Critics \u2063say he\u2019s trying \u2064to stifle opposition to the state\u2019s \u2064LGBT agenda in schools.<\/p>\n<p>The state\u2019s top\u2062 cop Rob Bonta said\u2064 Friday\u200b he is \u2062exploring\u2064 &#8220;potential legal \u2063violations&#8221;\u2064 by Chino Valley Unified School District in Southern California,\u200b alleging that its\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/california\/you-will-not-bully-us-california-school-board-shuts-down-state-superintendent\/\">parent notification\u2063 policy<\/a> could \u200c&#8221;expose a student to parental abuse\u2062 or increase their risk of self-harm or suicide.&#8221; Chino\u2019s board voted last month to\u2062 reject <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ca.gov\/re\/di\/eo\/faqs.asp\">state guidance<\/a> that urges \u2063schools to \u200dkeep <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/this-is-a-ploy-california-ag-launches-probe-into-district-that-voted-to-alert-parents-if-children-identify-as-trans\/\" title=\"California's Attorney General investigates district's decision to notify parents if their children identify as transgender, calling it a scheme.\">students\u2019 gender exploration hidden<\/a> from their parents.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This\u200d is a ploy to try \u2063to scare \u2063all \u2064the other boards across California from\u2062 adopting the policy,&#8221; Chino school board president Sonja Shaw told the <em>Washington Free\u200b Beacon<\/em>. &#8220;We have united all over California, and \u2062people from all over the nation are linking up\u200d to protect our kids \u200band ensure \u2063parental rights. They did us a favor and just revealed more\u200b of their agenda and exposed their\u2063 intentions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Bonta\u2019s investigation comes amid a spate of Democratic crackdowns on \u200bparents and school officials in the name\u200d of LGBT ideology. Gov.\u2064 Gavin Newsom (D.) condemned Armenian parents in Glendale who protested against their school\u200d district\u2019s decision to celebrate\u200c Pride month. He also threatened \u200ba $1.5\u2063 million fine against a different Southern California school board that \u2062rejected an LGBT-themed social\u2064 studies curriculum\u2014a move \u200che <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/california\/political-grandstanding-newsoms-push-to-strongarm-california-school-district-lacks-legal-standing\/\">lacked the legal grounds<\/a> to make\u2014which ultimately led the board to backtrack.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens \u2063of California school districts are considering policies similar to \u200cChino\u2019s, said Jonathan \u2064Zachreson, \u2063a Northern California school board member and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/more-money-more-problems-schools-struggle-to-spend-covid-relief-funds\/\" title=\"More Money, More Problems: Schools Struggle To Spend COVID Relief Funds\">parental rights advocate<\/a>. One of these,\u200b Murrieta\u200d Valley Unified\u2063 School District in Riverside \u2064County, is\u2063 poised to\u2064 pass its own version on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are plenty of school boards in California that understand the \u200dimportance parents play in\u200d their\u2064 children&#8217;s lives and plan to pass\u2064 a similar policy,&#8221;\u200b Zachreson said. &#8220;I don&#8217;t anticipate \u2063these school districts \u200dbeing deterred\u2062 by Bonta&#8217;s baseless investigation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When the\u200c Chino school district trustees approved\u200c the parental notification policy \u200bon July 20, they drew a\u2063 rare in-person appearance \u200bfrom state public schools\u200d chief Tony Thurmond, \u200bwho condemned\u2063 the move and <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/california\/you-will-not-bully-us-california-school-board-shuts-down-state-superintendent\/\">tried\u2062 to\u2064 take over<\/a> the meeting.\u2062 Bonta \u2062also\u2064 sent the district a <a href=\"https:\/\/oag.ca.gov\/system\/files\/attachments\/press-docs\/7.20.23_Item%20II.A.1%20on%20July%2020%2C%202023%20Agenda%20--%20%E2%80%9CNew%20Board%20Policy%205020.1%20%E2%80%93%20Parental%20Notification%E2%80%9Ddocx%20%282%29.pdf\">warning letter<\/a> saying the policy may violate state \u2064and \u200cfederal privacy laws\u2014although\u2062 he <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LauraPowellEsq\/status\/1682485878160252930\">failed to cite<\/a> any relevant statutes or legal precedents.<\/p>\n<p>Lance Christensen, vice president of policy \u2064for the California Policy Center and a 2022 Republican candidate for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/after-teachers-claimed-they-were-too-scared-to-work-many-never-got-vaccinated\/\" title=\"After Teachers Claimed They Were Too Scared To Work, Many Never Got Vaccinated\">public schools chief<\/a>, said the investigation shows that Democratic leaders\u2063 are doing the \u2063bidding \u200cof <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kamala-harris-condemns-d-c-demonstrators-despite-past-encouragement-of-violent-blm-mobs\/\" title=\"Kamala Harris condemns D.C. demonstrators despite past encouragement of violent BLM mobs\">left-wing activists<\/a>, by trying to\u2063 &#8220;silence parents any\u200b way they can whether it be \u200bthrough intimidation, bullying, lawfare, or a massive disinformation \u200dcampaign.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The California Justice Department missed a deadline for\u2063 a \u200c <em>Free Beacon<\/em> public records \u2062request for emails discussing Chino\u2019s\u200c case, \u2063saying Friday that &#8220;an extension is needed \u200bto consult with multiple \u2063components of the Department with\u200d a substantial interest in the records\u200c requested.&#8221;\u2064 The department did\u200c not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>A statewide poll\u2063 in June <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/politics\/partner_surveys\/california_voters_support_parental_rights_by_overwhelming_margins\">found<\/a> that\u200b 62 percent \u2062of\u2062 California voters would support a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/desantis-signs-law-creating-police-unit-to-deal-with-election-crimes\/\" title=\"DeSantis Signs Law Creating Police Unit To Deal With Election Crimes\">law requiring schools<\/a> to tell parents if their child is\u200d &#8220;identifying, requesting to identify, or being\u2062 treated as a gender\u200b that\u200d doesn\u2019t align with their biological sex.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parental rights advocates accuse California&#8217;s attorney general of suppressing dissent by investigating a school district&#8217;s plan to inform parents about their child&#8217;s gender identity.
