In 2019, a jury awarded the Gibsons <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/woke-college-told-pay-bakery-gets-major-win-court-david-can-still-overcome-goliath\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$44 million<\/a> in damages as part of a defamation lawsuit against Oberlin, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/education-ohio-lawsuits-race-and-ethnicity-12820f6a7ff07d22551c7603e70b9d39\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Associated Press<\/a>, but a judge reduced \u200cit to $25 million.<\/p>\n<p>The interest\u2064 on\u200b the initial payment has \u200bsince accumulated to $36 million, and the college is demanding that its insurance providers \u200ccover it, but are finding out the\u2062 hard way that it may not happen.<\/p>\n<p>The Chronicle reported that the college \u200bis suing Lexington Insurance Company of New \u200bYork, United Educators Insurance of Bethesda, Maryland, Mount Hawley \u200bInsurance \u2062Company\u2064 of Peoria, Illinois, and StarStone Specialty Insurance \u2063Company of Cincinnati.<\/p>\n<h3>Should insurance \u200ccompanies cover this judgment?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Yes<\/li>\n<li>No<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Completing this\u200c poll entitles you to The Western Journal news updates free of charge.\u200b You may opt\u200b out \u200dat anytime.
