potentially further shrinking the Democratic Party&#8217;s ranks in the\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/south-carolina-to-become-latest-state-to-pass-heartbeat-bill\/\" title=\"South Carolina to Become Latest State to Pass Heartbeat Bill\">deep-red state<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>These party switches \u2063coincide with \u2062a significant shift in the political landscape. Republicans are now outnumbering Democrats for \u200bthe\u200d first time since 1988, \u200daccording to a Gallup \u200bpoll.
