He stated, \u2062\u201cStudents\u2062 should never fear\u200c going to school for simply \u200bbeing who they are.\u200b The\u2064 district\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-attorney-general-investigating-chino-school-district-over-gender-parental-notification-policy\/\" title=\"CA Attorney General probes Chino School District for gender parental notification policy.\">forced outing policy threatens<\/a> the safety and well-being of LGBTQ+ students vulnerable to harassment and\u2063 potential abuse from peers and\u200b unaccepting family members.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Bonta previously\u200c sent a letter urging the school \u2063district not to adopt\u200d the \u2062policy, but it was implemented regardless. The policy \u200bmandates that\u2062 teachers notify \u200dparents within three\u200b days if their children begin using names and \u200bpronouns that do\u200c not match their birth certificates. It also requires notification\u200d if a student requests\u200c to\u2063 use a\u2064 different bathroom \u200bor join a\u2064 sports team of the opposite gender.<\/p>\n<p>The Chino\u200b Valley <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/san-francisco-officials-declare-acronyms-racist\/\" title=\"San Francisco Officials Declare Acronyms Racist\">school board president<\/a>, Sonja Shaw, expressed her opposition to the investigation, claiming that state \u2062officials are overstepping\u200d their boundaries. She stated, \u201cThis\u2064 is a ploy to try to scare all the other \u200bboards across California from adopting the policy. I\u2062 won\u2019t back down and will stand in the gap to protect\u200b our \u2062kids \u200cfrom big government \u200bbullies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting where the \u200cpolicy was adopted, tensions ran high. California\u2019s superintendent of public instruction, Tony Thurmond, attended the meeting to argue against the policy.\u2062 However, his speaking time was cut short, and he was escorted out by security.\u2063 Shaw, the\u2062 school board president, accused \u200dThurmond of proposing things that &#8220;pervert \u2064children.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The community members who attended the meeting\u2064 were divided\u200b on the issue, with some expressing support for the policy and\u200b others vehemently\u2063 opposing it.
