Quelle surprise.<\/p>\n<p>As the Tuesday \u200cAxios report noted, \u201cAmericans have turned to Google in droves to find information about Trump and the topic of \u2018indictment\u2019 with every new case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thus, in August of 2022,\u200c when the FBI raided Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/senior-fbi-official-just-blew-3-gaping-holes-agencys-credibility-mar-lago-raid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">residence at Mar-a-Lago in Florida<\/a>, searches \u200cfor Trump spiked. The searches hit their highest level when\u200b Bragg\u2019s \u2063indictment came down in April\u200b \u2014 and indictment started\u200c trending, as well.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s June indictment for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bad-news-for-dems-new-numbers-show-trump-indictment-routine-is-losing-its-impact\/\" title=\"Dems dismayed as Trump indictment loses impact.\">classified \u2062documents generated significantly lower \u200bnumbers<\/a> for \u2064both\u2064 \u201cTrump\u201d and \u201cindictment.\u201d The Aug. 1 indictment for purported crimes related to the 2020 election and the\u200d Jan. 6 Capitol incursion were slightly \u200blower:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Trump\u2019s legal drama\u2062 loses \u2064shock value <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/RWQSQhlV9E\">https:\/\/t.co\/RWQSQhlV9E<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Axios (@axios) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/axios\/status\/1689014982355128323?\">August 8, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Social media engagement tracking firm NewsWhip also reported \u200dthat\u2062 engagements \u2064on\u2062 platforms like Twitter and Facebook were similar\u200d to the the Google \u2062trends.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200b same went for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnn-ratings-tank-7-year-low-fox-3-months-away-completing-20-year-run-ratings-king\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cable news \u2062ratings<\/a>, \u200cAxios reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn TV, coverage of Trump\u2019s first\u200b indictment in April drew a huge spike in viewership, \u2064according to\u2063 Nielsen ratings,\u201d the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSubsequent indictments\u200c have drawn fewer viewers, although last week\u2019s coverage of Trump\u2019s third \u2064indictment and arrest drew roughly the same level of \u200bviewership \u200cas the second\u2063 indictment in\u2064 June.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the understatement of the week, Axios\u200b reported that these indictments \u201care starting\u2062 to feel routine, experts \u200csay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But, of course, the alleged \u201cexperts\u201d are blaming conservatives. Again, quelle surprise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bombast and howling accusations \u2064after \u2063each charge, the lurid threats and endless victimologies, the mind \u2064numbing repetition of \u2062it all \u2026 is supposed to do just that: numb the mind so that sense making\u200b feels impossible\u2064 and paying attention \u200dseems pointless,\u201d said Jay Rosen, a New \u200dYork University professor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a\u2064 name for it: flooding the zone with crap.\u200c It\u2019s supposed to exhaust whatever interest \u200cwe once had in following the news.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If \u201cflooding\u2064 the zone with crap\u201d is indeed the problem, I have an easy\u200d fix \u2062for the \u201cexperts\u201d: Stop indicting Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Of the three cases currently \u200cfiled against the president, only one seems \u200cto pose\u2064 a genuine threat to the 2024 GOP presidential \u200cfront-runner.\u2064 That would be the classified documents case \u2014 which, from the look of Jack\u200c Smith\u2019s indictment, may be more complicated than Trump\u2019s \u200csupporters might \u200bcare to admit.<\/p>\n<p>However, even\u200c in that \u2063case, there\u2019s an \u200dissue inasmuch as \u200bmaterially similar classified document cases\u200c against figures like\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fbi-revelation-hillary-server-emails-found-obamas-exec-office-computers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hillary Clinton<\/a>, Joe Biden \u200dand \u200dMike Pence have ended without any charges \u2063being \u2063filed.<\/p>\n<p>Bragg\u2019s hush-money indictments are\u200d ostensibly jokes designed \u200dto \u200draise the progressive DA\u2019s profile nationally.\u2063 It worked for a few minutes until legal experts began noticing that the case had serious deficiencies \u2014 particularly in \u200drelation to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/da-bragg-raked-coals-democrat-voters-trumps-arraignment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statute of limitations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Special counsel \u2064Jack Smith\u2019s Jan. 6 indictment, meanwhile, \u200cseems to verge, in its present \u200dform, on\u2062 criminalizing speech protected \u2062by the First Amendment. And, as for the potential indictment in Fulton County, Georgia\u2063 over then-President Trump\u2019s call to \u200bGeorgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger \u2014 well, another day, another\u200b charge. \u2064What else is new?<\/p>\n<p>According to\u2063 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/epolls\/2024\/president\/us\/2024_republican_presidential_nomination-7548.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RealClearPolitics<\/a> polling aggregate, \u200dTrump \u200dis \u2064getting 53.7 percent of prospective \u2063GOP primary voters \u2014 38 points up on his\u2064 closest rival. Not only that, but he\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-shows-absolute-domination-latest-harvard-poll-beats-biden-5-desantis-40\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">running neck-and-neck<\/a> with President\u200d Joe \u200cBiden in a\u200d potential 2020 electoral\u200c rematch.<\/p>\n<p>Voters, in other\u2062 words, are more concerned about the issues, not about show \u2063indictments that veer dangerously\u200c close to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/doj-attempts-to-imprison-major-hunter-biden-witness-before-congressional-testimony\/\" title=\"DOJ tries to jail key Hunter Biden witness ahead of congressional testimony.\">banana republic territory<\/a>. \u200bWith each successive round of charges, with every flood of\u200c \u201cthe \u2062zone\u201d with more legal effluence, Americans gradually \u200close interest.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re inured to prosecutors calling\u2063 wolf now.
