She told Winfrey, \u201cIt was not our decision to make,\u201d as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oprahmag.com\/entertainment\/a35757402\/meghan-markle-archie-skin-color\/\">Oprah Magazine<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The exchange was preceded by Markle claiming that when she was pregnant with Archie, she was told that Archie wouldn\u2019t be given a title and that he wouldn\u2019t have the same security he would have had with a title. Winfrey asked, \u201cHow did they explain to you that your son, the great-grandson of the Queen, wasn\u2019t going to be a prince? You certainly must have had some conversations with Harry about it and had your own suspicions as to why they didn\u2019t want to make Archie a prince. Why do you think that is?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the exchange revolving around Markle\u2019s charge, Winfrey asked, \u201cWhat are those thoughts? Why do you think that is? Do you think it was because of his race? And I know that\u2019s a loaded question, but \u2014\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em><strong>Markle:<\/strong> I can give you an honest answer. In those months when I was pregnant, all around the same time, so we had in tandem the conversation of, \u201cHe won\u2019t be given security, he\u2019s not gonna be given a title,\u201d and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he\u2019s born. And \u2014<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Winfrey:<\/strong> What?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Markle:<\/strong> And \u2014<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Winfrey:<\/strong> Who, who is having that conversation with you? What?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Markle<\/strong>: So, um \u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Winfrey:<\/strong> There\u2019s a conversat \u2014 hold up \u2014<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Markle<\/strong> There are several conversa \u2014 there are several conversations.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Winfrey:<\/strong> There\u2019s a conversation. With you.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Markel:<\/strong> With Harry.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Winfrey:<\/strong> About how dark your baby is going to be.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Markle:<\/strong> Potentially and what that would mean or look like.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Winfrey:<\/strong> Who? And you\u2019re not going to tell me who had the conversation?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Markle:<\/strong> I think that would be very damaging to them.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cMarkle confirmed that Harry had spoken to a close family member on the subject of their future child\u2019s skin color,\u201d Oprah Magazine noted.<\/p>\n<p>Harry <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2021\/03\/07\/meghan-markle-accuses-royal-family-racism-archie-dark-skin\/\">confirmed<\/a> the alleged incident to Oprah, saying, \u201cThat conversation I\u2019m never going to share. But at the time, it was awkward, I was a bit shocked. I\u2019m not comfortable sharing it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At one point Winfrey asked, \u201cThey were concerned that if he were too brown that that would be a problem?\u201d Markle responded, \u201cI wasn\u2019t able to follow up.
