But,\u2062 look, we will always \u2014 we will always comply \u200bwith the law. But, look, I want\u200c to tell you, I don\u2019t know what the path of\u200d this indictment \u200bwill be. The president\u2019s entitled to a presumption of innocence.\u2063 He\u2019s entitled to\u2062 make his defense in court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThere actually are profound issues\u2063 around this pertaining \u2064to the \u2062First Amendment, freedom of speech and the rest. I\u2019m\u200c confident he and his \u2064lawyers will litigate all of those things,\u201d Pence continued.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe lived through the Russia hoax, the president being impeached for \u200da phone call.\u2062 The day after January 6, Nancy Pelosi tried to distort the 25th Amendment\u2063 to\u2063 get us to remove the president. And then to \u2063go through a process \u2064of \u2064impeaching\u2063 the\u200b president of \u200cthe United States after\u2062 he left office\u2064 was just one more effort by the Democrats,\u201d Pence noted.<\/p>\n<h3>Pence Responds to Trump&#8217;s\u200b Criticism<\/h3>\n<p>Bash\u2064 quoted a Trump tweet\u2062 in which he wrote, \u201cI feel badly for Mike Pence, who is attracting no crowds, enthusiasm or loyalty \u200dfrom \u2064people who,\u2063 as a member of the Trump administration, should be loving him. \u2026. The V.P. had\u2063 power that Mike didn\u2019t understand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Trump \u2063was wrong then\u2064 and he\u2019s wrong now,\u201d Pence responded. \u201cI had no \u2063right to overturn\u2063 the\u200c election. Very clear that, \u2062under\u200d the Constitution of the \u2063United\u200d States,\u2062 Article 2, my responsibility as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-defector-emails-pipeline-to-obama-admin-seen-as-currency\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Defector Emails: 'Pipeline' to Obama Admin Seen as 'Currency'\">vice president<\/a>, \u200bas president \u200dof the Senate \u2062was to \u2062preside over a joint session of Congress, where the\u2064 Constitution \u200bsays the\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-real-clear-politics-say-they-never-called-pennsylvania\/\" title=\"BREAKING: Real Clear Politics -- SAY THEY NEVER CALLED PENNSYLVANIA\">electoral votes<\/a> shall be opened and shall\u200c be counted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI truly do believe that \u2064we kept our oath to \u200bthe Constitution that day,\u201d \u200cPence \u2064stated. \u200d\u201cBut the American\u200b people deserve \u200dto know that President Trump\u2064 asked \u200cme to put him over my oath \u2063to \u200bthe Constitution. But I kept my oath, and I always will.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Pence&#8217;s Commitment\u2062 to the\u2062 Constitution<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOur Constitution \u2062is more important than\u200b any one man,\u201d he \u2064said. \u201cOur country is more\u2063 important than any one man\u2019s career.  And I\u2019m running for office because, when \u200cpeople look at\u200d my record, I hope they understand that we have kept faith, not just with the Constitution, but with \u2062the broad \u2063conservative agenda that\u2019s always carried \u200bour party to victory and, frankly, always carried America to unbounded\u2062 security and prosperity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe presidency belongs to the American people, and the American \u200bpeople alone,\u201d Pence declared. \u201cBut, look,\u200b in the days before,\u200b the president was talking about us <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/los-angeles-rejecting-votes-to-oust-radical-prosecutor-at-shockingly-high-rate-recall-campaign-says\/\" title=\"Los Angeles Rejecting Votes to Oust Radical Prosecutor at \u2018Shockingly\u2019 High Rate, Recall Campaign Says\">rejecting votes<\/a>. Then, late in the process, his lawyers suggested that we return \u2063votes to \u2064the\u2063 states. But, frankly, the day before January 6, if\u200c memory serves, they came back, his lawyers \u200ddid, \u200dand said, we want you to reject\u2063 votes outright. They were asking me to overturn the election. I had no right to overturn the election.\u200b I know we did our duty that day.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Pence&#8217;s Future Plans<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt\u2019s awful\u200d early here,\u201d Pence\u200c noted. \u201cI mean, we\u2019re still about six months away from Iowa, and then right after that \u200dNew Hampshire. \u2026 I really do believe \u200bthat there\u2019s\u200b a \u200clot of Republicans \u200cthat know we not only\u200c need new leadership in the White House, but we need\u200d new leadership\u2064 in the Republican Party. \u2026 I\u2019m confident I will\u200c be able \u200dto support the Republican nominee, especially if it\u2019s me. \u2026 \u2062 I\u2019m\u2064 confident, as they have \u2063done so \u200dmany times before, Republican primary voters are going to choose new leadership for a new \u2064time in the life of \u2064our \u200dnation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe simply have got to\u200b move our country forward. We have \u200bgot \u200dto \u200dput Joe Biden into retirement.
