In early 2022,\u2064 the Justice Department began investigating Trump for retaining \u200bclassified documents following his exit from the White House.\u200c Smith \u2063indicted Trump \u2062in June, \u200dand the\u200b former president pleaded not guilty. A Manhattan grand jury\u2063 voted to indict Trump in March over falsifying business records and making an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-rejects-trump-bid-to-shield-financial-records\/\" title=\"Supreme Court Rejects Trump Bid To Shield Financial Records\">alleged hush money payment<\/a> to adult film \u200bstar Stormy\u2064 Daniels.<\/p>\n<p>Despite \u2064Trump\u2019s growing list of \u200dlegal troubles, as he was \u200cindicted for a third time\u200b on Tuesday \u200bwith felony\u2064 charges for allegedly \u2063attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election,\u200d he leads his party in the polls and with the most \u200ccash on hand, having $22.5 million per federal filings from last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you have a big\u2064 lead, you don\u2019t \u2063do it,\u201d the current GOP\u2063 front-runner said in mid-July. Candidates \u200chave until 48 hours prior\u200b to the debate to decide if they \u2063will \u2062participate,\u200c meaning Trump\u2019s decision may be \u200ba last-minute call.<\/p>\n<h3>Ron\u200b DeSantis<\/h3>\n<p>Gov.\u2064 Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who is widely viewed as Trump&#8217;s top rival, will attend the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republican-debate-what-we-know-about-trump-and-other-candidates-who-could-make-the-stage\/\" title=\"GOP Debate: Insights on Trump &#038; Potential Candidates\">debate amid recent\u2063 campaign struggles<\/a>, with some critical he is not meeting the Republican \u200bParty\u2019s high \u200cexpectations.<\/p>\n<p>After his active-duty service in the United States Navy, he has been a popular governor\u200b for passing a\u2063 slew \u200cof conservative policies \u200din the Sunshine\u200d State, including a \u200dsix-week abortion ban, a number of restrictions on transgender issues such as\u200c blocking treatments for \u200cminors like hormone therapy and puberty blocker, \u2063and \u200bcracking down on drag shows.<\/p>\n<p>The DeSantis campaign confirmed \u200dthe conservative governor had\u2062 met\u2062 the donor and \u200cpolling threshold and has said he\u2019d \u201crespect the \u2062outcome\u201d of the primaries.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis said he \u200dwould participate \u200dregardless of whether Trump attends or not, telling Fox in \u200bearly \u2062July, \u201cI hope everybody who&#8217;s \u200beligible comes. I think it&#8217;s \u2064an important part of the process, and I look forward to being\u200b able\u2062 to \u200dbe on\u2062 the stage and introducing our candidacy \u2062and \u200cour vision and our \u200bleadership to a\u2062 wide\u200c audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Tim Scott<\/h3>\n<p>Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) \u2062is running on \u2064his strong Christian faith and \u2064fighting \u2062the Democratic agenda \u2062as the Senate\u2019s sole black Republican. He gained national attention by quickly moving up\u2062 the political \u2064ladder, as he was elected to Congress in 2010 and\u200c was appointed to the Senate\u2062 two years later.<\/p>\n<p>Scott confirmed he met\u200d the benchmark to\u2062 take the debate stage.\u2062 Scott said he had the 40,000 donors and the 200 unique\u200b donor requirements in\u200c June \u2063while committing to\u2062 follow the\u2064 RNC\u2063 loyalty pledge.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All Republican candidates\u2064 would be\u200c better than \u2064any\u200c Democrat candidate,&#8221; \u200dScott \u2064said to \u200dFox News.<\/p>\n<p>Scott brought \u2063in\u2063 more than $2\u2064 million \u200bin \u200bthe \u206424 hours after starting his presidential run, already having $22 million\u2063 from his Senate \u2063campaign prior to \u200centering the race in May \u2014 \u200bthe largest cash-on-hand figure of any candidate.<\/p>\n<h3>Nikki Haley<\/h3>\n<p>Former United Nations\u2062 Ambassador Nikki \u200bHaley was\u200b the first major\u200b candidate to announce a run against \u200dTrump, launching \u2063her campaign in February. She will take the debate\u200d stage this month.<\/p>\n<p>Haley, the daughter of Indian immigrants, \u2062rose to national prominence during \u2063her\u200c time as South \u200bCarolina\u2019s\u2062 governor, where she passed sweeping laws such\u2062 as dropping Common Core education\u200b standards. She \u2064was\u200d selected by Trump to \u2062serve as an ambassador\u2063 to the United Nations and was confirmed by the Senate in a large majority of\u200b 96 to \u20634 before resigning from her role in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2063first woman to serve as governor of South Carolina \u2062has been polling \u2062in the low to \u200bmid-single digits, with the most recent New York Times\/Siena\u200b poll having her at \u20633%.<\/p>\n<p>Haley\u2019s press secretary confirmed to the Washington Examiner last month that she met the donor threshold to qualify.