Don \u200dBeyer of Virginia and 24 other Democrats. Republicans control the House with a narrow majority.<\/p>\n<p>Beyer proposed a similar bill last year that put the 1,000 \u2063percent excise tax on anything that was\u200c or was part of a semiautomatic weapon that\u200c could hold more than 10 rounds of \u2064ammunition.<\/p>\n<p>His bill came\u2064 one day after more \u200dthan 100 Democrats of\u200c the\u2062 Gun Violence Prevention Task Force wrote House Speaker Kevin \u2062McCarthy to say they were miffed not a single\u2062 gun \u2064control bill had been voted \u2063upon during this session.<\/p>\n<p>Amid the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/megyn-kelly-says-fing-sick-calls-ban-guns-urges-country-something-else-instead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">congressional wrangling<\/a> came a report that the Biden \u2063administration\u200d could be issuing a\u2063 new rule \u200dto follow up on a piece of the\u200d &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/senate-bill\/2938\/text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bipartisan Safer Communities Act<\/a>&#8221; that was \u2063signed into law \u200dlast year, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/08\/01\/us\/gun-laws-private-sales-background-checks-armslist.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The provision would force anyone who \u200cmakes money \u200bselling guns to get a federal license and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-administration-will-use-semi-permanent-soft-sided-structures-to-house-migrant-children-trump-was-blasted-for-tent-cities\/\" title=\"Biden Administration Will Use \u2018Semi-Permanent, Soft-Sided\u2019 Structures To House Migrant Children. Trump Was Blasted For \u2018Tent Cities.\u2019\">conduct background checks<\/a>. \u2063The current regulatory landscape requires only federally licensed dealers to conduct background checks and defines a dealer as someone who makes \u2063his livelihood selling firearms.<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden in March issued an executive order to put the \u200cnew provision in the fast lane.<\/p>\n<p>The Times reported that the Justice Department \u2064and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms \u200cand Explosives \u200dare working on the new rule, with\u200b an expected completion date in the latter part of 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The Times said the new provision &#8220;could set a threshold number of transactions that would \u200ddefine a dealer; gun-control groups hope to see it at five sales\u200b a year or lower. The rules will be backed up by a renewed push to prosecute businesses that refuse to register, by accessing bank records,\u200b storage unit\u200b leases and other expenses associated with running an\u2063 off-the-books gun business.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>All of this was gleefully \u200csupported by \u2064the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bidens-newly-proposed-budget-calls-nearly-2-billion-towards-federal-crackdown-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gun control<\/a> \u2063group Giffords, set up by former Democratic Rep. Gabby Giffords\u200d of Arizona, as well as Democratic Sen.
