In response, the \u200bDEA has announced that it will hold &#8220;public listening sessions&#8221; to gather input on the rule.<\/p>\n<p>In May, the DEA delayed the\u2063 implementation of the rule, which aimed to roll\u2063 back the telehealth prescription flexibility granted\u2062 during the coronavirus pandemic. The rule \u200dwould make\u2063 it more difficult for doctors to prescribe medications like Adderall\u2063 and opioids over the internet.<\/p>\n<h3>Concerns and \u200dComments<\/h3>\n<p>The impetus for\u200c the rule was a concern that online prescribing\u200c companies \u2063are overprescribing and unable \u2063to conduct a \u2062thorough assessment of\u200d patients who have never visited\u2064 a doctor\u200c in person. Michael Petegorsky, the general counsel for\u2062 Mindbloom,\u2062 stated, &#8220;Telemedicine \u2062has become\u2064 a lifeline for Americans\u200b \u2013 especially\u2063 people struggling with\u200c their mental health, many of whom can\u2019t access in-person\u200b care due to lack of\u2064 providers, cost, time, and stigma. \u2063If we\u2019re going \u200dto end the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/9-year-old-girl-pepper-sprayed-during-interaction-with-rochester-police\/\" title=\"9-Year-Old Girl Pepper Sprayed During Interaction With Rochester Police\">mental health crisis<\/a>, it\u2019s vital that \u2062we\u2064 preserve this pathway\u2063 to care.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mindbloom was \u2062one of the companies that provided \u2062comments on the DEA rule.<\/p>\n<h3>&#8220;Special Registration&#8221;\u2062 for Online Prescriptions<\/h3>\n<p>Last week, the DEA announced that it is &#8220;open to considering&#8221; a &#8220;special registration&#8221; for online prescriptions of certain controlled substances.