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFunding\u200c comes from 70,000\u2064 donations, including\u200d more than 67,000 donations from people who gave $200 or less,\u201d a first-quarter press release states. \u201cHaley received support from all 50 states. Her top\u2064 three fundraising states were South Carolina, Florida, and Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Vivek Ramaswamy<\/h3>\n<p>The\u2062 political newcomer and biotech entrepreneur, Vivek Ramaswamy confirmed to the Washington Examiner \u2064he would qualify for the debate last month.<\/p>\n<p>He made a name for himself in right-wing circles by \u2063opposing \u201cwoke\u201d capitalism and is a self-described political nationalist.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has praised\u200c the 37-year-old GOP contender in the past, while he often \u2062defends \u2062the former president amid his various legal cases.<\/p>\n<p>Ramaswamy received political donations from more than 60,0000 individual donors and has \u2063been on \u2062the rise in polls \u2063recently, previously falling\u2063 in the \u200clow single digits but reaching 10% in an Echelon\u200c Insights survey.<\/p>\n<h3>Chris \u2064Christie<\/h3>\n<p>Former New Jersey Gov. \u2063Chris Christie\u200c entered\u200c the packed \u200dRepublican presidential\u200d race later than most \u2063of his fellow candidates and will be in Wisconsin this month.<\/p>\n<p>He became a household name in his \u200crole \u200cas a U.S. attorney, taking on cases\u2064 of high-profile convictions, including Charles Kushner.<\/p>\n<p>Christie endorsed Trump in the 2016 election and advised him\u200b in\u200c the \u2063race; however, \u200che has\u200b since become one of the former \u2064president\u2019s biggest \u200ccritics, telling\u2063 reporters\u200c the 2020 \u200belection lies was his breaking point.<\/p>\n<p>He announced in July \u2062that he met the financial requirements to debate and told CNN he gained over 40,000 unique donors in just 35 days\u200d since the\u2064 launch of his campaign at the start of June.<\/p>\n<h3>Doug \u200cBurgum<\/h3>\n<p>Gov. \u200dDoug\u2064 Burgum (R-ND), the long-shot candidate who cast his presidential bid in June, announced in July he has \u200cthe criteria \u2062to debate after offering donors $20 gift cards for $1 donations.<\/p>\n<p>He was victorious as \u200ban underdog in the past,\u200b winning the North Dakota gubernatorial race in 2016 against a prominent conservative \u200battorney general \u2064by 20%. A\u200d July \u200dFox Business poll\u200b found Burgum polling at 3% in Iowa.<\/p>\n<p>Burgum once owned Great Plains Software, a company\u200d that eventually was bought by \u2062Microsoft for\u2063 $1.1\u2064 billion in the 90s.<\/p>\n<p>The following candidates have not \u200bqualified\u200c for the debate, or have yet to announce they have reached the requirements.<\/p>\n<h3>Mike Pence<\/h3>\n<p>Former President\u200c Mike \u2063Pence\u2062 launched\u200c his highly anticipated\u2062 campaign in June while rebuking \u2064Trump. Pence has passed polling requirements but had \u200dyet to reach half of the required number of\u200d donors as of last month.<\/p>\n<p>The Pence campaign provided an update to\u2064 the Washington Examiner on Thursday,\u2062 saying he expects to reach\u2064 40,000\u2062 unique donors by the deadline.<\/p>\n<h3>Asa Hutchinson<\/h3>\n<p>Former Arkansas Gov.\u200b Asa Hutchinson has\u200d not met the criteria to participate in the \u2064RNC \u200bdebate. Hutchinson served as U.S. attorney for the Western District of Arkansas before being elected \u200cto the House of Representatives in 1996.<\/p>\n<p>While \u200bHutchinson has reached the polling limit, he also has\u2063 yet to reach the donor threshold, telling CBS News he has more than\u200c 11,000 unique donors.<\/p>\n<h3>Francis Suarez<\/h3>\n<p>The two-term Miami Mayor \u2062Francis Suarez raised $1 million in the first \u200ddays of entering the GOP race in June.<\/p>\n<p>He\u200b announced this week that he met the\u200b 20-state \u200dfundraising benchmark but hasn&#8217;t met the polling requirements, saying he\u2019s \u201cone step closer to next month&#8217;s debate.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Will \u2063Hurd<\/h3>\n<p>The\u200d former Texas congressman\u2064 Will Hurd has received\u200b fewer than 500 \u2062unique donors, according to the New York Times. Hurd launched his\u200b campaign in June, pitching himself as a moderate conservative.<\/p>\n<p>Hurd told NBC News that \u2064he wouldn&#8217;t \u2064comply with the RNC\u2019s pledge of support\u2062 for the eventual nominee because he would not support Trump if he is the Republican pick in\u200c 2024.<\/p>\n<h3>Larry Elder<\/h3>\n<p>Larry\u200c Elder, a conservative \u2064talk radio host who \u2062ran for governor \u200dof California in\u2062 2021, has not met \u2063the polling \u2064or\u2064 donor requirements after entering the \u2062presidential\u2064 race in April.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/republican-2024-presidential-debate-qualifications\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE\u2063 WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seven Republican candidates for the 2024 presidential race claim to meet the criteria set by the Republican National Committee to secure a spot in the upcoming debate.
