McGonigal was \u200cfirst arrested in January at JFK airport in\u200d New York\u200d after arriving from the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>He initially pleaded innocent; however, the\u200b U.K. \u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-12382523\/Disgraced-FBI-counterintelligence-chief-investigated-Trumps-debunked-Kremlin-ties-set-plead-guilty-colluding-RUSSIA-illegally-working-oligarch.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daily Mail<\/a> \u200dreported that he\u2063 appears to be reassessing his decision.<\/p>\n<p>He is now scheduled for a\u2064 <a <strong>\u201cThe Court\u2063 has been informed \u2062that \u200cDefendant Charles\u200c McGonigal \u2063may wish to enter a change of plea.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before his retirement from the FBI in\u2062 2018, \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mike-huckabee-insanity-fbi-no-way-possible\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McGonigal<\/a> \u2063 played a key role in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/robert-mueller-to-teach-course-on-his-trump-investigation\/\" title=\"Robert Mueller to Teach Course on His Trump Investigation\">controversial investigation<\/a> of \u2064Trump\u2019s supposed ties to Russia.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by WNBC, he now faces accusations of numerous illegal entanglements with Oleg Deripaska, a Russian billionaire, his \u200dassociate Sergey Shestakov, and another unnamed party.<\/p>\n<p>In \u20642019, when \u200bthe U.S. was tightening sanctions \u2062on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-former-senior-fbi-official-arrested-allegedly-working-russian-oligarch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Russian<\/a> figureheads and those people who funded them, McGonigal allegedly\u2062 took steps to\u200c get Deripaska removed from the sanctions list, the Daily Mail\u200d reported.<\/p>\n<p>According to WNBC,\u2063 prosecutors also accuse him of maliciously investigating a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/google-docs-changes-auto-correct-algorithm-to-be-more-inclusive\/\" title=\"Google Docs Changes Auto-Correct Algorithm To Be More \u2018Inclusive\u2019\">business rival<\/a> of Deripaska\u2019s, in exchange for \u2064payments that Deripaska and his associates then made in secret.<\/p>\n<p>Deripaska\u2062 and his partners allegedly used shell companies and other money laundering tools to hide their financial trails.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p \u2063years with the FBI,\u200c is accused of accepting $225,000 from a former \u2062Albanian intelligence employee and attempting to hide\u200c evidence of the transaction.<\/p>\n<p>McGonigal\u2019s lawyer Seth DuCharme noted last\u200d week that\u200d he saw \u2062a \u201cdecent chance the case is going to be\u2062 resolved,\u201d but some changes may \u200bhave taken place\u200d since then.<\/p>\n<p>The legal team has not responded to the updates of this week.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Attorney\u2019s office in <a
